Eternal Emerald Dragon

Chapter 706 - 705 - Lost in the Dark

Chapter 706 - 705 - Lost in the Dark

Lind did not get a chance to meet with Elder Krull as he seemed to feel an extreme need to report to his sect and leave.  A simple bow between them was all and his carriage raced off.  Lind smirked as the battle continued but he had to let it be.

It seemed they would be fighting for a while.

He walked up the dark gray steps and noted the well made pots holding plants to either side were partially sentient.  They moved as he walked up but he felt no danger.  In fact, they seemed happy to see him if he was to put a name to it.

The obsidian doors were firmly closed and Lind felt the strong aura repelling people but he merely kept moving.

He then used the knocker on the right door.  The echo he should have been able to hear was missing until he felt a shift in Qi.

"I already told you all to leave–"  A handsome demon opened the door.  The instant Lind saw Kal, he felt all his instincts respond to danger but he smiled at the now shocked young man.

He no longer had the horns, wings, and tail like the last time Lind saw him but his lavender skin was very dark compared to before.  He also felt like the muscles on Kal's body were far more dense than anyone he had yet met.

"M-master Lind?"  Lind smiled as he pulled the boy into a hug.  There was no resistance but then he felt Kal grasp on tightly and he let the boy calm himself down.

"Did you think I forgot about you?"  Lind patted the boy's head.  He could feel Kal was close to becoming an Immortal Realm.  The Akashic Physique was terrifying in its efficiency.

"Please come in."  Lind nodded as he followed him inside the massive place.  He saw there was no one else which made him frown.  He had ordered assistance as people freed up or if they were too injured for heavy work to give them something to do as they recovered.

Yet all his dragon senses confirmed they were the only people inside the house at the front door aside from those that left.  Where was all the help?

As if reading his mind, Kal frowned.

"There were too many spies or just greedy people for me to put up with."  Lind suspected it was not that bad but then again the demons were a bit ticked off Kal was in his sect.

They went up the winding steps to the 2nd floor but they moved to the far end of the hall lined in simple blue carpet and some more potted plants.

"She said she hated wasting space with paintings."  Kal sounded choked up but Lind followed until they were in front of an emaciated woman that Lind once knew well.

She had been a beauty that rivaled the then future Empress of the Blood Empire accepted under the title Temptress.  Tessa had been a fervent and hard working woman just trying to make her Clan's deepest wish come true even if she had to sacrifice herself.

Kal had yet to awaken his physique but then Lind interfered to save her from the con job being run on them all.

Lind gently took the withered hand in his own and the frail head looked at him but there was nothing in the empty eyes looking at him.  Most of her soul was gone.

Kal had only barely stopped the Fiends from taking all of her but the Fiend that did it was slaughtered in the latest fight so retrieving her by even the riskiest method was now moot.

"Hello, Tessa, it has been too long."  A tear formed in his eye.  She had been incredibly helpful and a good friend during difficult years.

[Master, the spark is gone.  She is only a husk now.]

Lind grimaced at the intrusion of his ring's spirit but he knew it was trying to tell him there was no one inside the body in front of him, but he ignored it.  He knew it was far more knowledgeable but sometimes it was better to be comforted by a lie when confronted by such a tragedy.

Lind leaned in and hugged her gently before laying her back down.  Kal was turned away from them but Lind was about to stand up when a thought occurred to him.

He downed one more elixir and then used his Eyes to look at her meridians.

It was a nightmare.  The meridians were shattered entirely and the dantian was just a dim sphere inside her.  Further he saw very little spirit Qi just as the ring told him but he pushed more Qi into his eyes.

They began to burn but he refused to stop.  It had been a very long time since his Talents advanced but he had not pushed them as much as he used to.

The body vanished from his eyes as all he saw were faint wisps of energy.  It was Qi but it was not.  His Eyes spiked in pain but he did not look away.  The wisps felt familiar but he could not recall ever seeing them before.

