Chapter 707 - 706 - Forced Rebirth
Chapter 707 - 706 - Forced Rebirth
Lind took 4 days to fully recover but that was nothing compared to the miracle of Tessa. She had been an empty husk but was responding to elixirs and other aid from experienced healers.
Absolutely none of them could explain a thing about her body or meridians. Her dantian defied all logic of the cultivation world.
Kexin confirmed it was indeed a true demonic 6 elemental but there were clear records Tessa had most certainly not been one. Also, her harmony felt very different to Kexin. She was actually in awe of it!
Lind's examination was far less rosy.
His meridians were fine but his dantian actually dropped back into the low Sun Tier. Further, his ability to cultivate had not fully recovered either but it was doing so slowly.
Further, he had no idea what exactly he did. He recalled most of the experience, especially the strange void he had been in but there was nothing his harmony did all on its own that made a lick of sense to his current understanding of anything.
Since he was stuck recovering as well, he decided it was long past time to get some answers.
"Spirit of the ring, do you have a name?" Lind had to wait until he recovered as invoking the ring purposely was a draining experience. Its occasional messages were nothing but a full conversation would be a very exhausting affair.
[It would be wiser for you to set up a gathering weaving or use a formation plate, Master.]
He took the advice and asked for Annabelle to set up the best formation array she could. His weaving might be too much for him as his soul felt…odd…to him currently.
It was fine so far as he could tell but it was tied to his harmony which was not up to par at the moment. Best to be cautious.
Annabelle quickly helped him out and then gave him a very stern warning not to do anything crazy so soon again! He scratched the side of his cheek as technically he had not actually done the things that put him in his current state.
Still, he had a healthy survival instinct and agreed heartily.
Once the Qi was flowing into his body, he actually felt much better but knew it would cease the moment the array stopped.
After a few moments, a bald man in find black robes and dark skin appeared. He had strange eyes but Lind was stunned how much stronger he felt. His ring spirit had recovered.
"I have had many names, Master, but few I keep once my old Master's passed on. You may name me if you–" Lind's stern glare made the man back up.
"I did not create you and I am not your owner of my own will. We were put together due to my getting inside a Divine Inheritance. You are far older than me as well. So, do you not have a name of your own?" The spirit seemed surprised.
"You are odd, Master, you know that?" The smile made Lind smirk back as the man bowed and sat down. "When I was made by the First One, she called me Haro."
Lind smiled and bowed low to Haro.
"It is a pleasure to meet you. I assume you know some of what I want to ask?" Haro rubbed the back of his head as he looked a little lost.
"Honestly, you are always doing things that are impossible but I have never known a 6 elemental before either. It is possible there is something unique to your harmonies that opens up something most cultivators at your low realm normally can't do." Lind arched an eyebrow that Haro viewed a Sun Tier as a low realm.
"Is a Living Law a real thing?" Haro nodded but then frowned.
"They are from the Dawn of All Things, in other words the beginning of the Dao and all life, but no one has seen or comprehended a Living Law since that time. The first cultivators were born due to them according to legend. Your theory on Elementals is right too." Haro just casually threw out the last part but Lind felt a little vindicated but also shocked.
"Half the things you do can be explained by that little fact, Master. A Living Law is not as restricted as other Laws. The fact it is part of your soul is not a small thing either as no legend of that exists either but it might be why no one has seen them if they died with their masters." Lind felt confused.
How could a Law die? His confusion was apparent.
"Ha! Master, by definition, if a Law can live, it can also die. The Laws as you were taught are correct but there is also a division you now should understand. Living Laws, Eternal Laws, and Lost Laws." Lind grasped it quickly.
The vast majority of Laws fell under the middle category and Living Laws he was learning about but the last once likely referred to the very issue of dead Laws. Since Laws could not be found, they were lost.
"You said the spark was gone, the core of a soul, so what exactly did I do?" Haro no longer smiled as he became grim and looked at him harshly.
"Master, I want to be clear that what I am about to relay to you should not leave this room, ever. Not even if you reach the peak of the cultivation world should you speak of what just happened. I suspect more was involved than luck and your Law but the only thing that matches your friend is called Forced Rebirth." The 2 words nearly made Lind cough up blood.
