Chapter 890 - 889 - Disrespect
Chapter 890 - 889 - Disrespect
The 4 dragons finally gave up after a short attempt to break free. None of them could make Lind's conjured arms even flinch which should have been drastically weaker than his physical limbs.
It spoke volumes for how powerful Lind was and at least half the group looked regretful.
Ilyria noticed a few derisive glances at her before a flex of the emerald limb holding them made them look away.
She had actually been greeted with deep respect at the Temple of Souls. Why was the Temple of Fire going out of their way to antagonize them?
Lind seemed to start cultivating without losing control of his limbs. She joined him and the day began to slowly pass.
While it looked like he was just cultivating, Lind was trying to gather intelligence.
[Seniors, do you know why a True Lord, candidate or otherwise, would be greeted this way?] No dragon had stopped him on the way but neither had they reacted subserviently.
He actually preferred that but now he understood it was them not even acknowledging him at all.
[Dragons are prideful but harmonious. They acknowledge their own kind but strength must be proven always.] The answer confused him even more.
He had literally faced death at the heart of the Realm Refiner. All dragons had been called to save his life, all of them certainly included the ones here!
He had not done it, it had been a voluntary act, so why were they so aggressively angry at him?
The sun had almost set when a man finally began to walk towards them from somewhere to the east of them. He wore simple robes with a flame design in darker colors.
The flame grew darker towards the bottom until it was almost black but at the shoulders it was a pale off white. As the man moved, the flame seemed to flicker as it would in real life. It was not a formation, just incredible design.
The 4 that had been soundly defeated no regained some of their spark but the man went right past them only to pause at the emerald arms.
He examined them with some interest before nodding and moving in front of Lind and Ilyria. He was about to address Lind when he froze and stared at Ilyria.
Before anyone could react, a surge of rage washed over the area. It hit the 4 restrained dragons hard and they began to whine.
"You dared to disrespect a Divine Black Shelled Tortoise?! Are you courting death?" A gruff male voice thundered into the air and all 4 pairs of dragon eyes went wide staring at Ilyria.
"W-we–" The original first attacker tried to speak but then his face was slapped by the man in the flame robes. If not for Lind holding his body down, it was clear he would have gone flying.
The pair were more stunned by the man's reaction than anything else thus far. A sudden sensation came from the trees and the man paused to tilt his head before sighing.
"As you wish, Grand Elders. I leave the punishment or forgiveness in her hands." He bowed low to the trees and then returned to stand before the pair. He bowed very low to Ilyria.
"Daughter of the Divine Guardian, it is my honor as 5th Flame to welcome you to our humble Temple of Fire. All courtesy will be extended to you for as long as you wish to stay here." Lind finally almost lost control of his conjurings but the 4 were no less shocked it seemed as they did not even register the loosening of their bindings!
"How do you know my mother?" Ilyria leapt to her feet and the hood was finally pulled back the man to reveal a heavily wrinkled man. His hair was vibrant orange like his eyes but the feeling of power was clear to Lind at the peak of the Shard Tier.
"I had the great fortune to be saved by her when I saved a clutch of young dragons from the terrible hunts that threatened us all over 1.5 million years ago. She was already a legend to me. I would never forget her aura that you now carry." A smile flitted over Ilyria's face as she always enjoyed any tidbit about her mother, but then she became stern.
"May I know why you mistreat my Uncle so?" Now the old man was the one surprised as he quickly snapped his head to the still seated Lind. Confusion was clear but it was not like Lind's life story in full was spread around.
"I was there when Ilyria was born and Divine Guardian died. I also pushed my weaving ability to allow mother and daughter to have a goodbye as her injuries took her into a coma at the end." He did not see the need for too much detail but he wanted the relationship clear.
A rather conflicted look now came over the old man's face.
"This is–complicated. Lord Frey, you are indeed entitled to defend yourself and your actions are well within the limit. I am appreciative of your mercy against the young as they are a bit hot-headed. However, you will find no respect here." There was an almost apologetic look in the old man's eyes.
