Chapter 758 - 757 - Infestation
Chapter 758 - 757 - Infestation
"Quite a commotion we have here Guardian Elric. Care to explain why you set off the extreme emergency response inside our headquarters?" The slim woman had fine robes of bronze but Mythra could feel the pressure coming off them even across the room.
Grade 7 for sure, likely mid to high quality but she was unsure without a demonstration. She glanced at Lind's projection but it did not react to her thankfully.
"My Lady, Addison was revealed to be a Thrall, I saw it with my own eyes and senses." A spike of gold came off of her. Light Qi, and potent, but the woman swiveled her sapphire eyes to Mythra.
The instant those eyes looked at her, it was like there were no secrets yet the snout of a dragon snapped between them, breaking the connection.
[Try that again and I will become cross.] Lind's voice made the woman react in surprise.
"Not a simple life saving artifact but true projection? Interesting." The woman made to move but the shield around Mythra flared and pushed back. "Oh ho? Another interesting artifact too. So many toys you have, young lady."
Lind's projection narrowed its eyes but nothing else happened.
"Let me see here." Another wave of aura swept the room and a frown crossed her face. "His body is too pristine, exactly like those corpses exposed during several purges. A rather unique way to die."
Addison's body then convulsed as it was picked up roughly and her face became enraged.
"There it is!" A flash coincided with a resounding crack as a ring was broken open. A vile Qi filled the room but Lind acted quickly. His emerald Qi swiftly purified it and left behind a broken dagger.
While it was now useless, it had an emblem on it he recognized. A heart with a crack in it.
[The Widow.] His words made the room shiver.
"I do not suppose you could sweep the entire fortress?" The Guild Master spoke up but Lind shook his head.
[I am almost at my limit after that. I would have to come in person to do so, but I will demand a price.] Mythra schooled her face to being blank instantly but inside she was smiling.
"Of course, work should be compensated and favors returned. It is our policy. What do you want?" Lind turned to Mythra and she bowed.
"Emperor Frey would like to use his slot to enter the Inheritance of Lost Knowledge. I suspect he would also like a few grade 7 seeds if possible. The kind can be negotiated." She felt praise in her mind.
The Guild Master narrowed her eyes.
"The slot is not a problem, obviously. The circumstances allow us to make an exception and there is a free one besides since not all had been purchased this round. I can compensate for that power." It was acceptable but Mythra felt a rejection coming for the rest.
"Grade 7 seeds are a different matter. It would depend on how much you find." Mythra titled her head and closed her crimson and green eyes in thought. It seemed fair.
"I would say that is fair, my Emperor." Lind flinched at her words but understood it was a formal moment. He was just supremely not used to Mythra being serious. It freaked him out.
[I am here.] Surprise flickered but she saw the Guild Master smile as a staff appeared. A shift occurred in the air as pressure fell away.
"Be quick." The words were barely finished when the light of the room shifted. Emerald Qi flooded the entire structure.
Screams filled the air as well as a feeling of terrible vileness. It was insane how large it was that even the Guild Master shook with rage and shock.
"So many?! How?!" She was about to move when suddenly the world shifted!
The power of Heaven and Earth!
[HOW DARE YOU?! How dare you force this on them?! Did you think you could escape my eyes?! DIE!] Mythra felt herself being shoved into the ground as well as everyone else. Just what had he found?

Lind was in the sky above the flying fortress and his Eyes were not blocked at all. The Guild Master, Justine as he knew her name to be, had stripped it all away. The instant he let his senses roam he found a horrifying thing.
A ritual was being performed on a young man to forcefully turn him into a thrall!
Somehow and somewhen, the Fiends got an agent inside. Maybe some thrall they barely touched or specially prepared and began to slowly turn the interior to their needs. It had to be slow due to the strict security.
If there was 100,000 people going in and out over a year, it was not impossible that one slipped in or fooled a recruiter. It did not matter.
What mattered was how many there were! He could not save them, only kill them! Once made into a thrall, he could not sever the connection.
It was not like the Soulless or those poor bastards Timat fed on in the old 6 empire days. It was true thralls.
He pushed his dantian to its utmost and let a storm of harmonic Qi cover the whole fortress with no chance to run. A few of his own artifacts resonated and released their power as well.
He then found the culprit. A transformed thrall!
The Fiend was stripped of its disguise and tried to fight back but he did not let it go! Even just concentrating his harmonic Qi was enough to cripple it. It could not feed nor escape and he found 2 more!
[DIE!] Rage flooded his body as they tried to get their hands on innocent cultivators but his harmony protected them all. He was running out fast though. Heaven then answered his call.
He was caught off guard. Why did Heaven suddenly answer to the presence of Fiends where he had not seen it before? What had–?!
Lind realized something in the moment but pushed it aside. He had to focus. His Eyes never lost his targets as black clouds gathered. The rage of Heaven crashed over them all but he felt empowered by it.
[GO TO HELL!] Lighting slammed into the fortress but did not one iota of damage to the structure. It was emerald lightning! The bolts found their targets and burned them to ash!
The moment the last one died, the clouds dispersed and he felt faint. He barely stayed afloat. His nature as a dragon came in handy from time to time. He then checked on Mythra and saw she was fine but wiped out.
A chagrined smile crossed his face as he realized he had knocked out a lot of people in his little attack.
Lian and the others on his sky ship were perfectly safe it seemed. They were stuck in it though and unable to help.
He quickly found a few elixirs and tossed them in the open windows and doors he could access. The effect would be greatly reduced but it would be a start.
Sure enough, some recovered enough to be useful.
[To all that can hear my voice, the Fiends have been purged. Please use the elixirs I am about to give you to help others. Quickly get the control and monitoring teams to stabilize the artifact up and running again.] He then began pitching like he was an expert from baseball but his improved physical abilities made it child's play.
In a very short time the majority of cultivators were back on their feet.
He then saw Justine glaring at him but he merely shrugged his shoulders as he knew she could see him with her senses.
Still, he had just wiped out a good chunk of her personnel. It was not a small thing.
[There were 3 Fiends in full possession inside and forcing the thrall technique on all they could. It is located in 2 places. It is a medical research area on the 5th floor of the tower that has a lot of pills and elixirs stored away. The other is in a tower full of weapons and armor on display. It is on the 3rd floor from the top.] He felt her shock and rage but she nodded before all the defenses went back up.
He did not stay around and made his way back to the nearest teleportation array. He quickly drew up some plans for simply screening artifacts. Fiends could hide a lot but not their Qi from him.
Any exposure to his harmonic Qi and even the most suppressed thrall would be exposed. Any hidden artifact would also be damaged unless inside a ring or other storage device but there were already many ways to find those.
The real danger were those agents that did not even know they were ones until far too late.
The mark of the Widow also had him concerned. Since Zerod's death, the 2 surviving powerful Immortal Fiends had not made much noise.
The latest battles had been standard Sliver Tier Fiends. This discovery revealed they already had plans moving forward that all powers should be wary of.
"Shi and Kin, I am relaying what I just discovered at the Helion Trading Guild. I want our entire Empire to make it a priority and our allies to be warned. I am making new artifacts for that purpose but we are not profiting a thing off them. Go quickly." He used his bracelet to reach out as his range of telepathy could even get close to the distance he was at now.
The teleportation array came in sight as the flustered guards of the town were seeing him return. He winced at the damage he would have to cover out of his own pocket but hopefully it would not get back to Lysanna.
He did not need to get in trouble after all that!
