Chapter 752 - 751 - True Emperor
Chapter 752 - 751 - True Emperor
Lind's body ached but was recovering. If they had time or had been able to let loose, there was no way he could have cornered the 2 Immortals as he had.
When he received the report from the emerald cloaks about the meeting, he immediately had Annabelle get her best illusions and they headed out. He was no longer going to be blindsided nor let others dictate his path.
It was rude but then again, at least 1 of their members had already had a conflict with him before. Further, he had no illusion about what such a meeting would be at that time.
The 4 of them were legends in the current world but he did not care.
He took a seat and summoned his own tea set. The profound scent actually drew all 4 eyes to him in curiosity. It was a grade 7 set of leaves!
Lind figured he should compensate that much at least for his intrusion.
"All of you enjoy the tea. It is sylvan goldroot. I believe it is ridiculously expensive at auction." He saw old Aldar snatched his blue tea up immediately followed swiftly by the others.
Sylvan goldroot was a very rare tea ingredient. It was more commonly used in grade 7 pills. Law Divining Pills to be precise. It was a very potent and near impossible pill to find in the present.
The tea had similar effects and could help Immortals possibly gain enlightenment but they would at least see massive progress on the first exposure.
Lind let them savor it and saw none of them had it before. Even Valkyrie, being a Shard Tier, seemed to benefit immensely.
His rude arrival was now forgotten in an instant as the 4 Immortals smiled in joy.
Kilna began to feel very profound before it slowed down. A cluster of Laws had progressed clearly while Xian was much calmer.
Of them all, it was Aldar that gained the most. His aura became even more deadly and seemed to cut the very air until he reigned it in.
"Emperor Frey, you should visit more often." Aldar's words made it clear his trespass was forgiven.
"I have suffered too much death. I have been naive and too hopeful my goodwill would be returned in kind. I still won't stop teaching, but potential threats will no longer be ignored. I understand you feel threatened but you could have saved an immense amount of time by asking a simple question." Lind sipped the tea.
For him, it was only partially helpful but his body put it to other uses as beasts could improve their bodies with the same sylvan goldroot. It took immense amounts but Lind had long since benefited from it.
Aldar and Valkyrie nodded at his words. His losses were very public and the last battle had killed many. Only a fool did not learn from such losses.
Kilna frowned but said nothing as it was not her power and she did not really care when all was said and done.
"You could still have been courteous enough to wait for us to petition your power to greet us." Xian was not aggressive but he was still a bit frustrated.
"We cannot speak openly around those accursed ministers that insist on meetings we do not have to have!" Lind's own frustration made the 3 sect members grin but Xian nodded sagely.
He had no desire to be part of a group for that very reason. Xian would be free!
"So, while my network has kept an eye on all our guests, your meeting drew my eye. If you all decided my wife was an issue, it would be too late if I waited. So, I am here." He made no mention of their discussion about quality or anything else.
Instead, he produced jade slips.
All 4 sunk their senses into them before shock filled them.
"Are you serious about this?" Lind smiled. It was the result of Cyntilla's breakthrough and what had occurred to them out there.
"As much as I can be. Based on what I know of tribulations, my wife went wild and Heaven was not amused. Still, she overcame 6 rounds before having to stop. I suspect more of my wives will do as much or more in the future but the issue is me." He looked serious at each of them.
"I am a progenitor." He rarely spoke of that but it was not a secret. Yet Xian, of all of them, went wide eyed in shock. "Assuming I am anywhere close to my wife, what kind of devastation do you think that will cause?"
Immortal tribulations were beyond natural disasters. They could wipe whole swathes of land into dust! The area set aside for facing Immortal Tribulations was a desolate landscape now.
Assuming it happened again, no life could ever grow there in the future. He planned to rebuild it but after confirming a lot of his research with the 4 of them talking, he suspected a problem they never considered.
Lind let them absorb that fact before he dropped the next problem on them.
"I possess all 3 derivative professions and they are an integral part of my path. My harmony is a Living Law as well. I will be releasing that and other information about harmonies in general. Now, at your best guess, what am I looking at?" All 4 suddenly understood why Lind did not wait for them.
Their discussion was not really an issue but the revelations revealed a terrifying danger in Lind himself as well as other 6 elementals.
