Chapter 129
Chapter 129
Ch.129 I Felt Suspicious
Nekhuf, Scarlet, and I pressured the King at close range.
“Tch!”
He dodged our attacks with exquisite movements—but his speed was gradually slowing.
That was likely due to Cecilia’s debuffs and the slight HP drain from our repeated strikes.
—Fire Arrow!
—Spirits of Fire! Burn our enemies!
Leah and Mia provided timely support from the rear.
‘This might actually work!’
I couldn’t let Roy teleport—he mustn’t get the chance.
I aimed the Sword Saint’s Blade at Roy’s torso, but his attack was blocked by Altarion’s Staff.
He parried Nekhuf’s sword with his right hand. Scarlet exploited the opening, lunging for the King’s neck—but
“Kuh!”
It barely missed.
Well… I’d expected as much.
I never believed we could kill him outright.
It was Selena who held the power of Regression.
We had to separate the King from Selena’s body.
But how?
Killing him was impossible due to infinite Regression.
First, eliminate the summoned creature—then figure out the next step.
Roy, blood trickling from his neck, twisted his face like a demon.
“You pests!”
The King kicked off the ground, soaring high into the sky, and raised his sword.
“I, the King, summon thee! Restless spirits buried beneath the earth—answer my call!”
The sky darkened instantly—a sure sign of summoning.
The King hovered serenely in the gloom, then hurled his sword downward.
—Kra-thud!
His blade struck the earth like black lightning.
The ground slowly split open; the sword fell into the fissure, which then sealed shut.
‘It’s the Wraith of the Giant.’
That incantation—it could only summon the Wraith of the Giant.
An entity surpassing even dragons in HP and sheer size.
Unlike the Apocalypse Serpent, its raw damage wasn’t extreme—so it could be killed.
But at what cost?
If we used overwhelming damage… wouldn’t the Imperial Capital suffer collateral damage?
As I thought this—
—Kraaa-BOOM!
A massive earthquake shook the ground.
I shouted to Auros on the watchtower,
“Lord!”
“What is it?!”
“A colossal golem will emerge from the earth! Teleport it somewhere uninhabited—I have a way to kill it in one blow!”
“Then why not just kill it here?!”
At the Lord’s puzzled tone, I yelled back,
“Its attack radius is too wide! The capital’s walls might collapse!”
An attack powerful enough to one-shot a foe surpassing ancient dragons wasn’t ordinary—it was catastrophic.
I felt Auros’s gaze lock onto me.
After a tense silence, he sighed.
“Hm… Very well. I’ll lend my strength.”
“Hahahaha! My adversary! Even blessed by a false god, you’ll struggle against the Wraith of the Giant!”
The King sneered from the sky.
I fired ‘Equality’ at him several times.
—Bang!
—Bang!
—Bang!
Roy dodged sideways—as if he’d anticipated my shots.
“Damn nuisance! Auros! Use Gravity to pull him down!”
Annoyed by his hovering, I shouted—and he swung his staff.
“Until next time, adversary. Teleport!”
He vanished midair.
“Tch.”
As I clicked my tongue—
—Kraaa-BOOM!
An even stronger earthquake shook the land.
“Kyaaah!”
—I-is it an earthquake?!
Imperial soldiers panicked—but the undead charging the walls showed no fear.
Soulless, they obeyed their King’s command without hesitation.
“Hans-nim, what should we do?!”
Scarlet appeared at my side.
“What should we do? Cecilia, Leah, Scarlet—handle the undead! I’ve got another opponent!”
“Huh?”
She sounded confused—but the ground split open with a deafening roar.
—Kraaa-BOOM! KRRR-AAAANG!
“Kyaaah!”
This quake dwarfed the last.
From the chasm rose a giant of immense size—a head forged of earth and stone.
—W-what is that?!
—I-is it a golem? But… it’s too huge!
Slowly, the giant rose, pressing its massive palms to the ground until fully upright—casting a vast shadow over the capital.
Its height—surely hundreds of meters—overwhelmed everyone.
—H-how can we beat that?!
—I-it’s impossible… the end is here.
Seeing morale collapse, I shouted urgently,
“Lord Auros!”
“Understood! Teleport it to an uninhabited place, yes?”
“Yes! Just send me and Icira!”
He raised his hand high and cried,
“Teleport!”
A giant blue magic circle blazed in the dark sky—
then pulsed intensely…
—Whoosh~
‘Where… the snowfield?’
“My lair is nearby.”
—Roooaaar!
Only the giant wraith and we two now stood on the snowy mountain.
“Ugh… it’s freezing.”
