Chapter 50: Starting Talia’s Plan
Chapter 50: Starting Talia’s Plan
Jensen laid on his back on a branch of a trees and stared at the sky.
He had decided against going back to the mansion.
Instead, he decided to just leave the town for now, for some reason he felt suffocated under the roof, so he decided staring at the stars would be better than a ceiling.
While he had been speaking to Daisaku, Lily and Talia had already gotten to work.
With her connections, Lily had secured a warehouse and began purchasing magical items.
She focused mostly on recovery items and lifesaving ones such as stamina regeneration potions, mana replenishing pills, healing potions ranging from normal grade to grade 1 and grade 2.
She thought about getting weapons but decided against it although she did end up purchasing a few, but only a handful.
She also bought recovery talismans and protective talismans especially the kind that created shields.
She did not purchase any items at Grade 3 because their plan did not include supporting Level 3s and according to Jensen, their own Level 3 didn’t need the help.
Of course, she could not buy too much at once without raising eyebrows and she did not need to.
Their plan spanned days before they would even need to open their selling booth so there was no need to rush.
Talia had also done her own part of the plan.
She posted a search mission in the mercenary guild and marked it as confidential with a reasonable pay.
She was not surprised when most of the people who signed up were the ones who had barely managed to awaken which was exactly what she wanted.
Jensen finished reading the report Roden had brought him, he closed the data-pad and then turned to Roden handing it back to him.
"Make sure everyone is here as early as possible tomorrow," Jensen ordered. "No need to stop... Just keep heading toward the destination. I will fall back to take care of any spies that follows you."
Roden bowed, then he turned and ran back toward the town.

Talia rolled out of bed and got to her feet, the sun had not even come out yet, but she had to get to work.
She grabbed the armour Lily had been kind enough to give her funds for.
It was made of leather from an unknown animal; it was dark brown and it fitted to her body perfectly; It was thick enough to protect her from grade 2 weapons while still been very light.
She thought moved to Lily as she strapped the pieces of her armour on and her mind went to what she had seen a few days ago.
She could not scrub the images of the office from her head, although just for a few seconds she had seen what had happened inside.
The smell was even worse that it was imprinted onto her mind although she did not dare bring it up.
Now that she had finally experienced the power the others were feeling, she did not want to do anything to jeopardise it.
She finished putting on her armour and tightened the last strap and opened her door where her brother, Roden stood in the hallway.
He was staring at the sword in his hand which he had been polishing it for hours, with his armour already on.
He looked up at her.
"Good morning, sis. Are you ready?"
Talia nodded. "Yes, and we cannot mess this up. This is our chance to take revenge on those bastards."
Roden’s jaw tightened. "I will try my absolute best to help you as much as possible."
"Not a word about this to Dad."
Roden nodded. "I know."
They made their way downstairs where their father was waiting for them.
Roden blinked his eyes several types, he still could not get over the fact that his father now looked like his elder brother.
Most of the grey hair was mostly gone with only a few strands remained, scattered through the black like silver threads.
They only made him look more handsome giving him that older gentleman’s look.
His previously wrinkled skin was all but gone, the only thing that made him look older than Roden were his beard and the little grey hair.
Just like his children, Jim was wearing low-grade 2 leather armour, and he looked up at them as they walked down the stairs and chuckled.
"You know I can hear you now, right?"
Talia and Roden glanced at each other and Jim sighed. "I do not mind you wanting to get revenge... but be careful."
His voice grew softer. "Revenge is a slippery slope... It just never ends."
Talia and Roden remained silent, they heard his warning, they understood it, but they did not agree with it.
Jim did not mind.
Truly, he did not forgive his brother for killing his wife, but he believed that living well was the best revenge.
Surpassing everyone’s expectations and building something that couldn’t have expected in a hundred years.
But he was not going to stop his children... they had to walk their own path.
The room stayed silent for a few seconds then someone coughed.
*Hmm* *Hmm*
Lily stepped downward from the stairs where she seems to have been standing there the whole time.
"Sorry to interrupt," Lily said causing Talia, Roden, and Jim to turn to look at her.
Once she had their attention, she began speaking.
"I have already booked the convoy that will be taking you to the location with supplies to last thirty people for a week... just as you requested."
Lily paused while she seemed to have been speaking to everyone, but her main focus was Talia because she was the leader of this mission.
But it seemed like Talia was not paying attention like her mind was somewhere else as she stared at her.
Lily’s eyes narrowed as she asked, "Why are you looking at me like that?"
Talia blinked and immediately shook her head.
"Ahem... Sorry... I was just thinking about something." Talia responded. "Please keep going."
Lily studied her for a moment before she continued.
"Alicia will be staying back under the care of Lady Maria to prevent any accidents." She looked at Talia. "I hope that is acceptable?"
"Yes... absolutely."
Lily gave them more information, then she reached into her spatial ring and handed then thousand low-grade mana stones to Talia.
"Ten thousand low-grade mana stones... this is for any spending that may be required during your mission." Lily’s gaze hardened. "Please, keep the spending to a minimum."
Talia nodded as she tucked the mana stones into her spatial ring.
Just as she was about to speak, Maria walked in.
She was carrying Alicia and the little girl was half asleep, her cheek pressed against Maria’s shoulder with her eyes were barely open.
Talia’s face turned weird again for a second before it quickly vanished but not before Lily picked it up.
Lily’s eyes followed Talia’s gaze to Maria for a second before her eyes seemed to widen when she realised why Talia had most likely been giving her such weird stares since.
They said their farewells.
Alicia hugged her sister, then her brother, then her father.
She was sad that she would not see them for a while, but she did not make any trouble, thankfully she would be spending time with someone she liked.
Talia climbed into their hovercraft and took off waving goodbye through the windows as Alicia waved back as they sped away.
