Chapter 59: Roden VS Heinz II
Chapter 59: Roden VS Heinz II
Roden was blown away by the fire blast, the impact smashed into his back throwing him away.
He coughed up blood and spat out a thick glob of red unto the ground.
He activated his Blood Regeneration immediately trying to mediate the damage.
He looked down to assess himself and realised that the outer layer of his clothes had disintegrated, revealing the armour underneath.
The armour had saved him... that and the fact that Heinz had not fully recovered.
Even with the drugs wearing off, he was still weak and slow otherwise if a Level 3 had hit him directly like that, there would be a bloody hole in his back.
Grade-2 armour or not.
The amount of blood energy he burned through to successfully regenerate was enormous and his Blood Storage was nearly emptied, barely leaving anything.
Roden scrambled to his feet as his joints and muscles screamed. He forcefully ignored the pain because he did not want to be caught off guard again.
Seeing his son’s situation, Jim grabbed the body closest to him and flung it at Heinz.
But Heinz had his mana back and his senses were back at 70%. It was not 100%, but it was enough for him to sense the projectile coming and dodge it.
Jim grabbed another corpse and heaved it up.
Seeing his action, the rest of the men charged at him, but Jim threw the next one before they could reach him.
Heinz dodged again and shouted at Jim, "Your actions have no effect! Now that I have recovered, I will kill your brother and then come for you."
He turned to Roden, to find him standing in place with his hands were holding two corpses.
"He was not throwing it at you," Roden said calmly.
Heinz watched as the corpses noticeably shrivelled as Roden drained their blood energy.
"And he is not my brother..." Roden said. "He is my father."
*Blood Berserk*
Red vapour began to rise from Roden’s skin, it curled off his arms, shoulders and face.
The unrefined blood energy coursed through his body, enhancing his physical stats to an unreasonable level.
His eyes turned red... not the typical crimson iris that vampyres got when agitated or in action... no, his entire eyes were completely red with no white or pupil left.
Just glowing blood red.
Roden smiled widen into something crazed as he charged at Heinz.
Heinz smiled even wider and he did not panic; he simply activated one of his skills slowly.
In less than a second, a mana shield formed around his body. It was almost a centimetre thick, and it covered him from head to toe.
Roden did not change his expression. He held his sword in an iron fist and struck at Heinz’s stomach.
Heinz did not move... he just stood there with contempt in his eyes.
He wanted to show the boy the difference in strength, so he let the strike hit.
Roden’s sword struck the shield, and it felt like he was hitting a layer of foam. The blade was stopped and the impact did not reach Heinz’s body at all.
"Hump," Heinz sneered. "You think because you held your own against me before, you can break my mana shield? It is not that easy, punk."
He waved his hand and a fireball shot from his palm and slammed into Roden’s chest.
Roden was struck instantly by an intense wave of power that stormed into his chest.
He was thrown backward and his mouth filled with blood. He even heard his bones creak almost on the verge of breaking.
He hit the ground, tumbled across the ground before coming to a stop.
Before Heinz could speak, Roden was back on his feet, his eyes still laser focused on Heinz and his smile was still there.
"You have no idea who you are dealing with," Heinz said as he shook his head. He glanced at his men, still entangled with Jim before he turned back to Roden and walked toward him slowly. "Just surrender or I will show you the difference between us."
"Very well." Roden spat blood onto the ground. "AGAIN!"
He charged ignoring the blood that flew from his mouth... ignoring the pain in his chest.
"Since you want to die so soon," Heinz laughed, his voice was wild and almost crazy. "Let me send you on your way."
He activated his mana shield again and the translucent layer covered his body instantly.
Roden dropped his sword letting the blade hit the dirt.
He rushed toward Heinz like he wanted to try the same attack as last time... only this time, he had no weapon.
Heinz sneered. "Come on, boy... You are certainly looking for death this time."
Roden’s claws appeared and blood energy pooled into them, giving them a red glow. The light grew brighter as he ran towards Heinz.
Just before he slammed into Heinz’s shield, the bloody glow reached its maximum and the claws hummed with power as cracks appeared on them.
Heinz’s eyes widened and anxiety flickered across his face, as he had underestimated whatever state the boy was in.
But it was too little, too late for him to react.
The next moment, a terrifying storm of energy struck Heinz’s mana shield. The shield that had easily blocked Roden’s full power strike was shattered into pieces like glass under a sledge hammer.
Although he shattered the shield it still managed to absorb most of the force behind the attack but that wasn’t the only effect of blood energy.
The unstable blood energy from Roden’s attack poured into Heinz’s body.
The unrefined blood energy was full of negative emotions made worse by the Blood Berserk ability that was active.
Fear... anger... despair... all flooded into his mind causing his thoughts to freeze as his body trembled.
He could not react when Roden’s second claw came for his neck.
Just before the claw could slash across his throat, a hand grabbed Roden’s wrist freezing him in place.
He tried to retaliate but was thrown backward with a casual throw.
