Chapter 193: How many times?
Chapter 193: How many times?
Logan was forced to the ground, a low whimper escaping his throat.
Holding the daggers tightly, he twisted the blades, further increasing the silver-furred beast’s agony.
In a fit of rage, Logan forcefully rose to his feet, throwing Kaiser off his back.
Dark red blood poured from the wounds onto his fur, making him look even more like a savage beast.
Kaiser landed softly, barely making a sound.
His empty gaze followed Logan’s movements as the creature walked around him, his gaze predatory.
’Hmm... a beast at heart, aren’t you?’
Kaiser took a glance at the injury caused by Kiera’s blood spear. It had almost healed.
His eyes widened subtly, but he barely felt any surprise.
Lycanthropes were well-known for their insane healing abilities.
Logan healing from that minor wound was no surprise.
The lycanthrope dashed at him from behind, aiming to tackle him to the ground.
However, Kaiser was always a step ahead.
He took a step to the side, allowing the claws to miss him by a few inches.
Then, he grabbed the large, furred creature by the throat, placed another hand on his stomach, then flipped him over.
Bang!
Logan’s head slammed into the ground with so much force that anyone nearby would’ve pitied him.
His body followed after, falling to the ground with a dull thud.
There was no reaction from him for a few seconds, then his legs twitched.
He slowly rose from the ground, his muscles spasming under his fur.
His maw opened wide, displaying a set of deadly canines.
Under Kaiser’s watchful gaze, his size increased slightly, his muscles and veins becoming more visible beneath his fur.
’Oh? Even in this state... he’s using his ability?’
Kaiser was aware of Logan’s enhancement ability, so it came to him as no surprise.
Instead, he was more intrigued with the fact that the boy could even activate the ability while transformed.
’Hmm. Although colorless, it is still interesting.’
Logan’s claws dug into the ground, and he launched himself across the room.
There was a loud bang as the floor beneath him was ripped apart, and he slammed into Kaiser’s crossed arms heavily.
The two of them were knocked to the wall, Kaiser’s arms keeping the deadly claws away from his face.
The wall cracked behind him, but Kaiser was oddly unharmed.
’Freedom from weight.’
For a brief moment, Kaiser’s body... lightened.
Logan’s yellow eyes constricted as he felt the resistance vanish.
Then it came back—heavier.
Bang!
Logan was blasted backward, his claws tearing through the ground as he skidded away.
Kaiser casually dusted himself off, like he had just done something trivial. He bore no injuries, and even his armor wasn’t dented.
The vambraces of his armor only bore a few scratches, proving its resilience as a Tier V Awakened Relic.
He took another step forward, then froze.
["Shivæ... arrîv—##... ?()?!!! null
The voice of the Nullweave Carapace came sharply, slamming into his mind like an attack.
Kaiser’s expression twitched slightly, and he felt his vision blur.
’Damnation! I knew wearing this armor would be uncomfortable.’
His instincts tingled, and his eyes instantly refocused on Logan.
The hulking silver creature was right before him.
Bang!
A clawed swipe struck his chest unprepared, almost knocking the air out of his lungs.
Kaiser was sent flying across the room, crashing into a weight bar and shattering it to pieces.
His lungs burned, and his chest ached, but he only gave a dry grunt.
Rising to his feet, he was met with Logan’s open jaws reaching for his head.
’That’s rude.’
A swift punch from below snapped the jaw shut and made the lycanthrope’s head jerk upward.
Before he could recover, Kaiser drew his right leg back, then slammed it into the creature’s exposed torso.
Crack!
The force was insane, as Logan was sent flying, bouncing on the ground several times until he came to a stop.
When he rose with shaky legs, blood poured from his maw.
There was a pained grimace on his wolf-like face.
Kaiser placed his leg on the ground, his expression calm. He took out his phone, checking the time.
’It’s almost 12 midnight. Will there be any significant changes?’
He was curious.
Putting the phone away, he locked eyes with Logan, taking leisurely steps towards him.
To his surprise, the hulking creature backed away, displaying caution and wariness.
"Oh? You finally understand caution. However, you still haven’t regained your senses."
Sighing, Kaiser folded his hands behind his back.
"I am only supposed to hold you here until your transformation is cancelled. I’m sure we can sit and chat until that is done."
There was a flat, neutral smile on his face.
Logan growled, still glaring at him cautiously.
However, seeing him stand still and not approaching, he turned his yellow eyes to Kiera’s injured figure.
If he couldn’t defeat this one, then he could at least consume the other one.
Kaiser read his intentions instantly.
"Ah... I’d advise you not to do that."
Logan didn’t listen. He turned and dashed towards the barely conscious girl, aiming to bite her head off as swiftly as possible.
Before he could even come close, he slammed into a wall made of solid darkness, making him reel.
The next instant, Kaiser’s boots dug into his ribcage, cracking a few more bones and sending him skidding across the floor.
Before he could stabilize himself, Kaiser fell from above, his heel smashing into the back of Logan’s head.
The lycanthrope’s head was slammed to the ground with a force that made some broken equipment bounce.
Blood pooled instantly, and a few canines were snapped in half.
Kaiser stepped back, observing his pathetic state with an empty gaze.
There was no sympathy for the boy. No excitement at crushing him. No feigned indifference towards his plight.
There was only the determination to complete a task—contain Logan until his transformation reverses.
A few minutes passed before there was movement from the creature.
His claws scraped against the ground, and he pushed himself to his feet.
His maw was a bloody mess. Yet, he still growled, baring his jagged and broken canines.
Seeing this, Kaiser tilted his head. "How many times? How many times more can you rise?"
All that answered him was a low growl.
On his wrist beneath his armor, the wristwatch clicked faintly. An hour had passed.
It was midnight.
