Eternal Emerald Dragon

Chapter 891 - 890 - Fire Lord

Chapter 891 - 890 - Fire Lord

[Master, there is no covenant to you that I know of. The title of True Lord Candidate is often shortened to simply True Lord for outsiders to make things easier but it is not a big deal to be treated as complete.] Haro sent him some information but Lind believed he had a better grasp of what happened.

Lind had faced 2 of the Inheritances and passed. That was fine. He could not easily get to the last Inheritance easily but he could get to it eventually. Instead, he had chosen to confront the threat to the realm.

He highly suspected that was fine but could still have been seen as a slight.

What likely set off the soul inside the Inheritance was that he was already complete and had spent the last 1000 years living a relative life of peace.

In other words, he was coming when it was convenient to face the trial not rushing as if it was the most important thing as he should have.

In all honesty, the spirit was not entirely wrong. Lind was already a True Lord without question as he had just demonstrated firmly.

The reason he was here was to honor the ancestors and to officially complete his training. The fact it was just for form's sake could be the way many saw it but he did not.

Special circumstances allowed him to become a True Lord, but he of all people knew a firm foundation was the key to survival. He had struggled on every aspect of his cultivation even when it became easier in the Heaven Realm.

He still found issues as well as learning the trick to 6 primary elements no one had ever faced before. He did not rush things and always tested every aspect of his cultivation before advancing.

He treated being a True Lord no differently. He had strange abilities and had to master them. He had contact with an entire race at his whim and a level of intimidation he had trouble controlling at first.

The list went on, but he did not want to rush to complete the trials in case there were any issues. A fellow cultivator should understand that, but the more one advanced, the more the struggle could seem easy in memory.

The powerful forget what it was to be weak.

Lind was kept grounded not only by his family but his experiences that showed despite becoming a powerful being, there was always someone stronger. His current goal was so far above him in strength as to be terrifying.

The mountain was pristinely carved with structures that seemed to grow out of it. The feeling of being inside a Divine Inheritance was different from the Temple of Souls. The Temple of Souls had felt like a Ruin almost but there had been no distortion separating it from the world.

On the mountain, Lind could tell it was deeper inside. The pressure was there but only after crossing the wall did he really zero in on its source. He could also feel the displeasure which told him it was a physical Inheritance and not one strictly done by the soul.

Many dragons with massive bodies or humans with similar well muscled frames were everywhere but all bowed to them as they passed.'

It was a 180 degree turn from previously but Lind just ignored them and moved up the path as it got steeper. The volcano was huge and at the base was quite cool. The smoke smoldered above but the heat was clear to his senses.

Ilyria was looking at him in concern but he just smiled at her.

"Don't worry, I will be fine." She smiled at his words and they resumed the journey. As they ascended the buildings became more ornate and larger.

Towers actually began to become more common but the size scale was far off from a human. It was meant for dragons! Neither could recall seeing such huge structures before but that was not the only oddity.

On their arrival, the volcano only seemed to be a 3 to 4 days journey of foot to ascend at most. Big definitely, but they did not seem to get that far from the ground at all when that time had long since passed!

Lind did not seem bothered as he sneered and waved his hand. Emerald light flared on his fingertips before the air parted in front of them. Space had been torn open at his whim.

"I have indulged you enough yet you continue to push my patience." Rather than enter he spoke and the dimensions around them seemed to warp until the peak zoomed in at them!

The heat spiked as crimson red light came from all around them. Massive doors now loomed over them with lava actively flowing down both sides of them. The door was engraved with the head of a dragon blowing fire from the lower left corner up to the upper right one.

There were no handles and Ilyria was stunned at how much more real the doors felt compared to anything else in the world she had ever seen.

"From this point on, I can only go alone. This is a good place to study Fire Laws and others associated with it. See if it can help broaden your foundation until I return." Originally, he had been going to let her stay with the priests and others but after what happened he was no longer inclined to be polite.

She nodded and chose to revert to her original body which would normally be weak to fire but Lind had trained her well to balance her elemental resistances over the centuries. A weakness can become a strength when an enemy expects an attack to work only for it to have no effect at all.

Still, it did not help her overcome her grasp of the Laws as an Immortal. A place like this was rare to enjoy such an environment.

