Chapter 1281 - 1279: Trapped
Chapter 1281 - 1279: Trapped
"Lin Feng always does things this way, it’s really frustrating..." From afar, Xia Lalan observed the children’s situation, her heart filled with worry. She hadn’t expected the Secular World’s mecha to be so powerful, to the extent that even the children couldn’t easily deal with them. Now, the children were facing life-and-death danger. If they were directly hit by those mecha, even if Lin Feng were an Immortal, he wouldn’t be able to save them. She just couldn’t understand how Lin Feng could so confidently let the children confront the mecha.
"Lanlan, you’ve been with Lin Feng for quite a while, there’s no need to worry about these things. You know him well enough—he wouldn’t do something he wasn’t sure about. As for those kids, you can rest easy. With Lin Feng around, there won’t be any problems," Ding Wan’er smiled as she comforted Xia Lalan, seeing how anxious she looked. Truthfully, she was also worried about the children, but she trusted Lin Feng. Although his arrangements often seemed unreliable on the surface, they had never gone wrong before. That’s why she had complete faith in him.
"Lanlan, if anything goes wrong with the kids, we’ll make sure to demand an explanation for you!"
"Let’s just listen to Lin Feng, but watching the battle over there, it’s really incredible. Even those children are stronger than us. We need to step up, sisters!"
"Yeah, if we don’t, there might come a day when even if there’s a fight, we won’t get a chance to see it!"
"That’s not the most important thing. The key is that we can’t become a burden to Lin Feng. We need to push ourselves harder and focus on cultivation!"
"Lanlan, when you have time, could you give us some guidance? We’re all serious about improving."
...
The women chatted among themselves, expressing their complete trust in Lin Feng. His decision to let the children handle the situation meant they were capable, so there was no need to worry about them. As the conversation shifted, it naturally moved toward the topic of cultivation, leaving Xia Lalan speechless.
In truth, they were all feeling anxious. In the past, it hadn’t seemed like a big deal, but now, with the enemies Lin Feng faced becoming increasingly powerful, they found they didn’t even have the privilege of being spectators. This realization left them desperate to enhance their own strength—not for any other reason but to avoid becoming a liability to Lin Feng.
Eventually, the topic centered on Xia Lalan. Being the strongest among the women, she was naturally the best candidate to offer guidance. More importantly, they had long since accepted Xia Lalan, sincerely treating her as a "sister" and wanting to build a close relationship with her. However, Xia Lalan, being slightly oblivious, hadn’t picked up on their intentions, thinking Ding Wan’er and the others were simply being kind to her...
"Don’t worry, the kids will be fine. Let them show what they’re capable of first." Lin Feng nonchalantly responded to Jack’s concerns. He understood the children’s capabilities well; dealing with these mecha wouldn’t be an issue for a while. That’s why he wasn’t worried at all.
The Old Monster and the others watched quietly, saying nothing. Whatever Lin Feng decided, they followed accordingly.
The two Demon Kings perched on Lin Feng’s shoulders observed the scene as well, stunned. They hadn’t imagined that the Secular World’s technology had advanced to this extent. The impressive skills of these mecha exceeded their expectations.
However, no matter how remarkable the mecha were, in their eyes, they were nothing more than toys. To put it bluntly, if they returned to their original forms, a single slap would flatten those mecha into iron pancakes. But as far as ordinary cultivators were concerned, these mecha were indeed terrifyingly strong.
"Then... well, alright!" Jack, still worried but seeing Lin Feng speak with such confidence, had no choice but to stay silent and watch alongside others. Observing the children dealing with the mecha, Jack couldn’t help but feel increasingly uneasy.
Time ticked by in the blink of an eye!
Within the Illusion Array, the mecha continued aimlessly wandering, unable to escape the array’s confines. Edward was so frustrated he could have vomited blood. No matter what he tried, he couldn’t break free from it; it felt like dealing with a ghost. But he wasn’t one to give up easily. Resolving to avoid defeat, he commanded his subordinates to keep trying.
Outside the Illusion Array, however, the situation for the mecha fighting the children was far worse. Their armor was now riddled with wounds—though none of them had suffered fatal damage and could still fight. Their operators were growing anxious, eager to deal with the children and then eliminate Lin Feng. But the children gave them no opportunity, refusing to let up for even a moment. The mecha operators were beyond exasperated, silently cursing their luck at encountering such formidable kids, whom they deemed utterly monstrous...
