Eternal Emerald Dragon

Chapter 955 - 954 - Light in the Darkness

Chapter 955 - 954 - Light in the Darkness

Lind felt hollowed out. Channeling his bloodline to resonate had not been so bad even after his Qi and Laws were exhausted. In fact, the resonance had helped him recover a bit!

The spirits of Heaven and Earth, however, protecting them from the Divine Fiend had pushed him well past all his limits.

Ironically, it was in that drained state that he finally grasped the final piece of what he had been looking for.

His sliver and shard were both 7 sided but Delenn's crystal looked nothing like the 4 to 6 sided dantians of Immortals he had witnessed before.

The sliver had been refined and Laws improved to the point it expanded into the shard but Delenn's crystal had looked like an anvil of all things!

She confirmed her sliver had been 4 sided like many were and her shard had matched it, but the Crystal Tier was a major step.

The reason being it was the final step before the Radiant and Sovereign Tiers that dealt with far more profound aspects of Laws and transformative steps for an Immortal.

She was not able to help him much with those future issues but he had slowly grasped that Laws and Qi was not enough. He had to decide what shape his crystal would take. It would fuse with his soul completely so that if his body died, his soul could endure.

The more well crafted the crystal became, the better his soul could endure.

He also learned his tribulation would be rather harsh already due to his unique nature. The lightning was not only a trial but the fuel to transform his shard! He had 18 elements and his harmony!

That alone would make for a tribulation on a scale Delenn had never conceived of. The 9 bolts he would face would be qualitatively increased with his comprehension of his Laws and Qi density.

Unlike previous tribulations, even Divine bloodlines had to face the lightning as they needed it. On top of all that, he had his progenitor tribulation to follow.

Just after he thought that was the worst of it, Delenn revealed a tidbit no one had bothered to tell him! His status as a True Lord came with a price. He would face a tribulation for that as well.

It was not like his progenitor trial of a lightning based dragon facing him, but as a True Lord he would have to face something about the current layer he was on.

She was unsure what shape it would take but it was better to know in advance than to be caught by surprise. His tribulations had been rather rough compared to other divine bloodline beasts but that was not the only problem.

He suspected the unique situation of the Celestial Fields could add to his woes. The Temple of Souls and Fire had no knowledge for him on the subject either. He found it odd that a human would know something the dragons did not after guarding Divine Inheritances for so long!

He suspected there was a True Lord that was closer to the humans and revealed the truth of the price of the title on their cultivation path.

Regardless, he had studied all of it and reached the very peak of the Shard Tier but could not take a step forward until he finally reached rock bottom after the 2 battles back to back.

His shard was dim on 6 sides but the harmony side was still happily glowing in his dantian.

"My harmony. It always comes back to you. I am making this too hard." He smirked before wincing. His body was riddled with internal injuries. The spirits had strained his body in every way possible to deflect that attack.

He was also suspicious. He had not called for them but at the time the ancestors of each bloodline had felt very close to them. The first generation and he had been a True Lord as well.

That combination likely gave a direct line for the spirits of Heaven and Earth to sense their enemy. He railed against the inhumane treatment Fiends used against all life but the spirits had essentially used him as a tool as well.

Were they any better? He was not sure but he put it at the back of his mind. He needed more data as the vast majority of his journey actually had nothing from them. People invoked them often but the actual encounters were so rare that some cultivators even wondered if they actually existed!

He laid on his bed as he wondered what was happening in Frey City. The northeast would be left to Rasker or other local powers. The Celestials up there would investigate the effects of his Art on the materials.

If he could actually convert Fiend natural treasures into Celestial ones, that would be a massive win.

At the moment, nothing had been found in any part of the Celestial Fields for them. They could only cultivate and gather their strength from their experiences alone.

It was a direct reflection of how Fiends grew. They consumed all life while Celestials experienced it.

His Art had been a result of his experiments as he grasped his new understanding of the relationship between all 3 elemental sets. He had wondered what would happen if he integrated them into a weaving and unleashed it like a wave.

It would invigorate areas with potential or perhaps restore what had been lost but against Fiends it transformed their Qi into Celestial Qi!

He wondered if he opened a new door or if it was a one time event but it would take far longer for anyone to find out.

He tried to reach out to Haro but the ring was silent. He suspected it but it seemed Haro had taken part of the burden to preserve his life.

"I am too weak." After what just happened in the 2 battles, anyone that heard his words would stare at him in shock.

"You are not weak, Papa, just unlucky." A boisterous voice came from his door as he smirked to see the bright smile of Tal. She had gray robes still but they looked far better than before. Her dark eyes sparkled as she carried a tray with what looked a great deal like soup and tea.

"Mother Qing said you cannot take elixirs or pills at the moment but Immortal tea and food should help so long as they are gentle." He rolled his eyes but could not argue. He was completely drained!

"I don't suppose I will get to know anything?" He expected to be kept in the dark but he noticed Tal freeze for a moment and frowned. "Who did we lose?"

Tal got moist eyes.

"You no doubt know how many emerald cloaks died. The first battle field is no mystery for you, but the ambush here was very bad. Delenn and the others got the defenses up quickly, but some attacks still got through." A tightness came to his chest.

He had checked and his children were alive! He was sure of it so who could have Tal crying?

"Lis and Little Fox were on the wall–" Emerald light blazed as Qi and Laws flew into him like a storm!

He refused! He refused to let them die! They were not soldiers and were competent cultivators but not part of his forces. They were not garden flowers at all but all he could see was the smiling face of the trio he met in the outlands so long ago.

Hope died for them to live!

Lind was in such a rush he did not notice the pressure building above the clan. He flew through the corridors as if his body had never been weak.

The healing hall was not far and he quickly blew the doors open. Crying and subdued Clan members and friends were shocked as he arrived.

He blew past but noted everything.

Maimed and crippled were the majority but a few dead bodies were there. He recognized the young men and women from the emerald cloaks despite the damage to their bodies.

He grew angry as the feeling of vile Fiend Qi was slightly in their bodies.

Before he could act on it, 2 bandaged and barely alive women came into sight. Little Fox was missing a leg and Lis was missing an eye and her hands!

Vile Fiend Qi was eating away at them but the resources had clearly been strained to the breaking point. How many innocents had died?!

[I REFUSE!]

His words shocked everyone in Frey City as the skies changed. There had been blackened clouds but now emerald ones replaced them!

Rain began to fall and wind entered all homes carrying it. The many injured or dying suddenly felt invigorated.

Inside the healing hall, Lind felt pain but his harmony answered his call. All the Fiend Qi was transformed and the damage done was healed.

As quickly as it had come, the clouds vanished and Lind collapsed.

The healers ran to check on him but only a few stood in shock as the previously maimed victims were restored! The elixirs and pills suddenly could work their miracles!

The Clan had heard stories and fought in many battles but only now did they truly believe. A light in the darkness. It was the phrase given to Lind Frey by many.

Only at that moment did they know why. He never stopped and never abandoned anyone if he could save them. The healers worked but those recently mourning or worried about the future of their loved ones knelt in awe.

Hope bloomed after the darkness of the Fiends and it was all due to Lind Frey!
