Chapter 453 Boring Text Messages
Chapter 453 Boring Text Messages
"Oh! Right, self-destruction! Lucky we had that option, eh Jack? Just as I thought, Lin Feng really is a master hacker. It seems that having you silence those spies was indeed the right call. You know, at that time you were communicating with that liaison, Lin Feng could’ve hacked into your computer without any reservations. Thank goodness we withdrew in time and silenced those people on the other end. Otherwise, Lin Feng would have very likely invaded us. If things had gone that way, we really would’ve died without even knowing how!"
Max Dorrell remembered about the self-destruction only after Jack mentioned it. He had asked some of the world’s top hackers to work on their computers, and he hadn’t expected how helpful that would turn out to be. As long as the information didn’t get out, one computer meant nothing. Moreover, the most important thing was to completely sever those connections. Only after cutting those ties could they be safe and prevent Lin Feng from having any chance to trace them. Now, as long as they could sever any clues preventing Lin Feng from tracking them here, that would be enough.
Now Max Dorrell was covered in cold sweat from fright. It seemed that the decision he had just made was indeed the right one. It was a good thing he had Jack silence those people in time. Otherwise, the consequences would have been unimaginable. As he had guessed, the super expert by Chu Meng’s side, Lin Feng, really was a master hacker as well as a super expert. If he hadn’t considered this possibility, he would have been exposed by now, and what lay in wait for him would be endless assassination attempts!
Just the thought of being hunted by an S-class super expert made Max Dorrell’s scalp tingle. In the presence of an S-class expert, ordinary people are like ants – no, less than ants. If Lin Feng were to discover him, death would be the only thing waiting for him; no amount of money would help, not even Boss Li Zerui could save him...
"Boss... Boss, what should we do next?" Jack was now completely panicked, his clothes soaked through in an instant. He knew if Lin Feng really was the combination of a super expert and a master hacker as Max Dorrell described, it meant there would be nowhere in the world they could hide once Lin Feng confirmed their identities. What to do next? Jack was utterly lost.
Jack was already consumed by endless fear. He could never have dreamed that the young man by Chu Meng’s side, Lin Feng, was an S-class super expert. To be an S-class super expert at just over 20 years old – it was madness! Never had he heard of such a powerful cultivator!
He couldn’t even begin to imagine the horror of what an attack by an S-class expert would be like...
"Let’s just leave it here for now, don’t make any more moves. See how things go later, huh? Provoking someone this formidable is akin to seeking death! So from now on, cut off all contacts in Tianhai, and completely freeze any activities there, got it?"
Max Dorrell had completely lost the confidence to take action. Against someone as astoundingly powerful as Lin Feng, any misstep in his plans would surely expose him. So the best strategy for now was to stop all activities. As long as they didn’t attract Lin Feng’s attention, they would be safe. Their lives were the top priority; everything else could wait!
"Boss, I understand!" Upon hearing Max Dorrell’s instructions, Jack instantly grasped everything. Nothing was more important than their lives. Remembering the close call they just had – missing by a hair’s breadth – if they had been even a little slower and Lin Feng had tracked down their computers, not only would he undoubtedly die, so would the boss...
With this thought, Jack decided to immediately follow Max Dorrell’s decision and eliminate the other two contacts in Tianhai, too. Only then could he rest easy – who knows what else Lin Feng could be capable of...
"Hmm, that will do for now. You may go," Max Dorrell decided it was better to let go of the issue with Chu Meng for the time being. Without a way to take care of the potential S-class super expert Lin Feng by her side, it was better not to touch anything related to her. Just the thought of dealing with someone who was both a super expert and a master hacker gave him a headache!
Max Dorrell, feeling drained, got up and took a glass of red wine. Looking out at the panoramic view of half the city, his mood sank further. If only he had known about Chu Meng’s S-class expert trump card, he would never have gotten involved in this mess. And now he couldn’t extricate himself, only hoping that Lin Feng would discover them as late as possible...
Meanwhile, Jack returned to his office and immediately found the numbers of the other two contacts in Tianhai on the blackboard. Then he promptly detonated their phones. After completing all these tasks, he switched to another office in a different building. Only by doing this could he feel safe; he did not want to let an expert catch up and crack his head open...
...
On the other hand, Ding Wan’er arrived at work in the morning and sat at her desk, her mind preoccupied with Lin Feng. In the last couple of days, Lin Feng had been busy with other matters and hadn’t been picking her up for work, which she found odd. What could Lin Feng be so busy with these past two days? She wished he would at least drop her a message or two...
