Chapter 877 - 876 - Fealty of Dragons
Chapter 877 - 876 - Fealty of Dragons
Many horrible things happened a million years ago in the Celestial Fields. The upper layers lost all contact with the lower ones. No one knew what was happening as all communication jade stones between layers went dark.
Some layers knew more than others but over all, a bleak feeling of death loomed over all at the kind of power that could cut them off. As time passed, many moved on or lived as they could depending on their situation.
Then, something changed.
Dragons on all layers felt a stir in their souls. Something long missing was finally found! The young did not understand but the most ancient elders rejoiced!
A True Lord!
It was the True Lord of the dragons!
Hope blossomed in their race and infected their allies for a few short decades.
It was then something else changed that left all shocked.
The entire Celestial Fields began to shake and tumble! Laws went wild as if some great upheaval was going to happen again!
The once isolated lowest layer seemed to be the source but no one could confirm it as they could not reach it!
Nothing was found in their own layers so they could only hope it was a good change and not a bad one.
As time passed and the waves of Qi continued, many became concerned it was actually the end, but the dragons felt pain. Pain unlike anything they had ever encountered.
Their souls were crying out in sorrow!
The disturbance escalated suddenly as earthquakes descended on them all!
The Heavens began to storm in rage but it seemed like it had nowhere to go until it all focused where the old ascension pools used to be.
Just what was going on down there?!
No power could figure it out and no seer or other cultivator could pierce the fog imposed on them a million years ago.
The layers then were filled with a roar of a dragon. It reached all corners and even non-dragons felt it.
[Live damn it, I command you all to live!]
The words touched them all in an unfamiliar voice. Immortals could tell it was a junior but they felt compelled to fight harder and hope bloomed in their hearts where a lethargy had long taken hold.
Ancient masters emerged and felt they had been silent enough.
The voice had a power none could deny but all the dragons knew. It was the command of their True Lord!
He was dying!
He was at the heart of whatever was going on!
They took to the skies and roared in acceptance of his command!
Entire empires trembled as suddenly every dragon clan came out of the woodwork to roar.
The shaking finally slowed and calmed down.
None knew what it meant but just as everything seemed safe once more, a new roar shook the Heavens.
It was like all understood a dying beast was giving a final challenge to its enemy. The dragons felt it clearly.
The True Lord was almost dead. He was spitting in the eye of his enemy! He had won! The most ancient Sovereign Tier dragons grasped who the enemy was. They had very long lives and knew the ancient stories.
They knew the True Lord had saved them. They could feel it in the very air and the divine bloodlines felt Heaven's gratitude!
Their race was blessed by Heaven once more!
It had been a long time since such a thing happened but they did not waste it!
[All our brethren. Our True Lord gave his life to save us, we owe our fealty to him!] The word went out.
Clans that had bitter feuds ceased fighting. Dragons that had been about to consume their foes stopped. Dragons that had been about to go to sleep for a long time snapped awake.
All dragons at all layers looked down or towards the feeling in their souls.
They were all connected again after so long apart!
Their race memory demanded they return such an act in kind!
The layers were still locked and none could cross but a True Lord was a part of their entire race per Heaven's Decree.
A True Lord could command and master their entire race if so desired. None could resist but that was not all there was to it.
A True Lord that gave all of themselves would not be allowed to face hardship alone. It was not karma nor forced. Honor flowed in their bones and Heaven told them the True Lord was in their hands!
Energy flowed like a torrent down pathways only dragons could feel. It shot towards a single point and nothing could stop it!
At the bottom of a crater where massive trees now stood, a broken and bloody mess lay at the heart of it. The roots had gently caught the body as it struggled to keep breathing.
Qi danced around it but nothing could be done. Heaven and Earth were fair but the disruption to their Laws meant nothing was known. The truth was hidden so it took no action, even for one of its favored children.
There was no need, afterall.
Energy thundered down as the roars of many dragons filled the air. It slammed into the broken body!
Emerald scaled lush with life snapped back into place as a massive dragon took shape! It had 3 horns on its head and 4 massive limbs with powerful claws that were so fine!
Its tail had a main of emerald hair that could cut any metal with a thought as its 2 emerald eyes snapped open.
Emerald flames shot skyward as a roar of life filled the air!
Lind Frey was alive! He did not understand how but he also realized he was at the peak of the Sliver Tier! His foundation was rock solid and his body was stronger than ever!
"HA HA HA HA HA!" His voice suddenly filled the air as tears fell from his eyes. He was back in his human form as naked as the day he was born. His robes had been destroyed and he had no replacements.
He had nothing as he stood in the middle of the massive trees and laughed as he felt the thundering of his own heart and the warmth of his flesh.
"Thank you. However this was done, thank you." He was not sure who he was thanking but he damn well would thank them!
He was alive!
He took to the air and emerged into glorious sunlight! White clouds filled the blue skies as green was as far as his eyes could see! Life, unbounded life was in all directions!
He laughed once more as he took it all in and saw the broken metal shards all around him in the crater. He frowned at those but did not worry about it. There was nothing he could do in his current state anyway!
He then checked his soul and was stunned to see it was pristine! There were no sigils at all! How was that possible?!
[Unless you enjoy being naked, Master, are you ready to be picked up?] A voice suddenly filled his mind and he looked into the horizon to see a massive vessel speeding to him! He could feel the dragons on board weeping with joy but that was not all!
The pressure was gone! He was as light as a feather!
Giddiness almost took him as he waved at the Wings of Freedom closing in before he shot across the sky at it. He had thought for sure death was coming and he was just so damn happy to be alive!
Any incoming lecture would be just fine with him! He also knew the ascension pools would now reconnect! The Celestial Fields were alive!
He could see all his loved ones again! Laughter filled his soul and he wondered what the future held as he flew to his ship.

A battle was raging. Whole landscapes were changed by it but then restored the next moment. Time and space seemed to creak under the pressure of the shockwaves by the 2 sides.
The wondrous vista was lost on the bloody and grim beings. The waters sparkled strangely but none paid attention. All they could see was their enemy.
The commander of one side was shrouded in inky blackness and only showed 2 glowing white eyes. His massive broadsword flew like he was reaping a field but life was stolen with each swing.
His power was horrifying but suddenly he had a tiny misstep. At any other time it would be a minor, even unnoticed blip, but in a battle at their level, it was a lethal mistake.
A tree branch manifested and tore through his arm! Black blood flew in the air as the sword went flying. The monster had dodged at the last moment!
[Retreat.] The command was given calmly but the impossibly beautiful forces blanched their ash gray faces as their God was injured in such a way. They quickly fell back but the now 1 armed being narrowed his white eyes as he looked down.
[I will remember this, ant. You will pay.] He swept from the battlefield and none could follow as their one chance had failed.
The other side only had one question. What had distracted their implacable foe at that moment? It would be a very long time before they had that answer.
