Eternal Emerald Dragon

Chapter 787 - 786 - Inheritance

Chapter 787 - 786 - Inheritance

The dinner became a long affair as he indulged his children a bit more than normal.  The older ones suspected he was leaving but no one brought it up that night.

His night in his room, on the other hand, was something far more gentle and loving compared to the night all his wives trapped him once they reunited.

He could not delay his departure as he did not want to give the other powers time to consolidate something ridiculous to stop him.  He was done being controlled by their fears or worries.

How many meetings and policies did he have to deal with because it was 'how things were done?'

He also left Kilna, Xian, and Valkyrie to deal with Aldar's betrayal.  His suspicion of spies not marked by Fiends had actually been worse than even he imagined.

The rise of the sun found him calling all his ministers and family into the main hall.  His wives were all behind him in the finest robes that seemed to sparkle with Qi.

"I am an Immortal."  Lind started there and his aura left all the cultivators feeling suppressed at that moment.  A fresh Immortal was so powerful?!

Many also noticed a change in his appearance.  His hair and body were easy for those close to him but his robes sparked several telepathic discussions.

Normally he switched between emerald, crimson, and even a prismatic kind of robe depending on his role as Emperor.  Now, he wore a simple gray robe like an itinerant cultivator.

"As of this moment, I am no longer Emperor.  Many of you should have messages arriving right now explaining the details but I will be replaced by my wives once more."  His words made many have a near uproar.

His wives taking over was not a problem as they had led the sect for many centuries to great prosperity, but why was Lind abdicating!  His children had mixed reactions of surprise to crying.

He smiled gently at them as he let them come up to him without objection.

"I have reconnected an ascension pool to the Celestial Fields.  I cannot wait to fully master my ability and more, I suspect the Alliance will try to stop me.  I do not leave in the hopes to simply continue to live but to find answers to the Cataclysm and maybe a way forward for us all."  He only knew his instincts told him the next realm was dangerous but that was it.

He could not wait.

Several nobles and ministers nodded in agreement.

"Finally, Linghu has been named Emperor of the Law Binding.  What he does there will still be in alliance with us for now, but we no longer claim our lands in that place.  I make this action because it will one day disperse and even if it is reclaimed, it is too far to maintain without the Law Gate."  Again, nods but a lot of frowns as it was a loss of pure profit from that location.

Lind then bowed low and the room went dead silent.

"It has been my honor to be your Emperor and all of you worked above and beyond to make my dreams come true.  Thank you."  Before anyone else could react, space was torn open and he vanished from the room!

He had already mastered that technique!

Chaos broke out for a short time but the Empresses quickly brought it under control as their eyes glistened.

[I love you all and we will meet again.]

They all jumped as his voice entered their minds and made them smile.  They saw their kids breakdown or smile as they also got the message.  The Sanctuary Empire changed but endured as its founder went off to leave the Heaven Realm land forever.

The Heavenly Maiden sect had left a contingent to guard the newly reconnected ascension pool but it had not grown at all since the week it had appeared.

It was odd as ascension pools on the lower end should be essentially a flat silvery pool but this one was a column into the sky.

"Senior Romana, should you not be at the discussion for how to regulate this area?"  A young girl in the Star Tier was in the tent with the bright pink haired woman in charge of the camp.

She smiled at the well muscled dark haired girl in her tent.  They had a simple foldable table as they had to supply tents for nearly 100 thousand women who did not all have the ability to make a cultivation cave on hand.

It also secretly hid formation flags built into each tent.

Any idiot trying to get by them would be in for a nasty surprise.

"I hardly have any sway with the greater Alliance powers and we agreed someone should be here of some seniority to deal with the most likely issue to–"  Romana was in the middle of writing and speaking when she felt it.

The air actually became heavy to the point even she, a mid-Sliver Tier, could hardly get her Qi to move.

She tried to crack a crystal stone on her desk but it vanished!

[You won't be needing that, old friend.  Come out.]  The pressure vanished from her but she noticed the poor girl was on her knees still.  The floor of the tent was thankfully a tarp to protect from the sands of the desert but she felt irked he was being so rude.

She sighed and left the tent to see him looking rather humble in the air as he had the crystal in one hand and Protean in the other.

It was an odd choice as Protean could not take his full strength anymore.

"I do not recall you being so vicious to innocents, Lind."  She flew up to him but kept her hands in the open.  She did not dare even try to reach into her ring or bracelet.

Her pristine white robes actually made his light gray one seem even more austere compared to his normal robes.  She noticed it and frowned.

"I have to leave before they do something to stop me.  I can't explain it entirely but you know I am not impulsive."  She stared at him very hard at that statement before he smiled.  That smile made her relax.  He was still the man she knew.