"I do not know. The texts with the artifact did not have that kind of detail, obviously, but there was one thing in reference to the last 3 tribulations. No one alive, even a higher tier Immortal, can be nearby. If they are, they will be killed by Heaven and Earth." That little fact made all of them star at Aldar.
Why had he not mentioned that before?
Lind pondered it but understood the likely reason.
"The elemental tribulation will disrupt on a fundamental level anyone watching. They will be drawn into the tribulation as it is built on the integration of elements?" Aldar nodded and made all grim.
Each cultivator was on their own path but the naked power of tribulations could destroy with such Laws exposed to them.
"Mind and soul would be similar. The bare truth is not easy to accept." Aldar nodded happily but again, the other 3 Immortals looked irked. That was critical information he had held back.
"Still, the odds of reaching it are–" Aldar was interrupted by Xian.
"A progenitor's tribulations are different. Heaven and Earth will raze the world with a manifestation of the bloodline." Aldar went from irritated to grave.
"Assuming even a normal quality, what kind of power would that have?" Kilna was finally curious but Aldar looked like he was ashen.
It was Valkyrie, however, who answered.
"Empress Cyntilla had a tribulation that spanned 50 square kilometers and expanded up to nearly 100. That was also only 6 rounds. Assuming a rough comparison that I know of, a normal progenitor tribulation could cover the entirety of the capital city of the Sanctuary Empire." Her words made all of them deeply concerned.
Progenitor tribulations were not exactly unknown but damned rare. They were also always terrifyingly more powerful than normal tribulations every time.
"So, my people are not only endangered by me, but also by the many 6 elementals. While not all will have my issues, there is a very good chance their harmony could drastically increase their tribulations as well." Lind poured out more tea that each enjoyed.
They did not have the benefit again, but it was very soothing for Immortals.
Lind's words painted a problem that they would all need to address. The 6 elementals were appealing members of organizations. If he was right, they had to figure out how to prepare!
"There is one more issue you should all be aware of. Senior Soltara of the Elementals has confirmed that my particular harmony may reopen the ascension pools." All 4 leapt to their feet but then calmed down.
A Sun Tier could not do it certainly but an Immortal? Maybe.
"I have heard of her from some of my people but she is very reclusive. Was she the one who invited you out?" Lind was not surprised Kilna knew of his little trip but he nodded.
"In any case, I must protect my people and need assistance. Now that I grasp the larger issue, it is even more imperative. So I am asking, will you help me?" All 4 were stunned at the turn of the meeting.
Originally, they expected him to be overbearing and accuse them of conspiring against him but he had turned it to the issues of future tribulations.
"It seems we can truly be of help to you, Emperor Frey." Aldar's respectful tone made the others situp. "I can easily share the texts from the Ruin the artifact came from. They are not exactly secrets but it may now be critical."
Lind bowed and even Xian looked contemplative.
"In my travels, I found a vast desert to the east. It is oppressive and very dangerous even to me, but there are few beasts or plants out there. I have never seen the other side." Lind perked up at that.
"You already have demonic artifacts so I will say it might be wise to counterbalance your elements with ours. It should help contain things better." Kilna's suggestion was problematic in Lind's case but he noted it for others.
"We will help you." All swiveled to Valkyrie as she looked dead serious. "If you need help containing the danger, we will do so. We owe you that much at least."
Lind slowly nodded but Annabelle did not look pleased.
He waved her back but he then produced 4 vials.
Peak low grade 7 elixirs! One of them was even demonic!
"I offer these gifts as payment for promises given. Understand if you break your words, there will be consequences." All 4 suddenly shivered as a pressure on par with them appeared. A faint silhouette of a dragon appeared and disappeared before they could register it fully.
"Enjoy the rest of the tea. I look forward to seeing you at the ball and other festivities." Lind was about to walk away when he stopped and smiled. "Should you want more sylvan goldroot, there will be a special auction hosted by Starfirel House. Lady Mythra will expect you if you are interested."
Kilna actually cracked a smile as Xian looked like a kid offered his favorite toy! With that herb, they could find an alchemist to make the pill they could still use!
Valkyrie had new respect in her eyes. He blew into their meeting, diverted them with an enticing gift, garnered their aid, and then left another gift to cement the good will. Just as he went to leave with respect, he now baited them with a tempting offer to feed his coffers.
He was a true emperor through and through.