His Touch tried to touch on them but it burned his mind to even get close.

Laws, he was seeing Law traces!  It was consuming his Qi like made to do it but he then looked around and found the covers, wood, and other structures were much brighter and stable compared to Tessa's body.

Why was that?  Did Fiends consume Laws as well as everything else?  Immortals certainly would but Tessa had not been an Immortal, only a mid Sun Tier from what he had heard so what was going on?

Lind looked at Kal and was almost blinded by the searing sea of Laws around him.  He was a storm of them!

He closed his senses off to the unnecessary as he turned back to Tessa.  The ring said she was gone but Laws would be dispersing wouldn't they?  Why would traces remain?

Like outside, an instinct told him to use his harmony.  His sun glowed as very delicate emerald traces entered his vision.  He was in awe at how bright his harmony was even compared to Kal.

A Living Law that being called itself.  Did it understand what it could do even if Lind did not?

The traces wavered with his concentration so he focused on it as the harmonic traces touched each floating Law trace he saw.  Something profound was happening but everytime he tried to grasp it, he nearly collapsed.  He was too weak!

What was once chaos was slowly becoming ordered once more.  He felt like it was pointless as it made no chance aside from the traces themselves but then a pressure fell over Lind.

He was suddenly in a void!  The darkness stretched forever in front of him save a single emerald thread attached to him and once leading off into the dark.  He was confused about what just happened but the pressure he recognized.

It was the pressure of Heaven when a tribulation or wrathful strike was coming.

Where was he and why?  The traces had been made stable but he was then moved to the strange void.

He also felt like he had been there before.  He had moved through the Void, but the current one was not in his memory at all.  Yet, the familiarity remained.

[..ter!....ul….nger!]

A faint message tried to reach him but Lind ignored it as a shocking thing appeared in front of him.

A cracked and barely holding together ephemeral woman was floating attached to the other thread in the void.  He knew her!  He knew who she was!

He tried to grab her but that was when he understood what was going on.  He was not in his body anymore!

He looked up and noticed the thread was dimming connecting them both.  A sudden comprehension came to him.  He knew where he was!

The space between life and death!  The space those that reincarnate wait to be reborn!

His comprehension made the pressure lessen which was confusing but the thread increased in intensity so he took the good sign for what it was.

The woman began to become clearer and he heard her screams.  She was in pain!  He also felt the same Law traces in her but they were the other parts of them!  He felt like he was on the tip of understanding something when the world finally shifted back to flesh and blood.

Lind was sent falling to the ground and Kal caught him.  The sun had not moved a centimeter so he knew all that happened in a few breaths at most!  Lind slowly looked up and realized he was completely out of Qi but his sun was also incredibly dim!

[MASTER!  HOW DID YOU REMOVE YOUR SOUL FROM YOUR BODY?!]

A cold sweat went down Lind's back.  Before the Immortal Realm, the soul outside the body was essentially a cloud in resilience.  A good breeze could shatter it!

Both men jumped when they heard a sound that was not either of them.

"L-L-L-L.."  The still incredibly frail woman was now looking at them in shock and confusion.  Pain was there too but Kal dropped Lind on the ground!  Still, neither noticed at all!

Lind weakly opened the normal pouch at his waist and downed all 3 elixirs.  Qi stormed his dantian and his body recovered quickly but he was stunned that it was only at half capacity at best!  How close to death had he come?!

His Eyes barely worked but what he saw was flat out impossible.

Tessa's meridians were slowly repairing but would need careful help to fully recover but her dantian was what shocked Lind.

She previously had a normal demonic dantian but now she had 6 primary demonic elements and a virulent green flame of a sun!  She was the 2nd demon 6 elemental but she had not been born that way!

"Tessa!"  Kal wept openly as Lind gave orders into his bracelet for Qing and Cyntilla to get to the mansion as quickly as possible with several elixirs.  He also asked if Kexin was nearby and she was so he ordered her to get there as soon as possible as well.

What had he done?
