Chapter 58: Roden VS Heinz I
Chapter 58: Roden VS Heinz I
Although his mana was still in chaos, Heinz could still tell that the man at the back was stronger than the one actively charging at them.
"Take the little one," Heinz ordered his men. "Tok, Dama, Sil... you are with me."
Heinz charged at Jim and the three men he called glanced at each other before following right behind him.
Heinz chose to ignore Roden because he did not think Roden would be a problem for the rest of his men to handle.
Also, he did not want Jim to slaughter everyone before he could take him out.
He ran past Roden, ignoring him completely, and charged at Jim.
Just before he could go past Roden completely, his head snapped back as Roden grabbed his hair and pulled him with all his strength, throwing him away from the rest of his men.
Heinz’s eyes widened as he slammed into a tent tearing the canvas and bending the poles.
He rolled on the ground, trying to break his momentum and reduce the injury which he succeeded.
He rolled again just in time to avoid a stab aimed at his head... the sword struck the dirt where his face had been.
Roden charged forward but Heinz swept his staff low.
The wood of the staff cracked against Roden’s ankles causing Roden to stumble and almost fall.
He scrambled backward, retreating, giving Heinz enough time to get back up and stabilize himself.
The men charging at Jim froze as they turned back to look at their leader, stunned.
Jim took his chance and he attacked the three distracted men immediately.
He charged directly at the closest man and punched with all his strength at the back of his head, hoping to kill him instantly.
Unfortunately, the man was only thrown several metres away and his body tumbled across the ground.
Jim frowned. ’A Body Path awakened at peak Level 2.’ He had hoped to kill the man directly like the last two, but it had not worked.
Thankfully when the man tried to stand up, he failed to because he was seriously injured.
The new injury compounded with his drugs in his body causing his control to slip, making him fall unconscious.
The other two men raised their guard immediately and returned all their attention to their enemy.
Although they were stunned by the brutal injury their friend suffered, in the end, they were also experienced killers.
The first man stabbed his sword at Jim’s head while he second aimed for his chest, but the drugs in his body seemed to affect him worse.
His aim missed and his blade struck for Jim’s waist instead.
Jim moved his body in time to avoid the stab at his head but the attack from the second man still hit him as the blade cut into his side causing blood welled up from the wound.
The two men nodded at each other after seeing that their attack had been successful.
They decided to take care of Jim before going to help their leader with Roden.
Jim glanced quickly at his son to make sure he was okay then he focused on the men coming for him.
He pulled out a sword from his spatial ring and moved to attack.
He deflected the first man’s strike with his blade and without pausing, he kicked at the second man.
His foot slammed directly into the man’s face lifting the man up and into the air throwing him backward.
That gave Jim just enough time for his follow up attack.
He grabbed the first man’s sword with his transformed hand... his claws wrapped around the blade.
He ignored the cut on his palm and stabbed the man through the neck with his own sword.
Blood sprayed from the wound and the man’s eyes went wide as his hands clawed at the air before the light in his eyes disappeared.
Jim released the body and the sword and backed away just in time to avoid the hammer that slammed down on the ground where he had been standing.
The attacker tried to raise his hammer again... then he froze.
*Mind Raze*
Jim hit his mind with a confusion attack causing the man to fall into a state of disorientation.
His eyes went blank as the hands gripping the hammer lowered.
That loss of focus cost him his life.
Jim roared and charged, ignoring the two arrows that pierced his stomach.
He arrived in front of the confused man and slammed his claws into his eyes... straight into the sockets and straight for the brain.
He had learned from the first man that punches might not kill these enemies, so he decided to improvise.
His claws drilled into the man’s head and destroyed his brain in one hit causing the man to die instantly.
More arrows came at him causing Jim to back off, but two of them made their mark... one in his arm and another in his leg.
He retreated and began pulling the stuck projectiles from his body.
The pain was crazy but after suffering from his brother’s poison, he had developed a higher pain tolerance than normal.
He gritted his teeth and kept pulled each of them in one stroke.
*Blood Regeneration*
Once all the projectiles were out, he activated his bloodline ability and the wounds closed, stopping his bleeding to stop instantly.
He took another quick glance at his son and his face fell.
Roden was losing.
Although Heinz was of the elemental path that did not mean he had no physical advantage whatsoever... the truth was far different.
Elemental paths did have weaker physical strength than body paths, but their bodies were typically strengthened over time by their element.
It allowed them to hold more mana and increase their resistance to their own element making them stronger than they looked.
And because of his career path, Heinz had taken it upon himself to learn how to fight and the effect was very obvious against Roden.
His staff slammed into Roden’s stomach.
Roden lost all his breath in one gasp, and he tried to retaliate by striking Heinz’s head with his left claws.
Heinz moved his neck back allowing him to stay out of the reach of Roden’s claws then he threw an uppercut.
The punch connected cleanly with Roden’s mouth, and the impact almost snapped his jaw off.
The bone cracked and blood sprayed from his lips... his teeth might have shattered if not for the durability of Noble Vampyres.
Roden backed away immediately and activated Blood Regeneration.
The jaw knitted back together and the cracks on his teeth were reset in their sockets.
’Any time now,’ Heinz thought as a smile appeared on his face.
He could feel the pills’ effects slowly disappearing from his body and his mana was settling.
Roden saw the smile and he immediately got a bad feeling... he charged at Heinz trying to stop him.
Heinz dodged with a spin around Roden careless charge... he whirled in his staff in his hands and his smile got wider.
Roden turned just in time to see the top of the staff pointed directly at his chest.
*Fire Blast*
