—Woooaah!
—Clank! Clank!
Amidst swirling dust, thunderous shouts, and the clatter of weapons, I hastily cast my spell.
“Bone Well!”
I used Levi’s Dagger to erect a wall of bone—two long barriers stretching across both sides, forcing the enemy into a narrow chokepoint. Instantly, I ordered Leah:
“Leah! Use Wind to clear the dust!”
“Got it! Wind!”
Her incantation summoned a gale—dust vanished. I pulled the trigger of Equality toward the swarm of soldiers charging forward.
—Bang! Bang! Bang!
“Mia! Summon the Earth and Water Spirits—turn this area into a swamp!”
“Understood! Spirits of Water! Spirits of Earth! Answer my call!”
Her cry summoned two translucent beings: a blue wolf and a golden dwarf.
“Spirits! Turn this ground into a quagmire!”
The Water Spirit spat a torrent of water. The Earth Spirit mixed it with soil.
Instantly, the ground became a sucking mire. Soldiers charging forward sank knee-deep, staggering, slowed.
‘Good. Bought us time.’
Just as I thought that—
—Puff… puff…
Large ice spears erupted from the swamp, freezing it solid.
“Is that Ice Spear?”
“I’ll handle it. Fireball!”
Leah swung her staff—direct hit. The Ice Spears and frozen swamp shattered.
But this won’t last long.
I reinforced the Bone Walls—
—Whoosh!
Fireballs exploded, destroying the Bone Walls.
Liches, now visible, began firing Ice Spears at the swamp.
I aimed Equality and fired at the liches’ positions.
—Bang! Bang! Bang!
Bullets tore a straight line through undead soldiers.
I saw a lich collapse under the impact.
“Okay. One down!”
“One down? Don’t celebrate yet! Fireball!”
“You’re right. We can’t hold like this.”
I nodded.
“I know.”
This is temporary.
“Light of Creation! Save us, and crush the evil!”
Cecilia’s prayer echoed.
“Lost souls, seek the True Lord—He shall redeem you.”
Golden light radiated outward.
A holy spell—weakened undead, strengthened allies.
“Light of Creation!”
The golden glow blazed—charging undead slowed.
“All ranged attackers, fire!”
Leah and Icira unleashed magic. Nekhuf and Mia fired arrows and summoned spirits.
Scarlet hurled daggers. I kept firing Equality.
When ice met the swamp, Leah and Icira held the line.
Is there a better way?
We needed a way to stop them—this stalemate couldn’t last.
“Bone Well!”
I layered more Bone Walls in front of the existing ones—dense barriers.
—Whoosh!
They shattered under fireballs.
“Bone Well!”
New walls rose. Shattered again.
—Whoosh!
Bone fragments littered the open field like scattered gravel.
Endless.
“Arrows… we’re out. Use magic arrows?”
Nekhuf’s voice. Leah pulled an arrow quiver from her spatial bag and tossed them to the elves.
“Magic arrows drain stamina fast. Tell me when you’re low—I’ve got extras.”
I glanced at the group. Nekhuf and Mia looked exhausted.
“Nekhuf, use your Eye of Magic. Even if arrows miss, it’s fine. Mia, recall your spirits. This swamp is enough.”
Summoning spirits and archery drained their stamina more than others.
And neither had high HP stats.
But we needed to stop them—fast.
“Any ideas, Icira?”
“I’m not strong enough to seal all the liches’ power.”
Should I call Auros?
I didn’t know—but liches were annoying.
—Heeeing!
A black knight on a steed charged across the swamp.
—Bang! Bang!
Fell under my bullets.
At least he came out in the open.
Liches hid behind soldiers—hard to locate.

Roy, knowing we’d lose if this turned into a war of attrition, began sending zombies instead.
Ghouls—mangled human corpses on all fours—charged.
Disgusting.
But he meant business.

Dozens of ghouls.
Four-legged. Fast.
‘Damn it. Even debuffed, they’re this fast?’
Roy’s passive boosted them.
But Cecilia’s holy debuff was active too.
Still—no difference from regular ghouls.
—Squeee!
Then—a black doll appeared in my sight.
A decoy to mask zombie numbers.
But we’d been waiting for this.
I raised Equality instantly.
