Chapter 130
Chapter 130
Ch.130 Where Is Mia?
As Hans, Icira, and the golem vanished, the undead horde launched a full assault on the Imperial Capital’s walls.
If it were just infantry or knights, the Imperial Army would scoff—but
—Whoosh!
Trebuchets and arbalests rained relentless fire.
—The enemy can’t enter the barrier! Just block ranged attacks!
Soldiers, having seen ghouls burn upon touching the golden barrier moments ago, grew confident the undead would be halted.
But the undead army stepped through the golden barrier—unharmed.
—W-what?! How can undead—?
—Impossible…
The Imperial troops were baffled—their reaction unlike to the ghouls’.
—Priest! What’s happening?!
—How can undead pass through?
Undead were weak to divine power.
As beings defying divine order, they couldn’t receive the gods’ grace—it was basic common sense.
But…
—Roooar!
The army of the dead proved otherwise.
Bodies long dead—flesh reanimated—charged the walls, utterly unaffected by divine energy.
“Damn it! Kill them! Send these rotting corpses back to hell!”
“Throw Fireball Scrolls!”
Imperial soldiers unleashed arrows and bolts.
Under the aerial barrage, undead soldiers fell one by one, bleeding.
Seeing them bleed like humans, the troops relaxed inwardly—
they looked human, breached the barrier, but bled and fell like mortals.
—Kill them all!
—Undead scum bleeding? Absurd!
Morale surged—until they blinked in horror.
The soldiers who’d just bled and fallen… were rising again, pulling arrows from their wounds.
—Huh?
A soldier, bolt through his head, rose expressionlessly and yanked it out—a sight that sent chills through all.
“What are you fools doing?! Just burn them all with fire!”
Leah floated hundreds of Fire Arrows in the air and unleashed them.
—Whoosh!
Arrows sliced the wind—striking undead soldiers, who ignited from the wounds until fully engulfed in flame.
Only then did the undead stop moving.
—Fireball! Burn them with Fireballs!
—Stop wasting arrows! Use oil!
Now, the real battle began.
Undead scaled the walls; Imperial troops poured burning oil.
Magic—clearly not just liches—blasted the ramparts from the undead ranks.
At this rate, Imperial casualties would be severe.
“Lord Auros… won’t you attack directly?”
At Cecilia’s question, Auros shook his head.
“Wait for now. Humans can handle this.”
If he moved, he’d turn the tide instantly.
The King of the Dead knew that—
yet didn’t retreat.
Auros analyzed coldly:
‘Is he waiting for me to act?’
Likely planning to kill him to command more undead.
‘Perhaps he’s hiding somewhere…’
Roy had teleported—but might return if Auros intervened.
The battlefield was chaotic, with heroes and the adversary’s allies engaged.
Truthfully, if Auros were younger, he might’ve charged Roy.
As a dragon, his nature was warlike—he wouldn’t tolerate such insult.
But millennia of age had tempered his fire with wisdom.
There was no need to take unnecessary risks.
***
The snowfield—now a muddy wasteland, all snow melted.
“Whew. The damage is undeniable.”
Where the golem stood, a crater hundreds of meters deep held a small pool of water.
“It’s too strong. A few more shots like that, and this mountain range collapses.”
The heat and light still lingered.
“Shall we return?”
Icira nodded.
“Let’s. Teleport.”
Instantly, we were back atop the Imperial Capital’s walls.
Charred corpses littered the ground; the enemy army retreated.
Roy must’ve withdrawn his troops—
this was merely a skirmish. No reason to overextend now.
“Master!”
“Father Hans!”
Leah and Cecilia hugged me from both sides.
“You really killed that giant?!”
“Are you hurt anywhere?”
At their mix of shock and worry, I smiled unconsciously.
“No injuries. One-shot, just like I said.”
I stroked their heads.
“So… can you let go now?”
—Nope, nope.
Leah and Cecilia shook their heads stubbornly.
—Ta-dah!
“Hans-ssi! Are you alright?”
Scarlet approached, checking on me.
“Yeah. Seems nearly wrapped up here too.”
“But… you left that golem behind?”
Mistaking my intent, I replied casually,
“No, I killed it.”
She gaped.
“What? That huge thing?!”
“Did you use ‘Equality’?” Cecilia asked, stunned.
I shrugged.
“Pretty much.”
Scarlet’s eyes widened.
“At that size, ‘Equality’s power couldn’t reach the core… how?!”
“Well… haha, it just happened.”
