Chapter 321 Cloud Fund Incident
Chapter 321 Cloud Fund Incident
"Let’s not talk about this anymore. As we walk, tell me, senior sister, how did you end up in Africa?" Lin Feng changed the subject. There was no point in dwelling on their injuries—it was better to understand why senior sister had appeared in Africa. After he finished speaking, Lin Feng stood up, determined his direction, and started walking toward the small airport indicated on the map.
"Ah, that’s a long story," Chu Meng sighed as she quickly stood up to follow Lin Feng. However, upon hearing his question, she let out a long sigh. She had never imagined that the Cloud Fund she had founded would face ruin one day... She really didn’t want it to end like this, especially not due to such underhanded tactics. If it had been a fair business competition, and she had failed, she could have accepted it.
"This story should start from before last year’s Spring Festival. At that time, I managed my funds and took control of a small country in South Asia, earning over ten billion US dollars in wealth. But my actions angered several real power families in the United States because I touched their cheese before they did, affecting their interests and making them very angry. They even called me once to warn me not to mess around!"
"But at the time, I didn’t think much of it and didn’t take their warning seriously at all. Even if those big families banded together, they couldn’t contend with my Cloud Fund. So I kept investing everywhere, hoping to continue growing my fund into a milestone in the history of world funds!"
"Maybe I was too arrogant and didn’t care about the feelings of those big families. I just kept commanding Cloud Fund to amass wealth crazily. Unknowingly, I must have touched their cheese again somewhere, and ultimately, I enraged them completely. Right after the new year, I discovered that my fund was being targeted by different forces all over the world. Yet, such things wouldn’t stop Cloud Fund’s growth; they only shifted my focus a bit. I attended to these issues and sought to resolve them with all my might."
"The problems were quickly resolved, because with Cloud Fund’s massive capital, all these so-called ambushes were nothing but talk. But I could never have dreamed that, after I had dealt with these problems and was returning to the headquarters in M Country, disaster struck!"
"In the few days I was in Europe dealing with affairs, several of my most important subordinates betrayed me. They colluded, forged my signature and electronic seal, and covered for each other as they transferred all of the funds from Cloud Fund’s US headquarters. Moreover, they set a trap at the headquarters, waiting for me to fall into it."
"Thus, without any knowledge of the situation, when I returned to the M Country headquarters with my team, we were surrounded by people they had arranged. After a struggle, only four out of twenty *** masters survived; the sole AA-class master was seriously injured while covering for me. In the end, only me and five others managed to escape alive; everyone else died at the headquarters. We then immediately forced our way into the airport, and I flew out of M Country in my own plane. It was a narrow escape; essentially all my bodyguards were wiped out,"
"It was so perilous that it’s indescribable. If it weren’t for the few loyal bodyguards by my side, there’s no way I would’ve survived. While in the air, I activated my sleeper agent in the United States. Through him, I figured out what was going on."
"It turned out that those big families didn’t want Cloud Fund to grow and become their competitor. They secretly used various methods to make my most important people betray me, setting up this deadly trap for me. If I had died, then Cloud Fund would become ownerless, and those families could easily divide it up completely."
"Once I knew this, of course, I couldn’t just stand by and do nothing. I immediately flew to the European headquarters, but I could never have imagined that in the short time I was away, things here had changed too. Before I even landed, a confidant in Europe informed me that a trap had already been set here too, waiting for me to walk into it."
"With no other options, I had to fly to the African headquarters. Although it was the most backward, it was just being established and their reach couldn’t possibly extend here. So, it was the safest. The plan was good, but reality was shocking. I never could’ve predicted that my plane would crash right here. If I hadn’t secretly installed an emergency escape system in the plane, there’s no way I could’ve survived."
"When I came to, I activated the escape system and realized that everyone, including the five loyal bodyguards, was dead. Looking at the endless wasteland, I felt desperate, so I used my personal satellite phone to call you. But before I could finish, I fainted again."
"When I woke up again, I found a group of black people looting the plane crash site. When they discovered me, a survivor, they took me to a villa. Then I was kidnapped once more by the person you just killed. You know everything that happened after that..."