The array also nearly shattered. Haro looked apologetic but there was nothing he could do. Lind stabilized and thankfully that minor damage recovered quickly.
"I will avoid that but understand that what you have done nearly undid you, Master. I am not talking about death but actual dispersal of your existence. There would not even be a body left behind." A chill shot up Lind's spine as on some level his instincts agreed! He knew what Haro was talking about! His clarity made him nod.
"You are slow to recover because your soul is still returning Master. It will take months but normal activity should not be too impacted. Weaving is possible but grade 7 work should be avoided for several years in my opinion." Lind began to grasp how serious his situation was.
"Is there a way to speed it up?" Haro shrugged.
"I would normally say no but with you, I feel that is not a wise thing to say. Your being alive is already a huge leap of luck. The only cultivator that could do what you have done is a Divine Realm and even they would not do it so lightly." Lind expected a headache but nothing came. He looked relieved but Haro did not.
"You have touched on something very dangerous to know at your realm, Master. It is not impossible that if you grasp some of it, your body could be destroyed entirely. Try not to delve into it until you are an Immortal at least. It will be much safer then." Lind bowed to the advice. He was in no hurry.
"Will Tessa suffer from this?" He was told her memory was recovering but sometimes she would look terrified. It was like she was looking around in horror.
"She is like you, her soul is returning but much faster than yours. The difference is you basically ripped her out of that place which I cannot yet tell you about. Your guess on what it is is not bad but not right either. You are not ready to know it all." Lind bowed again. Still, a thought came to him.
"I was there before?" Haro nodded quickly.
"All souls at some point have been there, even my kind if they get strong enough could be lucky enough to go there. Despite your experience, it is not usually a bad place. The demoness was simply attacked by those vile creatures." Lind was about to nod when his mind froze.
He slowly looked up at Haro as his eyes narrowed.
"Did Fiends exist when you were born?" Haro smiled at his word choice but he nodded.
"I think you are right but when I was born as a spirit, I only began to have continuous memories long after they ravaged the–" Haro froze and put a hand to his mouth. "Sorry, can't kill you with knowledge after I warned you not to do it yourself."
Lind frowned but accepted it.
"So what will happen to Tessa once she recovers?" Haro shrugged but smiled.
"Whatever she wants but I suspect she will need your help. Her cultivation knowledge no longer applies to her. Her Arts, techniques, and general skills are all out of sync with her now. That, in itself, is not unusual in this circumstance." Lind felt some relief and made some notes in his head to talk to Kexin as she would be key.
"One last thing, Master." Lind looked and saw Haro was deadly serious. "What you have done will likely have drawn attention to very powerful beings. They can't reach you at the moment and I do not know what is going on in the Celestial Fields, but beings you cannot grasp will be looking for you as you grow. Their agents will have your aura at least and possibly your soul signature as well. Do not let them take you no matter what. Even death would be preferable." Haro was not joking and Lind felt it.
He understood it was beyond his comprehension but then a stir came over him. He then looked at Haro and the room felt too small.
"If they come for my family, they will die." Thunder rumbled and even Haro seemed to be suddenly sweating. Lind had changed. He had never been avoiding killing, but he never sought it out unless forced to it.
The Fiends were the nail in the coffin, however, to the peaceful Lind Frey. He had been changing anyway but Haro had imagined he would one day pull back from all the wars to teach the future generations.
Still venerated but no longer a warrior.
Now, Haro felt they would dearly wish they had left Lind Frey alone. It was like he could see it and a smile slowly crept across his face.
"I will be with you all the way. By the way, check the space sometime soon. You earned some rewards." Haro then shimmered before disappearing.
Lind stopped the array and nearly collapsed. His body had clearly been under some stress but he was recovering as he crawled back into bed.
He sent a message to Kexin quickly with some notes but to keep an eye on Tessa for now. He also admitted he had no idea what he had done.
It was not entirely a lie as Haro had to explain carefully since even the title hurt Lind! He actually got ready to sleep as his body felt so heavy! He also noted to look into some soul recovery items but had to be careful no one knew who they were for.
He also swore heavily to stop letting his harmony run rampant in the future!
