Extreme Almightiest Young Master

Chapter 362 Originally Confessed...

Chapter 362 Originally Confessed...

"Um... Sister Liu, the weather is nice today...I’m going to head home." Hearing what Sister Liu said, Leng Mei was dying of embarrassment, never having imagined she could do something so outrageous the night before. It was all because of drinking too much and making a spectacle by shouting those words in the neighborhood, letting every neighbor in on it. How could she possibly handle this? Right now, if there was a crack in the ground, she would have wished to crawl right into it. But there was no way out; she had to divert the conversation and leave, or else she feared what Sister Liu might ask next. With these thoughts, Leng Mei did not wait for Sister Liu to respond, waved at her, and hurried home.

But what Leng Mei could never have anticipated was that Sister Liu’s greeting was just the beginning.

"Leng Mei, congratulations!"

"Xiao Leng, congratulations!"

"Xiao Leng has a boyfriend now, congrats!"

...

People in the neighborhood, having seen Sister Liu already speak with Leng Mei, congratulated her as she passed by. Leng Mei, known as the most beautiful and talented woman in the community, was close to thirty and still single. Now that she had a boyfriend, everyone was happy for her.

"Thank you!"

"Thank you!"

"Thank you!"

...

Facing everyone’s congratulations, Leng Mei didn’t know what to say anymore and could only instinctively smile, nod at each person who greeted her, say "thank you," and flee back to her villa. She then shut the door tightly and didn’t have the courage to open it again, even as she leaned against it. Her heart was still racing; she’d never dreamed that she could do something so exaggerated the night before. Now the whole neighborhood knew, how was she supposed to face going out in the future? It was too embarrassing.

And judging by what Sister Liu implied, Leng Mei roughly knew what had happened last night. She must have confessed to Lin Feng in a drunken frenzy. That meant Lin Feng definitely heard her drunken ramblings. What was she to do? What would Lin Feng think of her? Although she really liked him, Leng Mei was always concerned about her age, which she believed to be the biggest barrier between them.

Now, what was she to do? Her headache worsened. The not-so-figurative window paper between her and Lin Feng had been torn, and she didn’t know how to face him now, especially since she didn’t know how he felt about her confession. What if he thought she was just spouting drunken nonsense...

But if Leng Mei were to confess to Lin Feng while sober, she knew she could never bring herself to do it. Although two other girls had already confessed to Lin Feng, Leng Mei was different; such things others could do, she simply could not. Just thinking about it made her feel her head might explode from the pain. She couldn’t have fathomed that she would declare her feelings to Lin Feng in such a hazy drunken state, leaving her now clueless on how to face him. The situation made her feel utterly lost...

In the end, without any solution, Leng Mei returned to her room, curled up in bed, and began reminiscing about the past, hoping to find some answers. She ended up staying home all day without going to work, hiding out to sort out her relationship with Lin Feng...

...

It wasn’t until the evening lamps were lit that Leng Mei came to her senses, realizing she hadn’t left the house all day. She checked the time; Ding Wan’er should be back at her place by now. She hadn’t made any headway during the day, so she figured she might as well visit Girl Ding to clear her mind.

"Girl Ding, are you home?" Leng Mei called up Ding Wan’er directly to see if she was indeed home as Leng Mei had hoped.

"Sister Leng, I just got home. Is there something you need?" Ding Wan’er was surprised to receive Leng Mei’s call. Usually, she was the one who called Sister Leng. Why did Sister Leng call her today out of the blue? She hadn’t heard of anything happening, so what could it be?

"Nothing much, I just thought I’d sit with you for a while." Leng Mei spoke her mind straightaway, feeling too lonely staying at home. She wanted to sit with Ding Wan’er, hoping that it might lift her spirits.

"Oh, then come on over to my place, Sister Leng," Ding Wan’er said upon hearing Leng Mei’s request, sensing that something must have happened. Otherwise, Sister Leng wouldn’t be acting so odd today. Nevertheless, since Sister Leng had asked, she invited her over first, thinking they could talk and find out what had indeed occurred.

"Yeah, okay! I’ll be there soon. Let’s leave it for now; I’m hanging up." Leng Mei, hearing Ding Wan’er agree to her coming over, immediately hung up the phone, got up, changed her clothes, grabbed her bag, and left the house. She randomly hailed a taxi and hurried towards Ding Wan’er’s home.

...

Half an hour later, the taxi carrying Leng Mei arrived at Ding Wan’er’s doorstep. After paying the fare and getting out of the car, Leng Mei pressed Ding Wan’er’s doorbell.

"Ding-dong! Ding-dong!"

"Is that you, Sister Leng?" Ding Wan’er, hearing the doorbell and checking the time, guessed it should be Sister Leng’s arrival. She quickly called out from the living room and headed to the villa’s door, ready to let Leng Mei in.