"Haro." Lind spoke a name and a dark skinned man in tan robes instantly appeared and looked stern.
"The Temple of Fire may have its rules, but the Heavens chose. Your True Lord is before you with full access to a Divine Ring. He died for the entire Celestial Realm and all Immortal Dragons chose to save him of their own volition. Pray tell me 5th Flame, why no respect is allotted to the man that allows all of us to be alive?" The instant Haro appeared the monk dropped to his knees and bowed.
Just like at the Temple of Souls, Haro had far more authority than Lind did.
"Lord Spirit, it is not a matter of ignoring what he has done. It is our own Divine Lord's edict. The True Lord has been disinherited due to breaking the covenant." Confusion now was on all 3 of their faces. If even Haro did not know, then what was going on.
Lind had had enough.
"Fine, if that is how this will be sped up. Let's ask our bosses." Lind finally stood up and released the 4 dragons but all felt pressure slam into them from above. The sky, once clear and sunny, became clouded in an instant.
A pressure of the Wrath of Heaven came down onto all, even the walled off area crack and revealed how heavy the pressure varied from person to person.
Only the forest, Lind, Ilyria, and Haro remained unaffected.
"L-lord Frey. Please restrain your anger–" The old man tried to speak but the pressure did not give him breath.
Lind felt pity but he had quite enough of petty games. He had come because he honored the dragons and all they had done for him. He also took on the responsibility seriously and faced death for all the realm without a request to help him as he could have.
He had done it all and now when he finally came to complete the trials, he was told he was not worthy?
"Lord Skinwalker was a strange man but I understand Divine Realm cultivators live very differently from us. I also was shown harshly how little I grasped what being an Immortal was all about, but I survived that trial as well. My impression of Divine Realm cultivators has been rather good so I find it disheartening that a dragon one of all beings would be so petty and small minded." Lind not only spoke but projected his words to every dragon in the realm.
It had the desired result.
A wave of pressure flexed from the very heart of the volcano, yet Lind simply waved it off.
The instant that happened, the pressure lifted from all the other dragons yet the 5 in front of him were frozen in shock.
A Sliver Tier Immortal had just brushed off Divine Will like it was water on their skin!
Only 1 being could do that in such a situation and it was a True Lord! A complete True Lord!
"B-but the Divine Lord said you broke the covenant?!" The old man was now truly confused and Haro took that moment to strike.
"A True Lord trial is allowed but is not the final judge. The spirits of Heaven and Earth have always approved of the True Lords. Personally, I believe they knew Master Frey would sacrifice his life to save us all and did not want him to die. A True Lord candidate could not be saved, but a complete True Lord could be." Lind whipped his head around at that statement.
Not once had Haro spoken of such a theory. His surprise was not missed by the audience but then a new voice entered all their minds.
[Young Bal, though not of our race, we sense the aura of True Lord from this one. Further, he is a Divine Progenitor and dragon soul. All this we can see from our contact. The Divine Lord is being petty as he said. It is unwise to betray the spirits.]
The forest had spoken to them and the 4 Star Tiers now knelt low in obedience.
It seemed the forest held great sway with the Temple of Fire.
The clouds above rumbled as if to affirm their opinion on the matter too!
"This matter is between me and the Divine Inheritance. I believe that matter is now clear?" Lind spoke and the old man Bal flinched but slowly nodded. He looked lost.
That nod was all Lind needed before Qi began to fly around him like a storm. It was all the Qi he had at his command as the wall suddenly was transformed like it was clay!
A massive gate was simply created like it was as easy as breathing! The profound feeling of the wall did not seem to impede Lind at all!
Any doubts about his authority was removed not just from the 5 but all the dragons looking at them via their auras.
He then had Haro hop back into the ring while the pair walked past the dragons into the compound. Not a single being stopped them.