Chu Meng slowly recounted the whole event in detail to Lin Feng because she wanted his help to reclaim what was rightfully hers. After all, she had single-handedly created the Cloud Fund and didn’t want to see it destroyed. Now, the only person she could trust was her junior brother, who had traveled thousands of miles to save her!
After carefully listening to his senior sister’s story, Lin Feng finally understood the whole situation. It seemed that his senior sister’s Cloud Fund had grown too rapidly, which made the established powers jealous. They conspired to take action against Cloud Fund, against senior sister, and ended up dividing the entire fund among themselves. Now it could be said that senior sister’s Cloud Fund no longer existed.
Lin Feng could instantly understand what had happened to his senior sister; these people were truly despicable. Unable to defeat his senior sister in business, they resorted to targeting the people around her. If it were only those few people who had betrayed her, his senior sister would not be in any danger—she had loyal confidants and other forces on her side. It must have been a combined effort of many, with those betrayers serving merely as the trigger. The final push that forced his senior sister to flee for her life would have involved attacks from experts—assassinations and ambushes—in conjunction with the treachery from within. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have ended up in her current predicament.
He just couldn’t understand it. As an important figure at Cloud Fund, she certainly wasn’t short on cash, so why would they betray her? The only possibility was that they too had been threatened by those powerful families and had no choice but to turn against his senior sister!
Moreover, there was another issue. His senior sister had twenty "***" bodyguards, but in the end, only four survived, and even the AA-rated one was seriously injured. This clearly indicated that those families must have engaged more than one AA-rated expert to deal with his senior sister. They had really gone to great lengths to plot against her!
"Senior sister, let’s just head back to our country for now. Here in Africa, there’s not much we can do even if we want to." Lin Feng thought it over and ultimately decided it was best to temporarily bring his senior sister back to their country. This way, they could strategy for the long term. Besides, Africa was not as safe as back home.
"That’s the only choice we have now, but how do we get back to our country?" Chu Meng knew her junior brother was suggesting the best course of action under the circumstances, but as she glanced at the endless wilderness outside, she wondered how they could possibly make it home.
"Actually, I was planning to take you to an airport. Let’s go there and head back to our country. I know the location, and we just need to head in that direction." Lin Feng looked at Chu Meng, who was visibly exhausted, and felt helpless. He wanted to let her rest, but under the current circumstances, it was best to hurry on their way. Once they were back in their own country, everything would be easier to handle.
Then, before Chu Meng could react, Lin Feng had her on his back and began to sprint at a breakneck pace.
"Junior brother, your injuries! Quickly, put me down!" Chu Meng, riding on Lin Feng’s back and seeing how fast he was running, began to panic. He was injured; he shouldn’t be carrying her at such speed. This would only worsen his injuries. That just wouldn’t do!
"My injuries are truly healed. Just rest easy on my back for a while. Trust me, I’m fine. Besides, this way, we can leave here faster." Lin Feng reassured his senior sister briefly, then lowered his head and continued on their way. He knew she was worried about his wounds, but he was sincerely alright, and carrying her did not wear him out at all.
"Alright, junior brother, if you get tired, let’s stop to rest and make sure you tell your senior sister," Chu Meng advised, realizing there was no point in resisting any longer. She settled down on Lin Feng’s back, no longer distracting him as he carried her at a rapid pace.
However, as Lin Feng’s speed increased, Chu Meng’s heart couldn’t stay calm. His pace was such that carrying her, he moved like a car speeding along...
Chu Meng was now noticing that the trees beside them were all but a blur in her eyes; this was no human speed—it rivaled that of sports cars. She had never imagined that a person could actually do something so extreme. It was beyond belief—unless one witnessed it with their own eyes, no one would accept it as true!
And there was something else strangely odd that Chu Meng noticed—when driving a sports car at high speeds, one could feel the strong pressure of the wind, to the point where it was difficult to keep one’s eyes open. Yet now, on her junior brother’s back, she felt no wind pressure at all. What was going on? It was too odd...
The more Chu Meng contemplated, the more baffled she became. This clearly defied the laws of physics, but how could she know that this was possible because Lin Feng was controlling his True Qi to form a wind-shield around them? It conserved a great deal of energy. Otherwise, no one could possibly run so fast while carrying another person.
Trees flashed by as Lin Feng, with Chu Meng on his back, raced across the wasteland, leaving behind only a long, dust-filled trail.