As I tried to brush it off—
“It seems you used ‘Equality’ to exploit the backlash between divine power and magic.”
“What?!”
“That’s a real technique?!”
“Master! Show me too!”
The three were stunned—then Leah bounced eagerly.
“I want to see! Using divine-magic collision?!”
Their curiosity flared—as magicians and a saint, they were thrilled…
“I’d rather you didn’t… unless you want the Imperial Capital gone.”
“The capital… gone?”
“Master?”
Leah and Cecilia were shocked.
“Wow! That’s so cool! Teach me! Is it with ‘Equality’?!”
“Show me at the beach next time! I’m so curious!”
They lunged at me, eyes sparkling.
“Well… uh…”
“How wide was it? Mia said there was a mushroom cloud—is it true?”
“How do you do it with ‘Equality’?!”
“How much magic do you mix in?!”
Their eyes gleamed with near-madness—I instinctively stepped back.
‘What’s with their eyes?’
“Stop. Such a dangerous technique shouldn’t be known.”
Icira stepped forward, grabbing both their shoulders—
their cheeks puffed in protest.
“We’re just curious! That defies all logic!”
“Exactly! Publishing this as a thesis would revolutionize magic—no, make me the greatest mage in history!”
“Why did only Icira-ssi see it?! That’s unfair!”
“So what’s the magic-to-divine-power ratio?!”
One thing puzzled me.
My skill was a glitch—forcing magic to cast using divine power instead of magic.
But… why did they keep saying ‘mixed magic and divine power’?
That wasn’t how it worked.
Back in the game, this skill once caused a community uproar—
rumors of an ‘Easter egg’ or ‘developer secret.’
But it was just a data-loading error.
“You’re mistaken. I didn’t mix magic and divine power.”
“What? Impossible! I felt them mix in ‘Equality’!”
“Was it because I cast Magic Arrow first?”
To use this skill, I had to cast a spell first—copying it onto ‘Equality’s bullet.
They must’ve sensed that.
“No! Impossible! My senses clearly felt magic and divine power mixing in ‘Equality’!”
Icira—who rarely raised her voice—was adamant.
“But… as you know, I have no magic.”
She seemed to recall something.
“Huh?”
“Remember in your lair?”
“Oh! Right… your body couldn’t sense magic… I briefly felt it just before leaving your lair.”
Icira grabbed my wrist.
“Aah! Father Hans—what are you doing?!”
“No touching Master, even if you’re a dragon!”
“A-icira-ssi?!”
Cecilia, Leah, and Scarlet were shocked by Icira’s physical contact—but she closed her eyes.
“Stay still. I’m verifying my constitution.”
They pouted, clearly dissatisfied.
‘Wait—Scarlet’s not scheming to ruin my image, fine… but why are Cecilia and Leah openly sulking?’
‘Ah… could they have labeled Icira a rival?’
‘Do they really think I’d pursue a married mother?’
I glared sternly at the three, who were clearly thinking impure thoughts—
“Why… why are you glaring?”
“D-do you have a problem with us?”
Bold as ever, Leah and Cecilia avoided my gaze, eyes darting.
Scarlet just turned her head.
“There’s… no magic… none at all…”
Icira’s usually cold, expressionless face was filled with shock and disbelief.
“Then… the magic I felt?”
“It was your imagination. If I have no magic, how could I manipulate it?”
This skill only worked because I had the Sage’s Pendant, the Goddess’s Wedding Ring, and ‘Equality’.
(Though the Pendant could be replaced by Altarion’s Staff—I don’t have it now.)
Missing any one of the three, the skill fails.
“But… how?!”
Icira looked as if her world had crumbled.
“Even monkeys fall from trees sometimes. I made a mistake.”
“I’m a dragon! Not a monkey… I’m certain it was…”
She stared blankly into space, murmuring,
“It was magic…”
“So why does everyone insist magic was mixed in? Even Mia said that last time?”
“Huh? Mia saw it…?”
I recalled using it when saving the Elf Kingdom.
“She saw it? And she also said magic and divine power were mixed?”
Elves, though not as potent as dragons, were highly magic-affinity.
High Elves even more so…
Could both Icira and Mia be mistaken?
Unlikely.
They belonged to the top two magic-affinity races here.
‘Is my understanding wrong?’
Reality and game differ—discrepancies exist…
But still—
if this was a bug skill in-game…
how could it work in a world inspired by the game?
“Mia? Where’s Mia?”
“You called?”
As if on cue, Mia appeared atop the watchtower.
