Chapter 948 - 947 - Settling Accounts
Chapter 948 - 947 - Settling Accounts
Lind felt strange to be back in the Celestial Fields. He had quickly been able to confirm only a century had passed outside but far longer had passed inside. He was unsure how that could reconcile as he had anchored his life to the Celestial Fields.
Yet, the flow of time had allowed him to progress massively for his cultivation inside the Inheritance. He wondered how that would work for future cultivators but it would be up to them to find out.
Being inside an Inheritance for centuries was not impossible. He seriously doubted his would go like that but a decade was more than possible.
He tore through space and arrived in his personal quarters. The wards and seals did not stop him at all. He smiled as he saw a few touches left by his wives and children for him to find on his return.
He picked up the trinkets and artifacts but they were simply gifts to show their love. He could even tell instantly who a few had come from as their traces were still on it.
He was about to sit at his desk and get updated when a new tear appeared in midair.
Delenn came through looking grim.
"Master, it is good to see you but it seems you were tasked with an issue while I was gone?" She nodded and tossed him a black metal cube. He was curious what it was but was shocked to see it was a high grade 7 item!
"Those are not cheap to use but they are convenient. I made more than enough in my time and they could be used as a last moment grace from a terrible disaster so I had one on me. They are often used to tame difficult beasts too." Lind's head snapped up at her words.
He had a strong suspicion who was inside.
"What are they called?" No living things could be stored even in Haro's ring, so he was curious what this black cube was.
"Several names depending on the area but the most common is Aether Cage. It only works on powerful aether beasts and has several requirements to activate that currently only I fulfill." He nodded as his Eyes and Touch felt the profound item.
Several questions he had come across in his studies were quickly filled in just by that observation alone!
"How long has she been in here?" Delenn smirked at his words.
"She is a very slow learner so I tried to educate her at first but in the last 30 years, I was forced to put her in there. She also is losing her personality as time passes as her anger increases. She may die soon." Lind slowly nodded and looked sad but there was little they could do.
Her human mind was being subsumed by the instincts of the white tiger. It could have easily happened to him if he had not had Ethry by his side. She helped him get a good grasp on his dragon instincts as they walked the path of life together.
"Is there anything we can do?" Delenn shrugged as it was far outside her expertise.
"Feng and Ethry both tried to help her but being a progenitor puts a wrinkle on it they cannot overcome. Also, she really does not want to let her grudge go." He sighed but nodded as he moved them to an open arena for Immortals.
They were not actively in use, so he used the entire space. All the defense were turned on and created a sealed space that even 10 peak Shard Tiers could not break! Lind, himself, could not use his 18 elements to break out either!
He put the cube back in her hands and she placed it in the very center of the sands of the arena. Both backed off as she simply put her first 2 fingers on her left hand to her lips to whistle!
The tune was quite pleasant but was laced with intent he could not quite grasp! His curiosity wanted to ask questions but the cube lit up with blue light as it opened completely into a flat piece!
A tiger roar came out as the tigress, looking rather haggard, exploded outward to the sky. She slammed right into the defenses and fell back hard to the sands.
Not a scratch could be seen on her skin but her once austere robes were shabby and falling apart after many battles.
Lind did not give her a chance to recover as he blurred across the space and transformed his right arm to slam her deeper into the sands. Her eyes were now wild and lacked all clarity as she tried to rip his scales off her.
[Are you still there? Is anyone there?] He projected his mind at her but he felt no response. All he could see and feel was instinct.
All his rage at her fell away until only pity remained. He wanted to kill her. He had wanted to end it but had to focus on his goals or it would never end. Now, he could settle all accounts but the woman that attacked them was already gone.
All that was left was an insane Shard Tier beast with not even sentience anymore. The conflict between the human mind and bestial instincts left nothing intelligent behind.
She should be able to hurt him but no longer seemed able to do so.
"It is unfair that you can do that so easily. She could still hurt me if I tried the same." Delenn's words reminded him to not delay but he wanted to try once more.
He had to at least try to see if anything was left of the woman that attacked them and brought the Silverthorn Fangs so far.
He focused on his aura as a True Lord and his pressure finally stilled her. Her instincts were telling her not to mess with the being holding her down!
[I am only going to ask one more time. Is anyone there? If you do not answer, you die here in ignorance.]
His message made her eyes bulge but she did not attack right away. It was so small that anyone else would miss it, but Lind was staring at her with all his gifts and saw it. A flicker of panic!
His words were understood! Only sentience could translate his words!
He focused on his harmony and let the emerald light cover his skin before extending to her. The raging instincts finally returned but they were trying to escape!
[So, the beast feels threatened by me?] Lind sneered as his emerald flames touched her silver one. The instant that happened the woman stilled as her face cleared. Her silvery laced hair and pale skin became far more human!
She slowly blinked open her eyes and looked confused before she recognized Lind!
"Release me! Fight fair and square to the death!" Lind did not even budge as he studied her. She had regained control but her body was no longer as powerful. He began to understand what had happened.
"Why?" His question confused her. She tried to use her strength but her body was exhausted. She had nothing left to give!
She was now sweating profusely and a look of anger was on her face.
"Filthy dragon. You betray the pride of your race! Fight me!" Lind squeezed which made her bones creak.
"Why?" He only asked that one word but she refused to answer. Now, she focused and stopped fighting.
"Just kill me then! End it! You have no honor, so do it!" Lind noticed less anger and more desperation in her voice. Finally, he understood.
"You want to die while you are still there, don't you?" His question caused her face to go very pale but she shook her head and tried to bite through his scales to no avail.
"Do you remember your name?" His questions were being ignored but he noticed ticks and other signs to confirm his guesses.
The tigress had lost herself and knew it. She could not stop her instincts from making her act and no one could stop her. The clan also never thought anything was wrong as her brutality increased.
She had been desperately looking for someone to kill her before she went out of control.
"Death is too easy for you. You are not getting off that easily." A black elixir appeared in his human hand and before she could react he had shoved it in her mouth.
The vial glowed and forced it down her throat with no waste at all. It was not something he used lightly but very few were ever made.
The shock on her face was followed by pain as her body tried to arc upwards but he held her down. The process was not long but it would feel like an eternity to her.
She was screaming and crying but he did not look away. After a short time, she weakly fell back but now no aura came off her at all!
Lind finally pulled his claws back as Delenn looked on in shock.
"What did you do?!" The woman was alive but no one could have detected she was a cultivator!
"She will face the consequences of her actions. She may yet die but not on her terms. The Elixir of Mortality does exactly as indicated. It strips away cultivation but maintains vitality. Her bloodline resisted but it lost." He had watched as all her meridians were sealed and her dantian separated entirely from the rest of the body.
He then summoned a dark emerald elixir that left even Delenn looking on in awe.
"What I can make, I can cure. She will face the full force of our laws of the land. No easy way out for her." Anyone that knew Lind, would know he was only showing pity and not mercy. He could pity losing the battle to the instincts but it did not excuse the fact she had attacked them.
He put the Elixir of the Heavens back into his black ring. It could restore the woman back to her peak condition but it would not be so easy. He had tested it and if ingested, the cultivator would have to endure a kind of tribulation.
It was a single round but the karma was attached to it. If the tigress faced it, he had no doubt she would die.
Either way, the account was settled between him and her. The rest was up to the current leader of the Frey Clan.