"So why not simply blow past us?"  He clearly bypassed the formation somehow but had stopped to chat.  Was he just saying goodbye?  He could have done that in passing.

"There is something I have been contemplating for the last few centuries and I need something only you can help me with."  He then tossed her a jade slip which she sunk her senses into.

A stunned look crossed her face as it was not exactly something simple.

"You just expect me to agree?"  He smirked as he tossed one more slip to her and that time she nearly fell from the sky.  "When did you do this?!"

"I have always wondered about your situation.  Since you became an Immortal, your cultivation ground to a halt so I wondered if it was tied to your little trick."  The slip contained theories on souls, rebirth, and her unique situation.  Essentially, Lind theorized that her physique's potential renewed with her rebirth but eventually ran out like any other cultivator.

She could choose to live out her lifespan or trigger the renewal on her own.  It would still take some confirmation but it gave her a ton of ideas!

"You never play fair."  He smiled as she clearly agreed and he then flew into the air.

The 2 of them began to carve up space like it was clay.  Any of the Maidens that were able to, looked up in awe as space was sundered until a familiar distortion appeared of a portal!  It was the creation of a special realm!

Yet, time began to be manipulated at that moment and the portal shifted before it stabilized until it was right next to their camp.  It became a doorway!

All 18 elements were carved into it with no explanation but many felt pain when they looked at it.  The massive double doors made a dome shape until it became a massive base.

The doors quietly swung open to reveal senior Romana quickly stepping out but they watched on as Lind seemed to conjure buildings out of the sands, stone, and even resources!  He manipulated Qi like it was an instrument he alone could play.

Three towers rose from the main plaza.  They were clear to any that could piece things together.  Each tower had 7 floors.  The first 6 were colored by an element with the 7th being a prismatic fluctuation of the previous 6.

One tower for demons, one for natural, and one for what some had heard was called Celestial.  They thought it would end there but then the plaza began to be lined with alcoves of strange crystals housing flames within.

Many thought they were elemental crystals but then one of the Maidens lit up in violet flames just looking on.  Lind's hands moved like lightning to block her vision.

[Apologies, but any 6 elemental should not look at this yet.]  His words warned them and several closed their eyes.

The alcoves were then locked by weavings and it only took a moment for them to grasp what they were seeing!  Harmonic crystals!

Lind finally came to the center and slammed Protean into it.  The weapon blazed with emerald light that spread like a storm across the isolated special realm until Qi stormed inside!  After a time, he released his hands.

Lind looked sad at his spirit weapon.

[I entrust this place to you, my friend.  You will be the final arbiter of the Harmonic Inheritance I leave behind.  I will not leave my comprehension behind but an environment the 6 elementals and others can use to peer deeper into the elements and their harmonies.]

He then stepped back as a young child appeared.  He smiled and patted their head while both looked on the verge of tears.

"Good luck, Master."  Lind knelt down and pulled them into a hug.

"Father, I am your father Protean."  Tiny arms hugged him tight as life began to spring up in the landscape.  Grasses, trees, and all sorts of flora spread like lightning as Lind walked out.  A final weaving was cast on the door before Lind was about to walk out.

It was a mid grade 7!  It was his finest work but none could tell what it did.

[Be safe and I will see you again.]  His words finally brought a smile to Protean's face.

The doors slammed shut before a dragon figure appeared to seal it closed!

Lind then released his pressure on the Maidens.

"Goodbye to you all.  Please take care of yourselves."  Many of the 6 elementals wept but no one tried to stop him as he disappeared into the silvery stream of the ascension pool.

The Heavens rumbled in joy as an emerald spark appeared and shot up beyond anyone's ability to stop.

"Take care of yourself, Lind."  Romana could feel her jade communication stone shaking like mad but ignored it as she let tears fall.  The majestic doors had become foggy but did not move.  She had fixed it in Time and Space with him to that place.  It was not a true Inheritance but he gave it that name.  It was more of a trial and place of study but it contained all he could grasp of the path thus far.

He knew she was at the camp but the location would have been wherever she was at that time.  The Heaven Realm lost Lind but he left a final lesson behind for them.

Romana was stripped of her membership of the Heavenly Maidens but the Sanctuary Empire took her in.  The Inheritance became a mecca that no one could deny.  Literally, no one could stop it.

Shard Tiers could not seal it nor move it at all!  The chaos that followed was minor but in all of it, the Fiends were the losers.

Any attempt to breach the Alliance would find an attack of emerald Qi from that damned Inheritance!  When that was confirmed, the Alliance actually encouraged others to visit as they understood it renewed the Qi somehow inside it.  Qi stones were not needed, just sending people in and letting them study was enough.

Time passed and all would occasionally look up.  They all wondered the same thing.

Would Lind Frey open the door or fade into obscurity?
