Even after experiencing the shamelessness of the early morning, Bai Yiran still had a wonderful sleep. However, when she woke up, she discovered that the alarm on her phone had been turned off, and it was already nearly ten o’clock.
Oh no! I’m totally late for work!
She quickly sat up, lifted the blanket, and was about to get out of bed when Leng Yichen’s reprimanding voice came from beside her.
"Don’t move so abruptly, you’re pregnant now."
Bai Yiran was stunned, turning around to find Leng Yichen sitting on the recliner by the window, a book beside him, glaring at her with his narrow eyes.
"I..." Bai Yiran paused, "Did you turn off my alarm?"
Leng Yichen stood up and sat beside Bai Yiran, "You didn’t rest well last night."
"But, now I’m late for work."
Bai Yiran stopped talking to Leng Yichen and got out of bed to wash up.
Leng Yichen leaned at the bathroom door, watching Bai Yiran wash her face and brush her teeth. "I’ve already taken the day off for you, your boss didn’t say anything."
Bai Yiran rolled her eyes; wasn’t that obvious? With President Leng personally calling, what could Yao Zhiqing possibly say?
Bai Yiran started rinsing, cleaning off the toothpaste from her mouth, and glared at Leng Yichen, "You’re making it difficult for me, what will Yao Zhiqing think of me?"
Leng Yichen waved his hand, "I give her business, she gives you a job, it’s a fair exchange. I don’t think she’ll think anything of you, at least she wouldn’t fire you."
Bai Yiran walked out of the bathroom in a huff, "You speak as if Yao Zhiqing gave me a job just for your sake."
"Isn’t that so?" Leng Yichen reached out and wiped the corner of Bai Yiran’s mouth clean of toothpaste foam.
Bai Yiran puffed her cheeks at him, initially wanting to throw a tantrum, but was appeased by his tender gesture.
She thought, she’s probably hopeless. She aspired to be a strong independent woman, yet every time ended up yielding to this man.
"Why aren’t you at the company?" Bai Yiran checked the time; at this hour, Leng Yichen should be at work, not here flirting with her.
"Just returned from a business trip, no hurry to get back to the company." Leng Yichen said, wrapping his arms around Bai Yiran, "Besides, there’s something important to do today."
Bai Yiran got up at an awkward time, missing breakfast and not yet lunchtime. She wasn’t particularly hungry, thinking of waiting until noon to eat, but Leng Yichen insisted she eat a croissant and drink a glass of milk.
She didn’t mind the taste and obediently ate it. Afterward, Leng Yichen took her out to an outrageously expensive private hospital.
Leng Yichen still felt it was safest to have Bai Yiran undergo a comprehensive check-up. Even though Bai Yiran thought it a bit excessive, she let him do as he wished. Besides, it was the first time Leng Yichen accompanied her for a check-up, and it felt really nice.
The doctor’s assessment was similar to what Bai Yiran had heard at her previous check-ups, only more detailed because of Leng Yichen’s presence.
Finally, the doctor looked at Leng Yichen and seriously said, "In the first three months of pregnancy, extra care is needed. No strenuous exercise or work, and things between couples should be avoided for now."
The doctor’s words made Bai Yiran’s face flush, and even Leng Yichen’s expression turned slightly awkward.
For lunch, Leng Yichen took Bai Yiran to a very clean Western restaurant because she suddenly craved Italian vegetable soup.
The food was served quickly; Bai Yiran mainly wanted the soup, so as soon as it was on the table, she started drinking it eagerly.
"Careful, it’s hot."
Leng Yichen was reminding Bai Yiran when a phone call interrupted.
