Flash Marriage: She becomes Mrs. CEO after the Failed Dowry Talk

Chapter 279: Deepening Misunderstandings

Chapter 279: Deepening Misunderstandings

As soon as Finnian Lawrence finished speaking, Nora Northwood sneezed several more times.

Leaning against the chair back, she felt truly cold.

With no other choice, Nora still draped the roomy suit jacket over herself.

Approaching eight o’clock, the two finally returned to the bustling city area.

Nora glanced at her phone, which had automatically shut off due to a dead battery. She curled her body a bit more, trying to preserve the warmth on her body.

Southwood Court.

Jasper Sinclair saw that it was raining outside and felt somewhat worried about Nora. As he couldn’t reach her by phone, he had no choice but to check her phone’s location.

The location indicated that the other party was approaching the entrance to Southwood Court.

Without having time to think it over, Jasper grabbed an umbrella and rushed out the door.

At the entrance to the complex, Finnian Lawrence was forced to stop the car. The complex’s rules stated that non-residents couldn’t enter.

When Jasper arrived, he saw Nora taking off a man’s suit jacket and waving goodbye to the person in the car.

It was a matter that took no longer than a couple of seconds, almost making one forget to breathe.

He stood there, feeling as if his feet weighed a thousand pounds.

Soon, Nora noticed Jasper’s figure.

She froze for a moment as raindrops the size of beans fell before her, blurring the man’s outline.

She asked, "Why are you out here?"

"To pick you up."

"Oh, then let’s go." The two were silent, and the silence persisted indoors.

Jasper’s eyes were deep, like a pool of stagnant water without ripples for a long while.

He stared at Nora’s back, "Is there nothing you want to explain?"

Nora’s fingers stiffened a bit as she closed the umbrella, not understanding what she had to explain. She recalled his actions from the night before, ignored him, and went straight to the bedroom.

The rain grew heavier, and the glass windows were covered with a layer of water droplets, completely blurring the scenery outside.

Nora slipped into the bathroom, letting the scalding water pour over her.

...

When she emerged, she changed into clean and comfortable pajamas and burrowed under the quilt.

The quilt was icy cold, just like Nora’s heart.

As she was about to drift off to sleep, Jasper burst in, "What were you doing with Finnian Lawrence last night?"

Just before, in the living room, he had instructed Louis Hayes to check the car’s license plate and found out the owner was Finnian Lawrence.

Nora was already holding back her sleepiness, and now, upon hearing Jasper’s questioning, she was filled with rage.

He not only forgot what happened last night, he also suspected her of messing around with another man. It was simply irrational.

Nora sank into the soft bed, feeling chaotic inside.

She said, "Think about what you’ve done first."

After saying this, she turned away in a huff. After a long while, she let out a shallow breath.

Jasper didn’t want to remain in such a stifling environment, so he went directly to the study.

The distance between them was just one wall.

Jasper tried hard to recall his recent actions, not thinking he had stepped out of line.

Of course, he had no memory of being sent back to Southwood Court by a woman, nor did he know someone had placed a lipstick in his pants pocket.

Thinking about this, he felt even more puzzled.

Jasper didn’t want to argue with Nora. To avoid such situations, he didn’t return to the bedroom until midnight.

The misunderstanding was deep, and no one took the initiative to speak.

Until the next day when Nora went to work, the reception at the front desk told her, "Someone named Mr. Sinclair called several times yesterday asking if you were at VK."

Upon hearing this, Nora replied lightly, "I know."