Unprepared, I was hit by knife-sharp cold.
Spotting the wraith reaching for us, I barked at Icira,
“Icira, dodge!”
“What about you?”
“I won’t die even if hit.”
She seemed about to argue—but just sighed.
“Haah… Blink.”
She vanished—
—Kra-THUD!
A colossal palm slammed onto me.
But… it didn’t hurt at all.
The snow made it cold—but painless.
The Arbiter’s Armor truly was overpowered.
The heavy hand slowly lifted, revealing the snowscape.
“Let’s finish this fast. It’s cold.”
I felt a slight tremor—this skill was rarely used, after all.
It was excessively powerful.
Though I, the caster, wouldn’t die, anyone caught in the blast would likely perish.
Moreover, this was a bug skill from the game.
Normally, there’d be no reason to use a glitch—but without it, killing this golem would be tedious.
The Wraith of the Giant had five cores.
Destroy all five to defeat it—and to reach them, I’d need to dig through mountains of earth.
But this broken bug skill could kill it instantly—if specific conditions were met.
First: the attack was so strong, even dragons could die if caught in it.
Hence, no one could be nearby.
“Icira, stay far away. If you’re caught in this… you’ll die.”
She must’ve sensed my seriousness—she nodded without a word and vanished from sight.
‘This should be safe enough.’
This skill was notoriously problematic in-game.
It forcibly loaded the dragon-exclusive skill data—using it too often crashed the game.
Thus, it was only used in dire emergencies.
But here—in another world—perhaps some cosmic law enabled it.
I opened ‘Equality’s cylinder.
White, black, and the orange bullet I’d gained saving Aria.
I loaded the black one…
“Magic Arrow!”
A thin blue arrow flew—and struck the giant’s hand.
—Pop!
Not even a scratch.
‘As expected.’
“Alright, time for you to rest.”
I removed the Sage’s Pendant and tossed it into the snow.
In-game, this set my magic to zero—leaving only divine power.
Pulling the trigger would force the gun to strain for magic to cast magic.
But with only divine power in my body… no magic would come.
And so—
—Fzzzt…!
Sparks erupted from ‘Equality,’ turning it crimson.
“Farewell.”
—Paaash!
Something white erupted from my barrel—
—Eeeeee!
The world turned blinding white. My ears rang; hearing vanished.
The light—no, the radiance—lasted not seconds, but tens of seconds.
A monstrous gale yanked me—then hurled me backward with greater force.
I’d kept my eyes shut, yet the brightness pierced my eyelids.
At least I’d shielded my face with the Arbiter’s Gauntlets—my eyes didn’t hurt.
Bracing flat against the ground, I waited for the pressure wave to pass.
‘This is the worst part.’
Since the skill triggered on bullet impact, unless fired from extreme range, the caster always got caught in the shockwave.
Thankfully, it was a snowfield—if this were a city…
Just imagining it made me dizzy.
‘Total chaos.’
Soon, the ringing and wind subsided.
—Peeeek… Wheee~
As the tinnitus faded, I opened my eyes—
A massive mushroom cloud soared into the sky.
“It’s over. Whoa!”
A black dust storm—unlike anything before—rushed toward me.
Just as the soot engulfed me, someone seized my wrist.
“Blink!”
With a melodic voice, the scenery shifted instantly.
Icira frowned, her delicate brows knotted.
“How can a human cast such magic?”
“What if you try casting magic using divine power?”
“That’s impossible! Divine power and magic are fundamentally different forces!”
She was right—that was the world’s physical law.
Magic and divine power were opposites:
You couldn’t channel divine power through magic circuits, nor cast holy magic by expending magic.
But with a Concept Artifact, that ‘common sense’ could be shattered.
“But it worked, didn’t it?”
Icira’s eyes widened in disbelief—her pupils trembling.
“I’ve… seen divine power enter magic circuits before… but…”
Her eyes hardened with conviction.
“That level of power is absurd. It’s stronger than a dragon’s breath—no… it’s something else entirely.”
“Huh? Stronger than dragon’s breath?”
That surprised me.
In-game, it was a glitch that forcibly loaded the last skill in the data file—which happened to be dragon’s breath.
“Isn’t it obvious? Look at the mushroom cloud still rising! I’ve lived long among dragons—but never seen anything like this.”
She pointed at the black cloud.
“Hm… I’ve never actually seen dragon’s breath here.”
I’d been in this world for nearly ten years—but only met dragons in the past few months.
So I had no idea of their true power.
“At that level, even Lord Auros would produce something similar—or weaker.”
Her words left me suspicious.
