Fated: The Alpha's Unwanted Luna

Chapter 187: You do not hit a Luna!

Chapter 187: You do not hit a Luna!

Viola’s fist closed hard against the floor. She pushed herself back to her feet and went after him before he could drag Sofia out of the door, catching up in time to grab his wrist from behind.

"Just because I am wolfless does not mean I have no authority over you, I was crowned your Luna." Saying that, Viola used a strength she had no clear explanation for and twisted his wrist swiftly until he released Sofia, and then she swung around behind him and wrenched his arm up his back until she heard a distinct crack from somewhere in the bone.

Javier let out a sharp groan of pain, genuinely stunned for a moment by the strength the wolfless had just put into his arm. But when the shock wore off he turned around fast, wrenching his arm free, and without any consideration for the fact that she was a woman or the so-called Luna, he drove his fist into her face and tackled her to the ground.

He grabbed a fistful of her hair and yanked her head up so she was forced to look at him, but Viola gritted her teeth against the pain and drove her head forward into his nose with everything she had. The crack of it was satisfying to her ear.

Javier’s hands flew to his face and she used that split second to seize Sofia’s hand and haul her out of the penthouse, breaking into a run toward the elevator with everything she had.

"I am going to kill you, bitch!" Javier snarled, blood streaming from his nose as he came after them, already reaching through the building’s mind link to call his men down. So this was how the wolfless wanted to play things after everything he and his mother had done to support her position? He would make sure she never crossed him again for as long as she lived.

Oh, she would regret the day she ever crossed him.

Just as Sebastian had his own men stationed in the building, Javier had brought his own from his main quarters for protection, and he ordered them through the mind link, "She is heading to the 65th floor, block her there."

Inside the elevator, Viola had no clear idea what she was doing or why she was risking everything for Sofia, all she knew was that she was not going to let Javier take her back and eventually kill her. Her nose was bleeding and her lip was split from his punch but she didn’t care about either, and she held tight to Sofia’s hand without loosening her grip.

"You shouldn’t have done that. You shouldn’t have. Javier will kill you..." Sofia was whispering tearfully beside her, unable to understand why the Luna was putting herself in danger on her behalf. Didn’t she know that none of the past Lunas had ever dared to cross her husband or even attempted to help her?

"He won’t kill me." Viola said in reassurance, as the elevator reached the floor she had pressed, Sebastian’s private floor, the one that required special access to enter. She didn’t even have his keycard on her, but she had been hoping the guards stationed there would recognize her as the Luna and let her through.

However, the moment the elevator doors that led to the Alpha’s floors slid open, her stomach dropped, because right outside stood three bulky men who were not Sebastian’s men, with imposing heights and hardened faces that would give anyone with a faint heart a terrible nightmare.

She quickly stepped back and tried to press the button to close the doors again, but one of them thrust his hand into the gap before they could shut, and then without any ceremony whatsoever, he yanked her out of the elevator by her hair.

Viola felt a sharp shot of pain tear up through her scalp but she refused to give him the satisfaction of crying out. Instead she drew in a sharp breath, turned, gripped his wrist and dug her long artificial nails deep into his skin until he released her hair and cradled his bleeding hand against his chest.

Viola stumbled back and planted herself in front of Sofia as she spoke through gritted teeth. "You do not grab a woman by her hair, you bastard." And then, noticing that her dress was getting in her way and she needed her legs free, she bent down and tore the train of the silver dress clean off without hesitation, cutting it short, her eyes staying on the three men the entire time.

They didn’t seem eager to attack or do anything beyond blocking her from escaping, the one she had injured was glowering at her in dark, silent fury but hadn’t moved toward her, and she barely had a moment to wonder why they weren’t coming at her when she heard the sharp clicking of shoes against the floor and then Javier’s voice.

"You stupid bitch. I’ll make you regret ever interfering with things that don’t concern you in this pack again."

Javier moved forward to grab her by the hair, but a voice suddenly cut through the hallway from the opposite elevator that had just slid open.

"I wouldn’t be doing that if I were you, Javier. She is the Alpha’s wife now," came Matt’s voice as he stepped into the scene, taking in everything around him with visible astonishment, from Viola’s bloody nose, to Sofia, dressed in a set of pajamas, something new from her usual uniform of multicolored dresses, hiding behind the Luna, and then to Javier, who looked so pissed, with a smear of blood on his nose.

Matt’s brows pulled together in confusion. What was happening here? What had he just walked into?

He hadn’t made it to breakfast because he had slept in after the chaos of the night before, and had only just woken up. He had been making his way to Sebastian’s office to finish some work when he walked straight into this.

Javier turned his eyes to Matt and smirked. "I would like to see who is going to stop me, it certainly is not going to be you. You are nothing but the Alpha’s tail, so stay out of this." He began to reach for Viola again, but something hard suddenly struck his hand with a sharp, painful crack that made him groan, and he looked down to find a glass tablet lying on the floor at his feet.

Javier looked toward Matt to find him standing with a completely nonchalant expression and a mild smile on his face, as though he hadn’t been the one to throw the tablet at him at all. Javier’s rage erupted. He turned away from Viola entirely to face Matt.

How dare a Beta hit him with a tablet? He was a Kade, a supposed Alpha, had his father not handed the seat away to Sebastian’s father. It seemed he really needed to teach more than one person a lesson today.

"I will rip your head clean off your shoulders for that, fucker!" Javier gritted, and then his bones began to crack and splinter as his body started to shift.

Viola stepped back quickly, pulling Sofia with her, as she watched Javier shift into a mighty wolf, black and silver fur streaked through with strikes of gold, enormous and filling the hallway in a way that left very little space for anything else.

The moment Javier was fully shifted, Matt kicked off his shoes in seconds and launched himself into the air, shifting mid-leap into his wolf form as he came down.

Matt’s wolf was black with light green fur along his sides, and he was every bit as large as Javier, because Matt was not a Beta in name alone, and just like that the two of them crashed into each other in a fury of claws and teeth that sent even the guards scrambling back to give them room.

"You do not hit a Luna!" Matt growled through his wolf form as he bit down hard into Javier’s neck.

"You fucker, I will hit whoever I want to hit, and a mere Beta has no business interfering in my affairs!" Javier snarled back, driving his massive paw into Matt with enough force to send him slamming into the elevator door until the metal cracked and buckled behind him.
