Everyone Wants Me Dead: The Villain Lord's Survival Diary

Chapter 60 – You must take good care of her

Chapter 60 – You must take good care of her

Inside Winterfell Keep, everyone was sleeping soundly except for the patrolling guards, until they were suddenly awakened by a loud roar and explosion.

"Insects! The great Saraken will burn you to ashes!"

"Tremble! Wail! Volcanic Eruption!"

"Boom—"

The entire Winterfell Keep shook violently, waking Sylvie and Loli who were nestled together.

They rushed to the window and saw that the fountain in the public area outside the castle's main hall had been replaced by a small, rising volcano.

Lava spewed continuously from the volcano, while eleven figures dodged the flying lava and besieged the Hellfire leader.

The glow of battle aura illuminated the entire public area as if it were daylight.

"Can someone tell me why there's a lava creature in the Eaglehold Lord's castle?"

"The intelligence department is a bunch of parasites! The Pope should burn them all!"

"By Balda, dodge those lava jets!"

The Templar Knights dodged the Hellfire leader's lava strikes while angrily exchanging words.

The massive stone figure before them, engulfed in flames, was incredibly sinister. Not only was it powerful, but its blue-green flames eroded their battle aura, causing excruciating pain even with the slightest contact.

As they spoke, one Templar Knight exposed a flaw under the relentless heavy punches of the Hellfire, getting drenched in flying lava.

The ghostly green flames clung to him like a bone-eating maggot, and he immediately screamed, rolling on the ground.

Saraken grinned menacingly, taking the opportunity to smash the rolling Templar Knight into a pulp, his deafening laughter echoing throughout Winterfell Keep.

"Pain! Fear! The ultimate delicacy!"

"Kehehehe..."

...

But Sylvie couldn't laugh. Saraken was undoubtedly a powerful subordinate, but if the fight continued, his Winterfell Keep would be torn apart.

He instructed Loli to hide well in the room, then, under the worried gaze of the young maid, grabbed his heavy sword and leaped off the balcony.

Feeling the terrifying pressure from above, the Templar Knights looked up and couldn't suppress their horror, exclaiming:

"Another Sky Knight!"

"It's the Eaglehold Lord, our assassination target, but isn't he an Earth Knight?"

"This intelligence is seriously flawed, if we can return..."

"Stop thinking about anything else, fight with all you've got!"

The Templar Knights reached a consensus, as if activating some switch. With a surge of blood mist, their bodies began to transform.

Most of them had blood-red eyes, their bodies swelling, with increased speed and strength, and their reaction speed becoming extremely formidable.

A few transformed into beast-headed humanoid monsters, discarding their longswords and raising steel claws to pounce on Sylvie and Saraken.

But their desperate counterattack was destined to be futile.

Empowered by the Dragon Vein, Sylvie, with immense strength, was like a tyrannosaurus, arriving later but striking first.

With a horizontal swing of his heavy sword, he domineeringly swatted forward. With a dull thud, a beast-headed Templar Knight who had lunged close was sent flying, bleeding from all orifices like a broken sack.

The body crashed into a castle wall, then rolled to the ground, vomiting blood, twitching twice before falling silent.

The swift kill left the surrounding Templar Knights in shock.

They had faced Sky Knights before.

But a Sky Knight who could kill an Earth-level Templar Knight with a single strike was something only those old monsters who had been Sky Knights for years could do.

But how old was the Eaglehold Lord before them? Was he even twenty-five?

"What are you looking at?"

Sylvie sneered, slashing vertically at a Templar Knight who hadn't yet recovered.

The slash of the heavy sword carried a majestic force, like a collapsing mountain, terrifying the Templar Knight into a cold sweat. He immediately raised his sword to block, but it was nothing more than a futile struggle.

With a loud "boom," as the dust settled, he lay miserably in the sword pit, his body crushed and broken by the heavy sword's momentum.

On the nearby battlefield, the Hellfire leader Saraken chased five Templar Knights, throwing lava strikes while grinning.

Not far away, three humanoid piles of ash testified to the ferocity and power of this demonic creation.

In the castle's main hall, Bane Bloodhoof, along with the Bloodhoof Clan and Claremont, hurriedly arrived.

Seeing more and more people around, and sensing two not-weak Earth Knight-level auras, the remaining Templar Knights felt the urge to retreat.

They weren't afraid to die, but they couldn't accept such meaningless sacrifice.

Each of them was an indispensable force in the upcoming plan.

Reporting back to the Pope in the Royal Capital and having him send stronger elite Templar Knights was the best course of action.

"Retreat! Regroup with Lord Wade, this mission has failed."

