Chapter 998 - 997 - Little Chaos
Chapter 998 - 997 - Little Chaos
Lind did not waste time once he recovered. He followed Tsunade to her office in the Ra Suite. He noticed the Regional Envoy was still staring daggers at him but no longer trying to fight him verbally.
The once ornate office was now more practical. A table with chairs surrounding it, maps, and the locus of the formation that shifted the inn out of phase with normal space were all there.
Lind analyzed the formation but it defied him. Annabelle would likely understand it but he would need far more context for the complex arrays he was looking at.
Still, he grasped one part of it.
"I see, you originally preserved the condition of the area before building began." Tsunade's silver eyes widened before nodding.
"It is a safety measure we gained from an old trade. I am not surprised a dragon can grasp that much of the formation. It comes from your race." He looked more interested at the formation but he still could not piece it all together.
"I am a dragon soul so I do not have access to race memories. I am a new bloodline." She nodded in understanding but he could tell his words had far more effect on her as she knew he was a True Lord.
"If you are done chatting, could we discuss how you breached our haven? If the formation has a weak spot, we need to know." Lind turned to the violet haired woman but held up his hand and an artifact appeared.
It glowed with emerald light as it was placed on the table but all could feel resonance with the man in front of them.
"I created the rings the girls wear. It was both a gift and a safety measure. So long as I am close enough, I can find them. Even shifted in space, I could locate them. After that, I tore through space." His hands grazed the air to his right and a small tear formed!
All 3 women stared at him in envy.
"Even if you can still tear through space, that does not explain how you got here. The formation should have stopped you." Lind cocked his head as he did not understand. He had to feel out where the rings were to be sure, yet he encountered no issue getting in.
He recalled how he felt after he focused on the rings the first time.
It had felt a lot easier than before. He then let his hand slice space several times to really focus on it and was the one stunned then.
"Time, I am cutting through time!" He was doing it instinctively, not intentionally. Only as he focused did he realize why Tsunade had said he could not get through.
The formation shifted the entire inn not just in space, but time as well!
"That is impossible! No one can cut through time like that! Not even a pure phoenix!" The Regional Envoy was not wrong. Feng had taught him a great deal and while a phoenix could control time to flow at different speeds or even stop, it could not just cut through it!
Lind focused even more on what he was doing and a feeling came over his crystal. It was the Celestial Qi! He could cut through time due to the Celestial Qi!
Could Celestials truly cut through time?! If so, could Fiends do that?
He felt horror gather in his mind as he grasped something critical. The Void of Heaven technique had always mystified him.
It was necessary for invading new mortal realms but after a time it was no longer needed. He assumed it was because the Fiends spread their Qi across the world. He also understood that was how the Heaven Realm lands started too.
Yet now, after that new revelation, could it be the Fiends sever some aspect of time? Time and space create all of reality even in the cultivation world. If one of those fundamental aspects were broken, could it make the Fiends invisible?
It also made sense why their advancement was locked!
He felt like he was close to understanding something critical about both Fiends and Celestials but his head suddenly felt like it split open. The skies rumbled in warning! He was prying into something above his realm!
He took a few breaths and looked up to find the 3 women backed off from him.
"What was that?!" The old Sect Master spoke but it was Tsunade who answered.
"He touched on a Sovereign Tier secret at least. It means he tried to pry above his realm!" All 3 were now looking at him differently. The Sect Master looked at him like he was a treasure to be taken, Tsunade looked at him in wonder, while the Regional Envoy looked like he was insane.
"Apologies, I grasped something important but it seems I am not ready as well as Heaven and Earth forbidding it. Let's start over and speak on our current affairs. I am Maester Taren Cord." He bowed low and the 3 nodded as there was no wisdom in prying on Heaven's secrets.
"I am Tsunade Jin. I am the owner of this Golden Vermillion Inn. I am also letting it known Maester Cord is under my protection." The last was directed to the Regional Envoy but the Sect Master also frowned.
"Well, you met me when you were here last but I suppose you should know I am the former sect master of the Eternal Blossom Sect. I am afraid the sect fragmented from within which probably explains why things have become so bad. I am once more reclaiming my name of Min. I have no family name." Lind actually had to school his face to calm at her words.
An 'Eternal' sect being fragmented was not a small thing! Let alone having it happen in a handful of years, the last time he was there they were very powerful!
In order for it to collapse, something egregious would have had to happen.
"I am the Regional Envoy of Silver County, Seras Ba. I was sent after reports of the broken Gate made its way to my office. I also heard about you but a Maester is not that uncommon." He felt like the last line was her trying to assert some kind of authority and the other 2 seemed to call her out on it.
"A Triple Law Maester can be counted on 1 hand, Seras. You could search the corners of the world and only find maybe 3 or 4 at any given time." Tsunade hammered it home and it put some perspective on Lind for himself.
He had not realized how rare he was but Delenn had made it sound like her empire had a few like him.
He made a note to ask pointed questions but then he recalled the devastated dragon clan he had just left. They were dead! How many experts were dead due to the long struggle with tainted Qi after over a million years?!
"Let us focus on more immediate issues. I know part of the story but the last 3 years are not known to me. Please catch me up." The 3 nodded but the next words shocked him cold.
"Things were actually turning around for us when word reached us that the Ogros Kingdom suffered its entire royal family being assassinated. Shortly after that, a large group arrived that the Eternal Flame Sect welcomed with open arms. The Shandor Syndicate." Lind had to calm his heart at those words.
What followed was the revelation that 5 Shard Tiers were in the group but they brought powerful artifacts that killed Immortals easily! The City Lord was executed before they knew of them.
Chaos spread as battle slaves began to attack openly! The Eternal Blossom Sect was revealed to have elders that were aligned with the Shandor Syndicate as well!
The coup broke the supreme power of the sect when Kun City needed it most! The next 2 years were various battles as people tried to leave but without the Gate, all it took was breaking the Law Bindings to trap the people inside the city!
Lind finally understood what the early days of the Corruption had been like. It was a microcosm compared to the real thing but the devastation in such a short time revealed the horrific truth of it.
"So now the Shandor Syndicate and the Eternal Flame Sect are claiming Ogros Kingdom with all of Kun City?" They nodded at his head but he then wanted to know what was going on with Midas Throne.
Seras looked uncomfortable at his question.
"Midas Throne is unable to stop them. Their counterparts are restraining them but they are also safe." Lind was confused at that statement entirely. How could Midas Throne be restricted in their own territory?!
Tsunade was the one that supplied the answer.
"It seems one of the branches made a deal with the Shandor Syndicate. They really are tenacious spiders but this time it is more like a compromise. The Midas Throne organization is left alone and Shandor can take actions so long as it falls under certain conditions." He had a sinking feeling he knew the conditions.
"If someone attacked one of their caravans and a power that promised to protect it failed to do so?" All 3 looked surprised at him but then glanced at the now guilty looking demonic girls.
Seras looked vindicated at him as it was now clear the source of all their woes really was him!
"How did you become a Crystal Tier and not know about that?!" Min was now angry at him but Tsunade knew. She knew the truth about him being a True Lord.
There was only 1 way that he could not know.
He was an ascender!