"It’s me, Girl Ding." Leng Mei, hearing Ding Wan’er’s voice, answered simply to signal her arrival.

"Click."

"Come in, Sister Leng." Ding Wan’er hurriedly opened the door, ushered Leng Mei in, and the two of them sat down on the living room sofa.

"Sister Leng, is something the matter?" After sitting down, Ding Wan’er took the initiative to ask Leng Mei since her behavior tonight was extremely out of the ordinary. Normally, she wouldn’t call her out of the blue, and especially not this late, asking to come over to her house. There must have been something that happened.

"Nothing in particular, just... just wanted to sit here for a bit." Leng Mei found herself in great turmoil and didn’t know how she ended up calling Ding Wan’er saying she wanted to come over to sit. But upon seeing Ding Wan’er, she was reminded that she herself had a deep affection for Lin Feng, which made discussing Lin Feng with Ding Wan’er highly inappropriate. Yet beyond Ding Wan’er, Leng Mei had no other friends to confide in. What was she to do?

"I’ll pour you a glass of water." Upon hearing Leng Mei speak, Ding Wan’er could tell that there was more to Sister Leng’s words than met the eye but didn’t want to press the issue. It was better to pour her a glass of water to help her ease her mind first. With that thought, Ding Wan’er stood up, poured a glass of water for Leng Mei, and then sat back down to chat.

"Sister Leng, you’re acting so strange today, and you don’t look well at all. Tell me what happened so I can help you figure it out." Ding Wan’er looked seriously at Leng Mei and noticed her face was a sickly pale white. She must have drunk too much or was ill to be in such a state. It was also obvious that she had left the house without makeup, which would never usually happen. Something truly out of the ordinary must have occurred for Sister Leng to act like this tonight. What on earth was going on?

"It’s... there’s really nothing. I just wanted to sit here for a while." Leng Mei realized her coming to Ding Wan’er’s place was a complete mistake, and given she could always sense Ding Wan’er’s affection for Lin Feng, it made last night’s incident even less likely to be a topic she could share. It seemed she had no other option but to keep it to herself.

At that moment, she suddenly realized how narrow her circle of friends was; other than Ding Wan’er, there didn’t seem to be anyone else. Her life was consumed by endless work. Was this truly the life she wanted? Reflecting more, she knew the answer was no. Before Lin Feng came along, she never felt anything amiss. But since Lin Feng appeared, she increasingly detested the single life and longed to be like other girls who could hold their boyfriend’s hand while shopping, dining, and watching movies...

It was Lin Feng’s appearance that sparked these changes within her. As time passed and Lin Feng’s charm became more apparent, her desire to end her solitary life grew ever stronger. Half a year had passed, and Lin Feng had become deeply rooted in her heart, immovable. She didn’t want to move him either, not until the incident of her drunkenness the night before.

How she regretted drinking so much back then, letting Lin Feng see her inebriated and disgraceful state, and to make matters worse, loudly confessing her feelings to him for the whole neighborhood to hear. It was all the fault of the alcohol. If only she hadn’t drunk so much last night, then...

"Sister Leng, Sister Leng!" Seeing Leng Mei drifting off even while talking to her, Ding Wan’er felt even more puzzled. What could have happened to make Sister Leng behave this way today? But without Sister Leng opening up, she could only worry helplessly about what to do next.

"Girl Ding, it’s nothing, don’t ask anymore. I’ll leave after sitting for a bit." Leng Mei looked at Ding Wan’er, understanding her concern, but knew she simply couldn’t discuss it here.

"Alright then." Hearing Sister Leng speak like this, Ding Wan’er felt it was not her place to say anything more. All she could do was let Leng Mei sit on her sofa, her heart filled with concern for Sister Leng. She had never seen Sister Leng like this before; her unusual behavior was worrying. Seeing Sister Leng hesitate to speak, Ding Wan’er felt even more bewildered. Sister Leng had always shared everything with her; there were never any secrets between them. But Sister Leng’s current state suggested a problem she felt uncomfortable sharing.

Like Ding Wan’er, Sister Leng usually led her life within the school context and her time, too, was wholly occupied by work. Ding Wan’er thought that logically, Leng Mei shouldn’t have encountered anything she couldn’t discuss with her. They had been inseparable since childhood, and lately, no special events had seemed to occur. So what was troubling Sister Leng now? She looked so pale as if she were ill, yet why didn’t she seek medical help instead of just sitting here for a while? Was this still the Sister Leng she knew...

The two sat there in silence, Leng Mei lost in thought about Lin Feng, and Ding Wan’er preoccupied with what might be troubling Leng Mei. Although neither spoke, just sitting together felt incredibly comfortable, for it wasn’t just another solitary night in an icy villa; here was a living presence beside her, adding warmth to the atmosphere. Unwittingly, they had spent a long time together on the sofa...
