Eternal Emerald Dragon

Chapter 930 - 929 - Dead Friends

Chapter 930 - 929 - Dead Friends

Lind tore across the sky. The world became points of light before he slowed down once more. A massive wave of thunder snapped behind him but he made sure to come out where no one lived.

The trees and grasslands were flattened but not permanently. He had not trusted himself to tear through space as the pristine white towers came into his sight. Even from the small mountain range where the Heavenly Maiden Sect was he could perceive other powers inside his range.

Divine Sword Sect, Hellfire Sect, various tribes of the Wilds but that was not all.

Wolf Goddess Yue was dead. Her corpse was directly in his vision which burned with rage. His roar made many jump but that was not the only reason.

Many dragons and hybrids he had befriended at his time in the Temple of Souls were dead as well!

The Sunfire Clan especially had suffered to Wen's ire. She had been in the main temple so had been safe as even those cloaks could not pierce a Divine Inheritance's defenses.

The sheer scale of the attack shook all the powers and those that had become complacent now paid the price the most. The Heavenly Maiden Sect, which used his detection artifacts liberally, had fared better but still had deaths!

He slowly descended next to the Wolf Goddess' corpse as several women in battle dress knelt towards him. He turned back into a human form but the thunderous look on his face kept all silent.

The blood and burnt fur showed she had not gone down easy.

"Why was she here?" His voice was so cold that many of the women shivered but a demoness slowly limped out from the entrance of the nearby wall.

Her leg was clearly mangled but she still moved!

Fiery burnt orange eyes in nearly black lavender skin calmed him down as he bowed low in respect. A teasing smile briefly crossed her face.

"You have grown a lot boy. If not for you, I would still only be a World Realm." Elder Yi was now a Sliver Tier Immortal but he could tell she could not progress anymore.

"Did they send you to stop me from going on a rampage?" A quick shake of her head before she nearly fell over. A sudden feeling of solid air engulfed her and she nodded in appreciation.

"Sorry to say, I am one of the few functional Immortals. We sacrificed a lot to find and kill those bastards. While few died thanks to that, we are now in pretty bad shape." His eyes narrowed before a wave of emerald flames washed over the entire sect!

His eyes narrowed before bolts of lighting fell from the sky and slammed into several spots.

"You will find 3 more spies unconscious now." Yi twitched her eyebrow but did not argue with his methods as she quickly spoke into a bracelet on her wrist.

"Goddess Yue recently had some of her pack want to train with humans and she recalled your stories about our sect. Same with the Divine Sword Sect and even the Hellfire Sect! You have been a boon to us even here." Lind felt his anger disperse a bit as Yi's teasing smile soothed him but a glance at his dead friend.

"How many, Elder Yi?" Her face became grim but did not try to ward them away as it was already common knowledge.

"They sent an Immortal squad to kill Valkyrie. She killed them all. It shattered her shard and she is just barely alive. Romana was with her but she actually died, then did not stay dead." Lind blinked.

That was new. The previous change was more of a reinvention than direct rebirth. She had not really been dead but apparently that was the final push she needed.

"How is she?" Yi frowned at his question as she was not sure how to answer.

"We would actually like you to take a look at her as she is alive and that is all we can figure out." He nodded before kneeling next to his dead friend.

"She saved a lot of lives in both Immortal and lower realms. She could have run after her pack was safe but she fought hard to save more. We owe her." Lind nodded and smiled. Yue had become very fond of humans thanks to Hope and Lis.

Lind was about to move when he saw Yi fidgeting. His eyes narrowed at that moment.

"What?" He felt a cold feeling in his soul.

"Lind. I need you to remain calm. I need you to understand that there are a lot of injured and our defenses are damaged. Promise me you grasp these facts." A dark feeling grew in his heart but he took a breath and nodded.

"Melody is dead." A flare of emerald scorched the stone beneath him but that was all. The Maidens blanched as the brief flare completely destroyed the stone slabs beneath his feet!

He put his hand on the giant wolf corpse and it vanished.