The Templar Knights exchanged glances, abruptly turning and fleeing in different directions out of the castle.

Sylvie snorted coldly, raising his sword in pursuit.

Saraken grinned, hurling continuous lava strikes, the massive lava blocks wrapped in ghostly green flames smashing towards the nearby Templar Knights.

One or two knights, focused on escaping, failed to dodge in time, their bodies igniting with blue flames. Yet they dared not stop, gritting their teeth against the searing pain, fleeing with all their might.

"Kehehe..."

The ghostly green flames flickered twice in Saraken's eye sockets. He didn't follow Sylvie in pursuit but turned back to stand in the fountain, resuming his form as a burning statue.

His task was to guard the castle; as long as Sylvie didn't instruct him otherwise, he wouldn't interfere.

Sylvie, relying on his speed, caught up with several Templar Knights, slaying them. He could easily guess why these average level forty-five Templar Knights were here.

They were here because he had disrupted the Pope's plans, affecting the production of the next batch of Templar Knights, and now they wanted to settle the score.

In the chase, with only three Templar Knights left, they reached the outer city of Winterfell, where Sylvie keenly sensed another surge of battle aura conflict.

Focusing his gaze, he saw distant flashes of battle aura, sword strikes flying everywhere, the streets of the outer city looking like they'd been ravaged by a tornado.

A bloodied figure was being besieged by three Templar Knights, none other than the Old Parker he'd met once before.

But Sylvie was puzzled. The last time he saw Old Parker, he was just an ordinary person.

How was he now surviving against three Templar Knights?

Curious, Sylvie focused his gaze on Old Parker.

[Name: Parker Lude (Life Overdrawn)]

[Identity: Grand Alchemist]

[Strength: Sky Knight Level 51 (Temporary)]

[Skills: Advanced Potion Making, Intermediate Fire Element Mastery (Unavailable), Basic Swordsmanship]

[Equipment: Lysna's Sword (Excellent)]

[Cologne Empire Reputation: 121 (He was once a renowned Alchemy Master nationwide, but now he's just a pitiful man who lost his wife, hiding his name for revenge)]

[...]

[Eaglehold Reputation: 102 (Many in Winterfell City are grateful to the kind Old Parker)]

...

"So he used a special method to overdraw his life, forcibly elevating his strength to a Sky Knight?"

Sylvie murmured to himself, knowing that Old Parker probably wouldn't survive, despite having a great fondness for the old man.

"Five, Seven, Eleven, why are you back? Is the mission complete? Where are the others?"

Wade was toying with Old Parker alongside two Templar Knights.

They were like brave matadors, while Old Parker was the clumsy, brute-force bull.

Unexpectedly, he glimpsed the three Templar Knights being chased by Sylvie.

"Lord Wade, retreat quickly, the Eaglehold Lord has advanced to Sky Knight, our intelligence was completely wrong!"

"And there's a powerful lava creature in Winterfell Keep, at least Sky Knight level."

"What!?"

Wade was shocked, suddenly feeling an overwhelming killing intent locked onto him.

Turning his head, he saw a sword light enveloped in golden battle aura slashing down at him.

Wade, being an experienced Earth Knight, instantly judged that this strike was unbeatable, immediately sidestepping to dodge, but couldn't avoid the subsequent powerful elbow strike.

With a loud "bang," despite the protection of battle aura, Wade was struck with such force that his chest caved in, his eyes bulging, staggering back a few steps, propping himself up with his sword, his aura gradually weakening.

The remaining Templar Knights, seeing their captain incapacitated with a single blow, turned and fled without a word, forgetting about the frenzied Old Parker.

Old Parker, like a mad dog, lunged and grabbed the legs of two Templar Knights, refusing to let go despite being kicked and beaten.

Though lacking Sky Knight combat experience and advanced knight techniques, with his battle aura, he could still hold onto two people.

Sylvie, seeing this, wasted no time, swiftly decapitating the two Templar Knights and quickly pursuing the others, killing them one by one.

When he returned, he found Old Parker collapsed on the ground, beside the dismembered Wade Templar Knight.

Old Parker was dying.

His body was covered in wounds, not a single intact spot, yet his eyes remained bright, looking intently at Sylvie who approached.

"My Lord..." Old Parker's voice was weak, breathless, "I heard... heard you also have a Demi-human girl you care about, is it true?"

Sylvie looked at Old Parker with a complex expression, nodding affirmatively.

"Hehe..." Old Parker chuckled, his eyes somewhat dazed, as if recalling something beautiful.

A line of bloody tears flowed from his eyes, gazing at the starry night sky, as if speaking to Sylvie or perhaps to himself:

"Then you must... protect her well..."
