Chapter 799 - 798: You can speak, but you’re not allowed to act rashly

Was she sincere in saying that?"No matter what happens, I’m not leaving. If anyone has to leave, it’s you."

In Capital Town, she didn’t know anyone. When she was at her most vulnerable, the person by her side was Maxwell Peary. After such a long time, even if there wasn’t love between them, there were other feelings. She wouldn’t leave unless... unless he didn’t want her.

"You little girl, why are you so ungrateful? Following him around without any proper status, what do you think you are? A mistress? Do you expect to live your whole life unable to hold your head high? Are you planning to hide away and never see anyone again?"

Nia Mitchell furrowed her brows.

"What do you mean, ’improper status’? We are legally married."

Nia Mitchell said this confidently, feeling her father’s words were utterly preposterous.

Upon hearing this, Molly Harguez immediately spoke up.

"You are married? He is married to someone else!"

As she said this, Molly Harguez picked up a newspaper from the side.

A huge headline was printed on it, making Nia’s eyes widen with shock.

A secret marriage? Belinda Swan? The one who had thrown their family into such disarray, was actually married to Uncle Peary?

Looking at the marriage certificate in the newspaper, she turned to look at Maxwell Peary in disbelief.

"Uncle?"

What was happening?

"I will handle this."

That was Maxwell Peary’s response, but it wasn’t what everyone there wanted to know.

"Young Master Peary, if you’re just playing around, please let my sister go. She’s too innocent, too easy to deceive."

Aldy Mitchell sat in one corner, his face helpless. Their family was now indebted to Maxwell Peary, all because of an unforeseen calamity that had befallen Aldy. He felt it was his own failing, that he hadn’t been good enough; otherwise, his sister could have walked away carefree.

"I won’t deceive her."

Maxwell Peary, with a stern face, said this and then moved to Nia Mitchell’s side.

"Drive my car and go back to the Villa on the hillside first. I’ll come find you once this is resolved."

Even at this stage, Maxwell Peary hoped she would leave first.

Nia Mitchell shook her head, tears welling up in her eyes.

"I won’t leave. I want to be with my father."

In the past, she had resented her father. Because he had been deceived by his stepmother, he had never considered her feelings. He hadn’t even provided her with a penny when she was forced to leave that home. But now... after the robbery incident in D City, she didn’t care about anything else. When her father shielded her with his body to protect her, she let everything go.

"You go."

Nia Mitchell turned her back on Maxwell Peary, not saying anything else.

Those three words made Maxwell Peary frown.

"This is fake, merely Belinda Swan’s trickery. You need to believe me."

Couldn’t she see his true feelings for her?

Nia Mitchell didn’t turn around, just kept staring at the newspaper in her hand.

"Young Master Peary, please leave."

Her father spoke up, standing in front of Maxwell Peary.

"Young Master Peary, please don’t hurt my sister anymore."

Aldy Mitchell struggled to get out of bed. Molly Harguez was startled and immediately went to his side.

"You can say what you need to, just don’t move."

Aldy Mitchell gritted his teeth, trying to get out of bed, but he had no strength at all and was soon covered in sweat.

"Don’t move."

Nia Mitchell came to Aldy’s side, afraid he might injure himself further.

"Okay, I won’t move. But sis, can you leave with us? Can we go back to D City together?"
