Chapter 170
Chapter 170
Ch.170 Hell & Heaven
Before I finished speaking, Scarlet charged—
Roy vanished into the enemy horde.
“Eek!”
Scarlet wrapped her blade in dark aura and dove straight into the center.
‘Wait—dangerous!’
If death knights surround her, she’s dead.
And in that crowd, her speed won’t help.
I jumped after her.
But unlike the game—
She didn’t follow scripted moves.
Her movements were fluid, dynamic—dodging attacks with impossible grace, cutting down foes.
I rushed in, clearing enemies around her.
—Swoosh!
“Hans?!”
“Scarlet—what are you doing?!”
I’m invincible in the Arbiter’s Armor.
She isn’t. Die here—she becomes a puppet.
“The King can’t be allowed to escape!”
I extended my dark aura, slashing a wide arc through the crowd.
“True. But if you die, you’ll become his weapon.”
Roy’s greatest terror?
Killing enemies and using their corpses as puppets.
If Scarlet turned… we’d be doomed.
“But—!”
She hurled her dagger—
—Hehe… Hero. This is your grave.
Roy grabbed a ghoul beside him—
Black aura flowed from its corpse into him.
‘Damn. He’s healing.’
I aimed Equality—
He twisted grotesquely, dodging.
“Seeing Equality… I noticed something at the tip of your staff.”
He moved unnaturally fast—
—Clang!
Roy and Scarlet exchanged a single strike.
“Hah! Now you can’t use Equality, can you?!”
I dropped Equality—drew the Sword Saint’s Blade with both hands.
“Damn sneaky bastard.”
“Fair enough. I feel the same about you.”
Roy swung his blade downward—
Scarlet crossed her arms in an X-block.
—Clang!
Metal rang.
Her feet locked in place.
Roy saw his chance—he plunged into the fray to kill her.
“You die first, bastard!”
I charged in, blade raised, cutting down ghouls targeting Scarlet.
—Swoosh!
“Ugh! Back off!”
I swung hard—Roy retreated.
Then I saw it.
His blade darkened.
‘That’s his ultimate.’
If I’m hit—fine.
But if Scarlet or anyone behind me gets it…
I leapt.
“Blooming, Death.”
Roy unleashed a dark aura.
—Kiiiiing!
A sound like nails on glass.
Immense pressure crushed me.
Thanks to the Armor, I wasn’t cut—but the force nearly threw me into the sky.
I might’ve been launched if I’d hesitated.
“Ugh!”
—Crack!
I slammed the Sword Saint’s Blade into the ground—barely held my ground.
How far back? Maybe fifty meters?
The gouge in the earth suggested it.
This ultimate… is monstrous.
I had the Armor, Divine Light, and stat boosts.
And I was pushed back like this?
If it hit the chamber… I couldn’t even imagine.
The game said it was powerful.
This… went beyond.
Yet Roy stood calmly.
“Damn… the Arbiter’s Armor is annoying.”
‘What? He’s relaxed?!’
I couldn’t lose.
I forced calm into my voice.
“Regression’s annoying too, isn’t it?”
“Hah. Good. Let’s end this.”
—Swoosh!
—Slice!
—Kiiiek!
—Khh!
Then—a scream.
A body rose into the sky.
Half of it.
‘The guardians!’
Of course.
With guardians, undead can’t push.
Unless he brought liches on trucks.
“Hah… amusing. Let’s see how long you last.”
“Where do you think you’re going?!”
I lunged—but Scarlet was faster.
—Clang!
—Clang!
Her dagger flashed—pressuring Roy.
With guardians approaching… we might win.
“Annoying little pests!”
Roy swung—Scarlet was thrown back.
I fired Equality—
—Bang! Bang! Bang!
He dodged.
But—
—Khh!
—Thud.
He fell.
‘Now!’
I drew the Sword Saint’s Blade—lunged to stab him—
—Whoosh!
A death knight on horseback blocked my strike.
Then dozens of death knights surrounded Roy.
‘Dammit… thought we had him.’
“Hans! The guardians are here!”
I shouted as they closed in.
“Kill them all!”
“Protect me, my knights!”