At this moment, however, the children were in far worse shape than before. Bleeding from injuries, they had lost the speed they initially relied on. Yet, they gritted their teeth and pressed forward, waiting to see who would make a mistake first—if the mecha slipped up, that would mark the moment they dismantled them completely!
It seemed the time had come.
Observing the children’s state, Lin Feng nodded to himself, sensing they’d reached their limit. With that realization, he called out to the children fighting the mecha: "On the path of cultivation, you will face countless opponents who seem impossible to defeat. Even if you’re not up against mecha, there will be Demon Beasts, specialized Puppets, and undead creatures forged through Secret Techniques. Someday, you will encounter challengers like these. Remember this—regardless of the battle, strength is Eternal. Only when your power reaches its peak can you conquer your enemies. All else is meaningless."
Lin Feng’s voice was loud, enveloping the surrounding area. For several miles, everyone could hear him clearly.
The kids, upon hearing Lin Feng’s words, suddenly regained their spirit. His words had struck a chord—strength is Eternal. Weren’t they all currently pursuing strength? Why had they focused solely on dodging the mecha’s attack, neglecting to harness their power?
While battling the mecha, the children exchanged glances and immediately understood each other’s intent. In an instant, their fighting styles transformed—from evading as much as possible to actively launching attacks. This sudden shift left the mecha operators dumbfounded, wondering if the kids intended to die since their tactics seemed so reckless.
But within mere moments, the mecha operators abandoned their initial thoughts, focusing entirely on countering the children’s offensive. The children’s attacks were so swift they couldn’t entirely avoid them; meanwhile, their attempts to strike back proved futile. Whenever they tried, the kids vanished from their range of vision. How could a battle like this even continue...
While the clashes outside grew increasingly intense, Edward, trapped within the Illusion Array, sneered at Lin Feng after hearing his speech.
"Ridiculous! Do you really think this is a classroom? Who do you think you are? Speaking a few words like that, expecting they’ll change anything? Utterly absurd!" Edward couldn’t comprehend Lin Feng’s meaning and dismissed his words as incomprehensible gibberish with no scientific basis. In his mind, Lin Feng was merely spouting nonsense. A handful of statements causing a complete turnaround? What a joke!
"Doesn’t matter. I’m teaching my students, none of your business!" Lin Feng retorted coolly, glancing at Edward trapped within the Formation. Teaching his students was entirely unrelated to Edward.
"You... just wait! I’ll kill you yet!" Furious, Edward shouted vehemently at Lin Feng. Afterward, he threw himself into finding a solution to his entrapment, frustration close to driving him to the brink.
But unless he broke free from the Illusion Realm, he couldn’t even see Lin Feng, let alone plan to kill him. Desperate, he gathered his subordinates, urging them to brainstorm a way out of their predicament.
"You all need to figure out how to get out of here!"
"Boss, we don’t have any ideas!"
"Think... just think harder!"
"Boss, we don’t even understand what’s happening here."
"Boss, I remember seeing a Huaxia movie once. This seems like some sort of Formation."
"Why didn’t you say so earlier? Quickly, tell me how to break it!"
"I don’t know..."
...
The mecha gathered around Edward, each venting their helplessness. No matter what brute-force attempts they made, leaving the array wasn’t possible. Unfortunately, their knowledge of such formations was insufficient to devise any plans. Just as they collectively ran out of options, an idea struck Edward’s mind.
If they couldn’t escape skyward, maybe they could go underground?
With that thought, Edward immediately ordered one of the mecha: "Dig downward! Try leaving through the underground route—I refuse to believe Lin Feng could affect what lies beneath!"
At this point, Edward had no other feasible options. He resolved to test every potential method, hoping the underground passage might be free of Lin Feng’s influence.
The chosen mecha, upon receiving Edward’s orders, began excavating. Its arms worked tirelessly, forming a hole in the ground, and within moments, it had tunneled down nearly twenty meters!
Yet, to the mecha operator’s frustration, even at that depth, he discovered no way to break free from Lin Feng’s array. Worse still, the earth above him suddenly collapsed, burying him alive! Alarmed, the trapped mecha panicked, knowing suffocation was imminent if an escape couldn’t be managed...
Edward aboveground hadn’t anticipated such an eerie development—a seemingly straightforward plan ending with his subordinate vanishing in the soil. Unsettled by the uncanny circumstances, he decided to switch tactics. If digging wasn’t a solution, perhaps brute force could be. He resolved to obliterate the underground route with an explosion, unwilling to concede defeat.
With bitter determination, Edward used his command system to trigger a self-destruct sequence, detonating the buried mecha!
