Extreme Almightiest Young Master

Chapter 835: The Traitor

Chapter 835: The Traitor

While Lin Feng was out enjoying the company of two ladies, Nangong He had returned to Nangong Villa with his entourage. As soon as he arrived home, he was immediately faced with a request for an audience from Nangong Mingyue and several Elders, which greatly annoyed Nangong He. Eventually, having no other choice, he allowed them to come in to speak.

"Ancestor, we are really worried. What qualifies Lin Feng to save the Nangong Family? Can you give us some clarity?" Nangong Mingyue looked at Nangong He, feeling as if a stone hung in his heart. He couldn’t understand why the Ancestor so staunchly protected Lin Feng, even claiming Lin Feng was the savior of the Prominent Family. Nangong Mingyue thought it impossible. Although the Ancestor had lost his temper at the airport, now that they were back at the Nangong Family, Nangong Mingyue couldn’t help but ask again.

This matter was a crucial one concerning the life and death of the Nangong Clan; not a detail could be overlooked. Although they all trusted the Ancestor, believing he would never harm the Nangong Clan, their hearts still felt uneasy. Having seen Lin Feng in person, such a young man, there seemed absolutely no way he could withstand the Ancestor of Li Family. What was going on? How could the Ancestor trust that Lin Feng could help the Nangong Family overcome this crisis?

"Yes, Ancestor, please tell us."

"Ancestor, what abilities does Lin Feng have..."

"Ancestor, no offense, but who would believe that such a young man as Lin Feng could withstand Li Deming!"

"Ancestor, you tell us nothing, and we are all feeling very uneasy."

...

Upon hearing Nangong Mingyue speak, the Elders also shared their thoughts. Having discussed it with Nangong Mingyue upon their return to Nangong Villa, they had come together to see the Ancestor. Their only purpose was to find out what the Ancestor really thought, and how he could rely on such a young person as Lin Feng to navigate this dire situation. They believed it was an impossible task.

Their worries compelled them to speak to the Ancestor, as keeping it to themselves felt intolerably uncomfortable. It was imperative that the Ancestor clarify some matters to put them at ease; otherwise, they would lose all confidence in the future of the Nangong Clan.

"You all... What should I say about you? Do you know there is a reason I haven’t told you? I only need to tell you that my decisions are infallible, even if it leads to death. I will die in the Nangong Family, and you must believe that the Nangong Family can get through this crisis. That is all for now. You all may leave; stop bothering me. Mingyue, stay behind; I have something to discuss with you alone."

Nangong He, seeing Nangong Mingyue and the Elders before him, felt infuriated. He wanted to reveal everything about Lin Feng to shut them up, but after a moment’s thought, opted not to. If he wasn’t mistaken, there must be a traitor among those present. Otherwise, how could Yue Bufan have appeared at the airport that day? It raised suspicions, so he had to be cautious about leaking information.

Considering that he had only summoned a few people after receiving the call from the Old Monster, and those few knew why they were at the airport, Yue Bufan’s presence at that time couldn’t have been coincidental. Realizing this, Nangong He looked at the people before him, feeling a sad inevitability about betrayal within the Nangong Family during times of crisis—this left Nangong He quite helpless. Therefore, he had not disclosed Lin Feng’s situation to them.

However, seeing the urgency in Nangong Mingyue’s demeanor, Nangong He finally decided to explain the matter to Nangong Mingyue, to alleviate his concerns. This way, Nangong Mingyue could stabilize the panic within the household. This approach seemed to be the only viable option at the moment. With this in mind, Nangong He eventually decided to have a private discussion with Nangong Mingyue, who, as the Family Head of the Nangong Family, could never betray them.

"Ancestor..."

"Ancestor..."

"Ancestor..."

...

Several Elders heard this and, having failed to extract any information, suddenly did not want to leave. They began pleading with the Ancestor not to drive them away, affirming their roles as Elders of the Nangong Family, the last thing they wanted was for trouble to befall the family, especially at such a critical time, they felt they deserved to know the truth.

In their view, the Ancestor must have had his reasons for acting this way; however, they could not understand why he chose to do so without explanation and ushered them out instead... What was the reason for this?