Guardians vs. death knights.
Roy touched a knight’s body—
Black aura flowed into him.
‘No way I’m letting him heal.’
“Scarlet!”
“Got it!”
We charged.
Roy—now healed—swung his blade wide.
—Khh!
—Ugh!
We were thrown back.
Roy dashed past us—toward the Seal Stone.
“Ahh! No! Nekhuf! Icira!”
Nebhuf intercepted—
—Swoosh!
He slashed horizontally to block Roy.
But—
—Swoosh!
Roy’s left arm flew into the air, spurting blood.
“Ah…!”
He didn’t stop.
He’d planned to sacrifice his arm from the start.
‘Damn it! He meant to lose it?!’
Icira leapt to block—
Roy’s blade pierced her abdomen.
—Khh!
She collapsed.
Roy reached the Seal Stone.
His hand touched it.
The Stone blazed crimson.
“Ahh! Nooooo!”
The light blinded me.
—Crack-Snick!
A terrible sound.
—Clang!
From the broken Stone—a gate of dark red rose.
Light faded.
A gate carved with hundreds of faces—
Each screaming in despair.
It opened.
—Clank!
From the gate poured countless demons.
—Krrraaa!
—Freedom!
—Hahaha!
—Khhahaha!
Laughter echoed—mocking us.
“Hah…”
Roy, bleeding from his severed arm, vanished into the gate.
I rushed to Icira.
She sat on the ground, blood at her lips.
Cecilia ripped the blade from her body and cast holy magic.
“Khh… the… the Gate of Hell… opened?”
“Don’t speak! You’re bleeding badly!”
Her weak voice made me shout:
“Cecilia!”
I cast ‘Goddess’s Wedding Ring’ as well.
“It’s okay. We can still fix this.”
In the game, Hell connects to Heaven.
Through Heaven, you reach the gods.
The credits roll—but we can still fix this.
I suppressed my panic.
Icira grabbed my collar—face twisted in pain.
“Khh… go… go after Roy. Don’t let him release the God of Death.”
“B-but—!”
“I’m fine. I won’t die from this. But if the God of Death is freed… that’s the end.”
‘Damn it!’
“Go! Champion… prove the gods’ prophecy true.”
Her voice cracked.
I couldn’t speak.
“Go… or cough, cough… what are you waiting for?!”
Her eyes—calm, even now—scolded me.
I bit my lip.
Afraid she’d die because of my weakness.
I couldn’t let that happen.
But if I don’t go… everything we’ve done is meaningless.
Everyone dies.
I forced my voice out.
“Cecilia… Icira—?”
“She’s survived critical damage.”
A sigh of relief.
“See? I told you I’d be fine. Go… don’t worry about me.”
She smiled faintly.
I felt reassured.
“Good.”
“You were afraid I’d die because of you?”
“Yes. I can’t bear to see anyone die because of my failure.”
I stood.
“Cecilia—tend to Icira. The rest of you—help the guardians crush the undead. Guardians handle the zombies, but liches and death knights need you.”
Roy’s army must not reach Hell.
We don’t know what’s there—but with an army? We can’t stop him.
“Destroy the enemies here. Then follow me through the Gate. And Edward—”
I called. He jumped.
“Y-yes?!”
“You’re coming with me.”
“Me?!”
He pointed at himself.
I nodded.
“You know something about Hell, right?”
“I’ve… been there.”
“Guide us.”
“But… it’s dangerous. Monsters there aren’t like those in the human world.”
I shook my head.
“I know. Hell and Heaven are endgame zones.”
Their mobs have insane stats and levels.
Designed to slaughter overpowered players.
I stared at the crimson light bleeding from the gate.
“We have to go. What else can we do?”
I didn’t think about closing the gate.
All life was on the brink.
Before stepping through, I looked back at Icira.
“Icira… don’t die.”
“Don’t worry about me. I’ll live to see Aria have grandchildren.”
She smiled weakly—her wounds already healing.
“Yeah. You better.”
I stepped into the gate.
The scenery changed instantly.
Ash-gray dust.
Rivers of red lava.
We had entered Hell—and Heaven—the endgame of Destiny.
