Chapter 899 - 898 - Divine Will
Chapter 899 - 898 - Divine Will
Ilyria was shaken by the aura and presence washing over her. It was far more powerful than any being she had ever encountered. She had met peak Shard Tiers so she was confused how such a powerful being could still be in the lowest layer of the Celestial Fields.
His words pushed all her questions aside, however, and she basked in the aura of her mother.
She could become like her? She could get closer to her in that way! She missed her so much and was more grateful as time passed that her Uncle allowed her to spend real time with her.
The thought of Lind made her confused. Where was her Uncle?
She went to try and look for him but then pressure came on her.
[Child? Can you hear me?]
"I am sorry Senior!" She quickly stood up and bowed to the mountain. She could recognize it was one of her kind but how were they a mountain?
[It is fine. It is a lot to take in. This area is special to our race as it is where a Divine Inheritance once resided.] She felt amazed and it explained why the area was so strange.
It was a Ruin or Relic, but then what was speaking to her? A spirit would not feel so powerful. Even her–she suddenly could not think of a word.
She felt confused but then the voice returned.
[Even though the Inheritance has collapsed, I am able to endure and teach the pure bloodline to continue to guard what remains.] Ilyria felt pride swell in her to know her lineage had such a grand purpose.
Her mother had done it and then been injured before losing her cultivation.
The thought jarred her as she recalled the vicious damage to her mother's shell. Her mind began to clear as she felt something wrong.
"Where is–" She was about to speak when a warm feeling washed over her from the aura around her.
[Dau–ghter.] A voice she had not heard in so long very faintly echoed in her mind. Tears welled from her eyes as she fell to the cold ground and tried to pull the aura in around her.
"Mom! I am here mom!" She was screaming it and all other thoughts left her mind.
[Child, the aura is about to vanish. If you wish to accept the mantle, you must choose soon.]
Ilyria did not even have to think anymore. She wanted it! She wanted the aura to be a part of her.
She wanted it so badly that she was about to say yes when something welled up inside her. It was coming from her race memory!
For an instant, a gigantic tortoise shape appeared around her and Ilyria snapped out of the trance she had been in. She suddenly felt something trying to pierce her dantian and soul at the same time!
The ground began to shake and she was shocked to discover she could not fly!
[Damned Divine Guardian! Even in death, you defy me!]
The voice was no longer kind but it was till familiar to her as another of her race. What was going on?
[Neither of you shall leave here! You shall fuel my growth!] Ilyria tried to summon an artifact to help her but her ring was not working. Nothing she did worked!
What was this thing?!
"ROOOOAAAAAARRRRRR!!" A shocking roar shook everything as the sound of glass breaking was heard followed by the mountain cracking right in front of her.
Lind fell out of the sky with blood trailing from all his orifices visibly. The ship they had arrived in was where the shattering sound came from.
A resounding thud occurred when Lind impacted into the ground but he slowly got up.
Rage came off him in waves but he seemed to be suffering as much as she was.
[You dare?! A snake should know their place!] The voice boomed and she felt Qi being ripped from her body as the Laws started to be pulled as well. Blood shot out of her as her body was heavily damaged trying to resist it.
[You are a lie! A Divine Realm would not need to mimic those monsters!] Lind's voice shot through her mind but the response seemed to break him too.
[You ants know nothing! You should be happy to be part of me!] Ilyria could not believe it. She understood the crystalline mountains were like a body but she knew the being was trying to rebuild a compatible form for itself!
A soul that wanted to become corporeal again, it would have to be at the Immortal Realm and find a body it could use. It was extremely difficult but how much harder would it be for a Divine Realm?
Why were the powerful so easily led down the path of tricking the generations that followed?
A sudden question came to her but Lind beat her to it.
[What happened to the Divine Guardian?] The rumbling stopped at first but then the ground shook as the surfaces began to glow.
[She defied my will. She broke with me and started a family. I do not allow my tools to defy me.] Ilyria felt rage but could do nothing with it. She was stuck and dying.
She regretted forcing Uncle to bring her and facing an old monster that was like a cancer that used its descendents like artifacts to help them cultivate.
She understood now that the race memory had freed her. The Divine Will had endured long after it should have by slowly converting all the Qi and Laws into a compatible material. It could eventually reform a new body given time but then the Cataclysm came.
Her mother had hidden her pregnancy until the last moment and tried to escape when the world began to come to an end. The Divine Will had revealed a power none knew it had and attacked her!
It was a restricted memory due to the nature of the Divine Will. It knew there was a chance the child of his last tool could ascend and thus locked it away. Only now, at the end, was she able to understand all that happened.
The Divine Realm beast has been looking not for an heir, but a new host! He had lived for almost a trillion years but even then, it refused to accept being just a Divine Will.
He simply lived to indulge life for his own interest. It was not the same as the cannibalistic Inheritances she had learned of before. The Divine Will did not hide it at all! It was an accepted practice for Divine Realms to set up such trials to find a body if they lost their original one!
It made her sick that she was related to such a being!
Why was it allowed at all?! How could anyone that knew of the Fiends allow such a practice?!
[Stupid brat! It is an honor to host me! I will return to the life I deserve and leave this pathetic world!] The thing was able to read her mind but she was unable to sit upright until all the pressure suddenly vanished.
Ilyria slowly felt her Laws and Qi start to return but why? Neither she nor her Uncle could do anything against a Divine being.
They were akin to Gods unless restricted by things like the Inheritance of the dragons.
She slowly regained her senses but all her instincts were screaming at her to run for a very different reason.
A bloodied and glowing Lind came into her vision as the ghost of his dragon form floated over him staring at the mountain that was now very silent.
It was not what drew her eyes but the terrifying black clouds gathering above them. She knew those clouds as any Immortal would.
It was the tribulation clouds for the next tier! Her Uncle was going to breakthrough here?!
She realized her death was still going to happen but now it did not bother her. It was only then that she felt the fear in her bloodline. The Divine Will was afraid!
[I have grown very tired of finding you bastards. I have grown tired of realizing I have become complacent and making my cultivation complicated when it is very simple.] The rage filled voice went through her mind but it was no longer strained as he stood in defiance of the Divine Will that tried to consume them.
Ilyria felt pride in her heart as Lind seemed to become more real in that moment as she felt a change in the skies. The tribulation, normally a threat to any cultivator, shifted its focus to the mountain!
[I am more important than this thing! You cannot judge me! I am beyond your power–] Lind smiled at the Divine Will's words before he extended his hand out and put his thumb up with his index finger pointed at the mountain.
[Bang!] Lightning blasted out on command! It was massive blue white bolts that numbered 9 as the first round slammed right into it! The material they could not hurt at all was ripped open as a scream ripped through her mind.
Ilyria was not sure how death would come but she preferred the tribulation lightning to having her mind ripped apart.
[You are not part of my niece's bloodline anymore! Going forward, she is of mine!] The feeling of lightning building over her washed over her but instead of terror, she felt joy.
A shaft of light slammed into her as her body began to glow with vitality! Her bloodline was being blended as the Heavens celebrated! Was this how all her Uncle's tribulations were?
When the shaft of emerald light faded, Ilyria was whole again! She was intact and felt like her power had increased exponentially.
[Run from this place! The normal tribulation is going to continue and it will get nasty after that! Go!] Unlike ever before, she felt compelled to obey Uncle. His bloodline was now superior to hers!
He was on the same level as her mother! She shot to the sky like a rocket and kept going as the black clouds were growing in power and width! It was massive, more massive than any she had ever seen!
She could not chance looking back and simply pushed her speed far beyond her best and prayed all would go well for her Uncle.