Just as Ding Wan’er was absorbed in her thoughts, her cell phone suddenly rang, surprising her. Who would send her a message? With that thought, she immediately picked up her phone and checked the message. She couldn’t help laugh upon reading it because it was yet another anonymous text, and the content was brief.
"Dear Dean Ding, your fiancé, Mr. Lin Feng, seems to be involved in a flirtatious affair with the new beautiful teacher from the Language Institute, Li Hong. Yesterday, he accepted an invitation to dine with Ms. Li, and tonight, he even visited her dorm at midnight. Moreover, I even discovered Ms. Li donning exceptionally skimpy outfits in her dorm, suggesting there might be more to their relationship. I hope you will take this matter to heart and prevent Mr. Lin from misconduct within Yingbo University. Regards, a person concerned about you."
As she read the message before her, the more Ding Wan’er read, the funnier she found it. She couldn’t figure out what the person who sent this boring message was thinking, wording it so righteously. It was the epitome of tedium!
Lin Feng’s character was something Ding Wan’er understood better than anyone. He wouldn’t engage in meaningless acts, let alone have an affair with the new beautiful teacher. That was utterly absurd. Ding Wan’er had also reviewed Li Hong’s profile; she was the new German language teacher, quite attractive, but exuded a seductive air that didn’t quite suit a proper woman’s demeanor. Ding Wan’er thought that if Lin Feng really were so driven by lust, he would have made a move on any of the beauties around him long before today.
Moreover, on her birthday, she had already made her relationship with Lin Feng public. In the aftermath, in their heart-to-heart conversations, she had thoroughly cleared up everything with Lin Feng. Now she was his fiancée, and with this status, she didn’t care about anything else because she had come to terms with every issue. If she wanted to be with Lin Feng, she had to accept everything. And she had come to trust him completely, for Lin Feng wasn’t someone who misbehaved; just looking at the women around him made it evident.
There was her and Sister Leng, naturally; they were one in a million, reputable and beautiful women that Tianhai could count on one hand. There was also Shen Yao, the stunning heiress of the Shen Corporation; an innocent and incredibly beautiful girl whose name she didn’t know but had a close relationship with Lin Feng; and then there were the two campus belles from Sister Leng’s Language Institute...
All the women around Lin Feng were exceptionally remarkable, their beauty aside; their character and personality were hard to come by. Each had her unique traits, but the most important thing was their strong affection for Lin Feng. Ding Wan’er guessed that, like her, they would disregard anything to be by Lin Feng’s side, which spoke volumes about the depth of their feelings for him.
However, among all these women, the only one who probably had a real romantic connection with Lin Feng was Shen Yao, who was far away in Yuegang. All the others, including herself, Lin Feng’s official fiancée, had not experienced overly intimate actions from him. Thus, the notion of Lin Feng harboring a romantic liaison with the beautiful Li Hong was practically laughable!
If Lin Feng had any intentions, he wouldn’t need to hide them from her. At this point, Ding Wan’er finally understood the purpose behind the person sending the text message: that person must be jealous of Lin Feng and was trying to surreptitiously tattle to her, hoping to spark a conflict between her and Lin Feng, then utterly tarnish his reputation at Yingbo University, and, ideally, have her break off their engagement and kick Lin Feng out of the university. Such a result would make the sender ecstatic.
Ding Wan’er thought the person who sent the text was an utter fool. As Lin Feng’s fiancée, no matter the circumstances, she would always stand united with him—expecting to stir trouble between her and Lin Feng was preposterous!
With these thoughts, Ding Wan’er tossed her phone back onto the desk, resolving to pay it no further mind.
However, the message did cause her to think of Leng Mei. Since being candid with Lin Feng about her identity, she could sense that Leng Mei was deeply hurt and had been avoiding her, with their phone interactions also decreasing significantly.
Ding Wan’er could feel Sister Leng’s agony. Sister Leng was several years older than her and had finally met Lin Feng, the only man who had ever moved her heart. However, she hadn’t expected that this same man would turn out to be her closest sister’s fiance, an unforeseen blow that was not easily weathered...
Ding Wan’er had even put herself in Leng Mei’s shoes, imagining both following Lin Feng. However, Sister Leng’s attitude remained chilly, which could only mean one thing: Sister Leng minded her presence and didn’t want her to become an uninvited third party.
Alas, Ding Wan’er didn’t want Leng Mei to suffer over Lin Feng, yet she didn’t know how to resolve the issue and help Leng Mei completely let go of her emotional burden.
As Ding Wan’er pondered these matters, the internal phone on her desk rang, pulling her thoughts back to reality.
