Chapter 248: Curtain Opens
Chapter 248: Curtain Opens
The students stepped into the glowing array one after the other, and once everyone was standing on it, they were swallowed up in a flash of light.
When Kaiser opened his eyes, the first thing he saw was a towering medieval wall that seemed to want to touch the heavens.
However, this was only because he was lying on his back.
The wall wasn’t particularly tall, just average.
When he looked around, he saw other Class-E students rising to their feet and looking disoriented.
He also stood up, dusted his uniform, then glanced around. Very quickly, he heard Hazel’s voice.
"Everyone assemble over here!"
She looked at everyone present, then started giving out instructions.
"While I and the others on my attacking team go to Class-A’s territory, Liam will be in charge of leading the defenders. Sebastian, please listen to whatever he asks you to do to help."
She shifted her gaze to Ariel and Mordica.
"You two. Your mission is very important. If you can’t get the flag alone, blow the signal and we’ll come to assist you."
Only Ariel nodded, fidgeting nervously. Mordica remained aloof.
"Now, we’ll be departing immediately. Everyone, let’s climb onto the walls to have a better view."
The students climbed the ladders attached to the walls, climbing several meters high before they could stand on the walls.
To their surprise, the wall was very wide, capable of allowing twenty students to line up from one end to the other.
"Interesting..."
Kaiser muttered, then looked around. There were four other barricaded cities on the distance, serving as the territories of the other classes.
They were easily identifiable, as the walls had their respective letters painted largely on them.
Hazel gave Liam one final glance before turning to her team of ten.
"Let’s go."
She took the first step, directly jumping off the wall. When she landed, the ground beneath her cracked, but she wasn’t injured.
Feeling invigorated by her brave jump, the other ten also roared and jumped.
Some cushioned their fall by rolling, while the others simply withstood the impact by themselves.
As for Kaiser, he landed softly beside Hazel, leaving only a faint footprint on the ground.
Hazel looked at him suspiciously. "Are you a butterfly fairy or something?"
He didn’t answer. Her question was irrelevant.
They all started moving towards the city tagged with the red color A.
"Everyone! Don’t forget, we are only acting as a decoy. Although we’re going to act like the main attack team, we are not. Don’t force yourself and get too injured."
As she gave that warning, she glanced back and saw Ariel and Mordica blending in with them.
’I hope this strategy... no. This strategy has to work out.’
As they approached the Class-A territory, Hazel saw only a few students standing on the walls as defenders.
They were few, but the combination made Hazel’s face harden.
Gaga, Yamada, Thyra, Mira, and one other guy she couldn’t recognize. However, his skinny looks couldn’t hide the oppressive aura he exuded.
"These are the defenders, huh?"
She whispered to herself, then immediately fuelled the morale of her team with a war cry.
The ten—no, nine students roared like warriors and charged bravely into battle.
Yamada smirked, seeing them coming. "Do they really think they can handle the five of us? Even—"
His face stiffened when he saw Kaiser, and then his eyes lit up.
"Ah! Yes! He’s here!"
Having heard of Kaiser’s insane fighting prowess, he was extremely excited to be able to face him today.
Without even waiting for the Class-E students to come over, he jumped off the wall and dashed straight at Kaiser while summoning his relics mid-run.
Hazel guessed his intentions and immediately summoned her relics too. An armor manifested on her body, and a battle-axe fell into her grip.
She pivoted and placed herself between him and Kaiser.
"I’ll hold him down. You go for your target."
Kaiser nodded, then suddenly disappeared.
Hazel didn’t have time to react to his strange movement because the excited Yamada was already upon her.
"Hora!"
Swinging his hammer, he was met with the force of Hazel’s heavy battle-axe.
BANG!
There was a huge explosion as the ground beneath their contact was violently ripped apart, and they were both forced back by several steps.
"Huh? Hazel? Where’s Kaiser?"
He hadn’t expected the person who blocked his attack to be Hazel, so he was flabbergasted.
Hazel calmly pointed to the wall where the other Class-E students were already climbing.
Kaiser was already at the top, seemingly chatting with Gaga in a relaxed manner.
"Awww, come on. I chose him first."
Yamada complained and was about to go back, but Hazel stopped him.
"Don’t turn your back to your enemy."
Clang!
The two faced off on the ground, while Kaiser stood opposite Gaga on the wall.
The gold-eyed student glanced at Mira, Tamara, and the other guy, then nodded faintly.
The three jumped off the walls immediately, catching the Class-E students off guard and sending them all back to the ground.
Kaiser suppressed the urge to facepalm at his classmates’ naivety.
"Oh well, this leaves the wall for me and you."
Shrugging, he summoned the Nullweave Carapace and the Deathstalkers.
Gaga smiled slowly, summoning silver gauntlets on his hands.
"Good. I won’t have to worry about the others too."
In the deeper parts of Class-A’s territory, the flagpole was inserted to the ground, guarded by only one student.
When Mordica and Ariel got there, they were surprised to find the leader of Class-A there, seemingly waiting for them.
Her violet eyes shone as she looked at them.
"Ah, you really came. I’ve been waiting so long to meet you, Ariel."
The silver-haired boy frowned, feeling a strange deja vu. Had he met her before? He wasn’t sure.
Then, Adela’s attention shifted to Mordica. "Hm. You’re really pretty. Almost like the cursed witch Medusa."
The purple-haired girl calmly summoned her daggers without a word.
In response, Adela grinned and activated her ability. Complex numbers flashed above the heads of the two students before her, fueling her with excitement.
"Let’s open the curtain!"