She settled in as she began to study the Laws around her and Lind marched up to the door.

As expected, it did not open or respond in any way. He sighed before making a fist and slamming it into the very center of the door.

It lit up but where most would simply hurt their hand, the defenses broke! Rage spiked from within but there was nothing they could do.

The doors swung inward and he walked through a barrier of light. The world fell away for one of fire. He had often heard people describe what it would be like on the sun if you could stand there but he felt that all words failed what he saw in front of him now.

Spouts of endless flame were all around him with solid streams of plasma arcing into the sky only to crash back down. The heat was beyond anything he had ever experienced and the surface was liquid but would destroy any moisture in his body if he allowed.

A volcano was a high school science experiment compared to where he stood then. His harmony and Laws flowed in his mind and body. He protected himself by grasping the Laws of Thermal Dispersal and Absorption.

His body was still feeling hot but he could withstand it.

He saw nothing else but it was as if he instinctively knew the world. He reached out with his aura and changed the world to obey his commands.

The plasma flow around him parted slowly to reveal steps golden in color but due to heat, not the material it was made from.

It went down inside the world until a massive structure was revealed. It actually seemed a part of the plasma but rigid at the same time. He had never seen anything like it but only paused long enough to ensure his control was steady.

He descended the steps and felt his skin start to melt off his feet. Even with all his control, the sheer power around him exceeded any Immortal comprehension to grasp safety.

Lind finally had enough as he felt push back from the same source as before.

If that was how they wanted it, he would change the rules!

Celestial Qi flew from his body and the world of heat became ice! The flow stopped solid as he directly manipulated the very matter around him. It drained his Qi like nothing else but the effect was dramatic!

The resistance stopped instantly and he easily made it to the 6 story structure.

It was like a palace but the once vibrant flow of plasma was now turned to frozen stone.

[HOW DARE YOU?!] A male voice boomed as the arched entrance cracked from a physical vibration. A dragon with deep crimson scales that shimmered like fire appeared. The resemblance was too close for him not to notice.

"The Sunfire Clan are good friends of mine. Is there something about that interaction you found upsetting enough to do all this?" Lind did not bow or even give an honorific. He skipped straight to confrontation.

[Don't make me seem like part of those weaklings! I am from the True Fire Clan. No dragon can overcome our flames! I am the Fire Lord and you will bow to me or leave!] The dragon sneered as he continued to emerge.

Lind saw 2 horns flowing back from his head with flickering eyes far different from the Sunfire Clan. The mane was a deep black going down the entire backside until the tip of the tail. There were 4 massive wings which Lind found laughable as a design.

He flew with none just fine while 2 winged dragons were quite sufficient from what he had seen. The 4 wings seemed like they would get in the way of each other.

The 6 massive limbs were more impressive to him but still very short compared to most dragons with limbs he had met.

The final insult was while the dragon was large, it was tiny compared to any dragon he had just passed on his way up!

"If that is as big as you get, I could see why you suffer from issues." Somewhere, Shoti was cheering him on. Lind got his desired result as the dragon lost all sense of decorum to attack him.

The very instant the crimson flames shot out, he felt their power. Compared to the rest of him, his flames were the real deal. They could melt anything into atoms!

Still, Lind finally transformed and smashed outward with his own flames. He imbued all he was into them.

The result was a stunning reversal! Emerald flames shattered crimson like glass! Lind knew he could defeat the Divine Realm spirit for 2 reasons.

The biggest was he was already a True Lord. Anyone that acted against him and was acknowledged by Heaven to be in violation of their appointment, would give him the edge right away in the same race.

The other reason was he was more than just a normal dragon. He harnessed all the power of 18 elements into his flames with his harmony to boot! A Divine Dragon had power but in a direct comparison, they were all inferior to his flames!

[Impossible!] Lind rolled his eyes as the Fire Lord still did not give in, but he was quite done with dealing with an immature child of a Divine cultivator.

"Your limited grasp of reality is not my concern. Take this seriously or I will have you removed from your post." The moment he finished talking the air shifted. The Fire Lord actually felt the scythe blade at his neck!

The 2 stubborn dragons looked at each other as fire and ice battled it out around them.