‘Got you, bastard!’
—Bang!
“Khh!”
Roy staggered backward.
“Not bad. I thought you’d be worn down.”
His voice—Cecilia’s face—smiled.
I shrugged.
“If you die, it’s over.”
“And if I break the Seal Stone… it’s over for you.”
He vanished back into the crowd.
—Bang! Bang! Bang!
I knew he wouldn’t die.
But I fired anyway—just to vent frustration.
“Ah… they’re coming again.”
“With the swamp, we’re fine—”
“M-Master! Look!”
Then I saw it.
A bright sphere, floating serenely over the swamp.
“F-Flare?!”
Flare—a high-tier spell.
Less power than Meteor, but lethal here.
“Dispel!”
Icira’s spell dissolved the orb.
“Phew. Close one.”
We held the line, using the swamp as a moat.
How long?
By the time the sun set—we’d held for a long while.
“Haa… haa…”
“Haa…”
Mia and Nekhuf sweated, exhausted.
I gave orders immediately.
“Nekhuf, Mia, Scarlet—rest.”
Icira, Leah, and I took over the frontline.
“Hah! You fight well. How long can you hold? We don’t sleep—we keep coming!”
“Shut up!”
Zombies poured endlessly.
We’d thinned them—but they kept coming.
—Kraaah!
—Khh!
Damn it… is there no way?
Our stamina dropped.
The chamber reeked of fire and frost.
Sweat stung my eyes.
I rubbed them—Leah’s arms trembled from swinging her staff.
She was struggling.
Icira’s face showed irritation.
First—call the guardians.
I’d forgotten them.
“Icira, bring the guardians we stored—and Edward.”
“Edward? Now?!”
“Yeah. Every hand matters.”
I could fight, but Leah needed rest.
She looked worried—then nodded grimly.
“Understood. I’ll bring them fast. Don’t break.”
“Don’t worry.”
“Teleport.”
She vanished.
In that moment—a Flare orb flew into the chamber.
“Damn it—!”
I leapt into the swamp, gathering the orbs and hurling myself into the mire.
Blinding light. Intense heat.
The swamp pulled me under.
Moments later—
—Weeeing…
A flash of blinding light.
—Kwaang!
A shockwave slammed into me—but the Arbiter’s Armor absorbed it.
Still… suffocating.
The swamp was pulling me in.
“Earth Spirit! Save Hans!”
Mia’s distant cry.
—Kwaang!
A colossal force yanked me free.
“Nice, Mia!”
“Master! Are you okay?!”
“Father Hans!”
I shook off mud.
“I’m fine.”
I glanced at the swamp—it had shrunk.
“Mia—rebuild the swamp.”
Then—a soft blue glow filled the chamber.
Icira, the guardians, and Edward appeared.
“Perfect timing! Guardians—push them back!”
The armored guardians charged—glorious armor, terrifying power.
“Leah, rest. Everyone—push them back!”
Each guardian was a powerhouse.
Against these zombies? They’d sweep them like dust.
And the guardians placed at the fourth Seal Stone? Still intact.
Ten total.
Enough to annihilate a kingdom.
“Counterattack!”
I raised Equality and the Sword Saint’s Blade—charged the enemy lines.
The guardians followed.
We butchered the zombies and soldiers trapped in the chokepoint.
The enemy, overwhelmed by narrow terrain, fell easily.
That left only one place Roy would appear.
That sneaky bastard…
“Where do you think you’re going?!”
—Clang!
Metal rang behind me.
I turned—
Roy, blocked by Nekhuf and Scarlet.
“Tch! Blind man and a woman?”
Of course you’d try this.
You knew we’d charge forward—and you’d target the Seal Stone behind us.
I aimed Equality at Roy—
‘Damn. If I fire, I’ll hit Nekhuf or Scarlet.’
He tried to break through them.
“Think you’re faster than me?!”
—Clang!
Scarlet lunged—her dagger plunged into his shoulder.
“Khh!”
She slashed hard.
Blood sprayed—but he slipped away—
—Bang!
Hit.
“Khh!”
Roy spat blood, staggering.
Scarlet swung—but missed—he staggered.
‘This time—he dies.’
I saw him leap onto the rubble—
“Get him!”