"Lead me to Valkyrie first. Then her." Yi nodded and appreciated that he produced a floating pillow for her to sit on that she could control. They proceeded into the main structure and he saw broken open buildings and neatly organized corpses or healing tents.

He freely dispersed elixir and pills for which all bowed to him.

He also sent a message back to his sect to send out any healers they could. Rasker had all their facilities there so their best work could only be done there but the Frey Clan had no such restriction.

He froze as he saw some women he recognized from his time in the Law Binding or in his previous visits to branches of the sect.

Some were friends and some were simply people he knew.

A few were even enemies politically but they were all one right then. Palpable relief washed through the sect as he passed.

They came to the main tower but it was cut in half! It was not a broken tooth and he wondered how many died in that battle aside from the participants.

A massive tent of golden color was set up but it was a somber one. There was no activity aside from a few guards that bowed as they passed them by.

Lind smelled the herbal scent of alchemy and elixirs both but he saw only a withered old woman laid up in a rather large bed. He could see signs she had healed from severe injuries but it could not heal her dantian.

With her shard destroyed, her soul was damaged beyond the ability to survive her body. An Immortal had to leave their body before it was about to be damaged or the body died a natural death.

Poison could be bad but also gave a chance for escape.

Valkyrie had been a voluptuous woman that was beauty and warrior of equal measure. Any fool that thought to pursue her would find what her weapons felt like as she had a sole focus. Protecting her sect.

"You came." Her voice was barely a whisper but he heard her. His Eyes saw the ravaged body and knew nothing could be done. She was going to die soon.

"I have already sent orders for my Clan to aid all we can. We are also bringing our analysis of the cloaks and their weaknesses. Weavers are an achilles heel for them." A grim smile crossed the wrinkled face. It was not in vain!

"We are not friends, but I have never had a better ally. Why your wives love you eludes me but your loyalty was clear to me too. Please, let me die with honor." Valkyrie did not want to waste away on the bed. She wanted to die by a weapon.

Lind knelt and looked at her.

"I am not so kind as to indulge you but I understand. Do you have any last requests?" Protean appeared in his hand and became a dagger. She smirked at him before turning to Yi.

"Romana will replace me. She will try to deny it but she is crafty. She also cares deeply about our sect and her friends. We need her to be the bridge. My instructions are in my ring." She weakly held up her hand which Yi took carefully.

Tears were in her eyes but that was all. Lind closed his eyes before his hand blurred.

Valkyrie's eyes went wide but a smile was on her lips.

"Thank yo…" The words went into silence as life left her body. A small pool of blood formed over her heart but was quickly seared shut. He closed her eyes and Yi said nothing.

"Sigh, stubborn until the end. Take me to Melody." Lind followed Yi back out but they did not go far as Melody was also part of the battle with Valkyrie. There were several dismembered corpses but hers was intact.

Her hair framed her pale face. It looked like she was just sleeping but he recognized what had been done. Her soul had been shattered! Sparks danced on his body for a moment before he calmed down.

He knelt next to her and seemed to say a prayer before standing back up.

Yi needed no prompting as they moved to another area farther away. It was actually a tavern that had been turned into a healing ward. Lind swept in and quickly assessed all the patients.

He distributed elixirs and pills without being asked which all the healers appreciated.

At the back was the stairs to the next floor that they took up to a room also guarded. He noted a few others but Yi opened the door to find a healer observing a woman Lind did not recognize.

She was previously bright pink hair, short, and damned young.

Now, she was silver haired, very tall, and robust but he could see her muscles were meant to be very agile.

He only took a glance to tell that the Laws of Time were in flux. It must have been a reflexive action to change once more. His fingers glowed and a profound feeling filled the room. Yi was in shock.

What had frustrated them, he resolved so quickly?! The woman's eyes fluttered before a brief glow of some kind of silvery energy made Yi pale. What was that?!

"Romana, time to wake up. We have a lot to discuss." Lind was no longer cold but Yi could feel it. Whoever had organized the attack was going to regret it. They were going to regret it a lot!
