Chapter 229: Finding Out Alone.
Chapter 229: Finding Out Alone.
Questions... like;
Who was that man with the three faced mask?
Clearly, Vinegar was on his side. Or he was on her’s.
Why?
What kind of incredible strength did he have, to simple take heads with a wave of the hand?
Although the soul pressure from the three faced masked figure was not like that of the Eldritch, it was still incredible.
No. It was more than the Eldritch.
The only difference was that the Eldritch underneath the town, showcased its own, as if to declare itself to the rest of the world, but the figure’s soul pressure was compact.
Dense.
Restrained.
But still very dangerous.
Even Polystar had not seen it coming, and had died just like that.
Only Bloodshine had been able to dodge it.
Wait a minute...
Bloodshine had been able to dodge it? This girl is far more capable than given credit for.
But Soren quickly drove that from his mind.
That was not a problem.
Vinegar was in Los Favorecidos. And she was with an incredibly talented Soulbound warrior.
Soren thought only Soulbound knights could be that strong.
After all, the techniques for Artistic Perception was in their hands.
But this soulbound warrior did not seem to be affiliated with any group.
Also, the strength displayed reminded him of Boyd.
Wait a minute. What would a person with strength like Boyd be searching for on a backwater place like this town?
This was s very valid question. Baron Don Alejandro did not even have a regular soulbound Knight.
This was how bad the nobles had it here.
Also, this individual with incredible prowess did not fight against the Eldritch when it surfaced in the past timeline.
The way the figure defended Vinegar.
—like a father to a child.
A master to a disciple.
Considering the fact that Vinegar was an orphan, this was the only logical conclusion.
She must have a Master–disciple relationship with this dangerous person.
But there was more.
Soren had gotten a general understanding of soulbound warriors.
And If there was anything he was sure of, it was that like nobles, soulbound warriors were attracted to valuable things.
It must mean that there was something of value within the Baron’s land that he had no knowledge of.
Something such a powerful individual was after.
What was it?
His mind flashed back to that box under the figure’s arm pit.
Even while slaughtering so many people, the figure still held it close to its chest.
That was it.
Still, the question remained. What was it?
A memory flashed in his head.
The old Baron that had become one with the Eldritch.
Before it chomped down on Soren’s head, he had been lamenting about something.
"Sooo-reeen!" Cynthia called, snapping him from his mind.
Soren spoke up. "Change of plans. We don’t wait till morning. We go immediately."
"Huh!?" Everyone was surprised.
"I dont think you noticed, but they are a lot of guards searching for us now." Polystar stated the obvious.
Yes. There was that.
Soren had forgotten that the guards searching for them was the exact reason he decided they waited till the wedding began proper.
"And that’s why you are a Turdface." Vass added smirking.
Like the last time, Soren suggested everyone rested and they should leave as the sun rose.
They talked some more, and then everyone retired to rest.
However, barely a few minutes later, Soren rose from his sleeping side.
He dropped a note beside polystar. And then he tip toed out of the shed.
The others sleeping.
"Where are you going?" A familiar voice interrupted him.
Soren turned. "Shuuushhhh!" He placed a finger on his lips
He tiptoed to her.
It was Bloodshine.
"Are you planning to sneak back in without telling us?" She asked. "You want to go save your new lover, right?"
She poured, arms folded like a jealous wife aware of her husband’s secret mistress.
"No... no no. Its not that. I am going back to the tunnels. I want to see what’s in there." Soren whispered.
"The tunnels? Hmmm... then I’m nøt coming with you."
"No..." Soren shook his head. "Its dangerous. I don’t want you hurt."
This was true. As of this moment, he had stacked too much images of his friends—dead—in his head.
And these were not pleasant memories.
But Bloodshine shook her head stubbornly.
"Its either you take me with you, or I’ll nøt tell the others."
Soren massaged his head.
Bloodshine smiled, hugging his arm.
Soren was very intense with his Bksckfield, and so was Bloodshine.
Speaking back and even past the guards searching for them was easy.
Soren knew it was because it was just the two of them.
If the others had come, they would have not easily made it to the entrance of the tunnels.
On getting there, thd cadets found that two people acted as guards in front.
Instantly Bloodshine acted.
"First Form: Heart’s Mirror."
Instantly, an illusory image of Baron Don Alejandro appeared.
"And what are you two doing here?" The Baron asked sternly.
"Well... erm we are standing guard in case they come back."
"Come back? Who would want to come back into this decapitated old town? Can’t you see those are cadets of the Imperial Soulforge Academy?
They are pampered brats. Right now, they are by the train station trying run away after touching my saintess."
As he spoke, his voice rose, obviously scarring the men. "But Butler Enrique said we should..."
"...And you idiots are standing by a sweage tunnel!?"
The men panicked. "Will you hurry up and chase them all the way to the train station!!!"
They nodded like pecking chickens. "Yes, Baron."
They immediately hurried away, scarred of taking any more of the man’s wrath.
When they were gone, Soren and Bloodshine came out of hiding.
Soren could not help but give Bloodshine a thumbs up.
Her ability was not violent, but it was best for subtle situations like this one.
The two of them went in—spreading their Blackfield.
Bloodshine knew the way, and led in front.
However, they had barely gone any distance when she paused.
"They are nøt others in here."