"Get out," the Ancestor said, his face darkening as he saw that the men were still lingering. He really did not want these individuals around. He truly wished to keep Lin Feng’s matter confidential; if Li Deming appeared, perhaps they could catch him off-guard leading to unexpected results. How could he disclose everything just because the Elders pleaded?

"Elders, the Ancestor is already angry. Please leave for now," Nangong Mingyue urged the Elders to leave when he saw the situation, his own curiosity growing. What did the Ancestor mean by keeping him here alone? Was there something he needed to discuss privately that couldn’t be said in front of the Elders?

When the Elders heard this, realizing that the Ancestor might resort to force if they did not leave, they reluctantly left the room. They all turned around, each bearing a look of helplessness, unable to comprehend why the Ancestor was furious with them. They were, after all, the Elders of the Nangong Family, and in usual times, the Ancestor treated them quite well. Why would he inexplicably lash out today? They were clueless as to what was going on...

After the individuals had left the room, Nangong Mingyue closed the door, approached the Ancestor, and stood respectfully beside him, eager to hear what the Ancestor had to say.

"Mingyue, do you know why I sent them away?" Nangong He asked Nangong Mingyue lightly, expressing his desire to explain the situation but first needing Nangong Mingyue to understand the context and reasons behind dismissing the Elders.

"Ancestor, please enlighten me," replied Nangong Mingyue, puzzled by Nangong He’s comment. He couldn’t discern his meaning, as the actions of the Elders seemed rightful and rational; they did what was expected of the Elders of the Nangong Family. Yet, they were driven out furiously—what was happening here?

"You, you’re thinking too little," Nangong He said, shaking his head. "Let me remind you, you saw Yue Bufan at the airport. Do you realize what this means? Such a crucial matter, and you overlooked it. That’s careless!" Nangong He expressed disappointment, perceiving that perhaps Nangong Mingyue had become too accustomed to peaceful days and had let his guard down—a Family Head should not miss such matters.

"Ah, Ancestor... you mean..." Upon hearing Nangong He mention Yue Bufan at the airport, Nangong Mingyue suddenly understood the significance. Being the Family Head of the Nangong Clan, how could he be foolish? Now that the Ancestor had pointed it out explicitly, if he still could not understand, he would be utterly inept.

The departure to pick up Lin Feng had been abrupt. From gathering the Elders to leaving the Nangong Family, it took just a few minutes. The Ancestor briefly spoke to them before they all departed, so no one else in the Nangong Family knew of their trip to the airport. He and the Ancestor took one car, while the other Elders took another. If the news had been leaked, it must have been one or a few of the Elders who informed Yue Bufan. Otherwise, it was no coincidence that Yue Bufan appeared at the airport and precisely knew their intentions.

A traitor, there must be a traitor among the Elders!

Realizing this, Nangong Mingyue finally grasped the meaning behind the Ancestor’s actions of sending the Elders away and why, at the airport, the Ancestor consistently refused to disclose anything about Lin Feng. However, the idea of a traitor among the Elders at such a critical moment left Nangong Mingyue shocked and unable to confront this reality.

"Now that you understand, leave this place and investigate," Nangong He acknowledged Nangong Mingyue’s realization and cut short any further discussion, signaling him to look into the matter.

"Mingyue, don’t you really want to know why I am so confident that Lin Feng can help our Nangong Family weather this crisis?"

Handing the matter of the traitor to Nangong Mingyue, Nangong He felt reassured. What remained was to stabilize Nangong Mingyue’s mind. As long as Nangong Mingyue knew about Lin Feng, he would naturally suppress any internal skepticism within the Nangong Family. This would aid Lin Feng when he took action, offering him at least a slight advantage. No one facing a young man like Lin Feng for the first time would suspect his capabilities. It’s understood that Lin Feng was on par with Li Deming—if Li Deming were careless, the implications would be significant.

"Ancestor, rest assured, I will uncover this matter swiftly. I truly wish to know about Lin Feng as well, for I can find no reason to believe that Lin Feng could genuinely help the Nangong Family overcome this disaster. Please, enlighten me," Nangong Mingyue responded immediately, pledging to quickly resolve the issue of the traitor. He also expressed his inner doubts, earnestly desiring to understand the capabilities of Lin Feng—a young man in his early twenties—to rival Li Deming, which seemed utterly impossible.
