Chapter 702 - 701 - A Plethora of Immortals
Chapter 702 - 701 - A Plethora of Immortals
It had been one year since Lind Frey had returned. The Fiends were still in some chaos from what scouts and the new defense line reported. The Alliance had been slightly better but they had lost a lot of Immortals.
The Fiends had lost some as well but compared to regular Immortals, Fiend Immortals were far more lethal.
It was also expected that now that some slots had opened, more would appear quickly, but that issue was fixed by an unexpected storm of Immortals from Lind Frey!
His estimates had been slightly off.
Although only 3 million had attempted so far, they already had 1 million Immortals!
There were not enough resources to support so many!
Yet, that was not a concern for the present. Each Immortal was very young, relatively speaking, compared to those that had been born in the Alliance. Most Immortal Realms were born in the latter stage of Heaven Realm lives. It meant that most of their potential was used up.
The peak Sun Tiers from the Law Binding, however, were all in peak condition on average! It meant these were not old men and women barely crossing the line, but very vital Immortals!
It was something they had very few of before save a handful of geniuses!
The Heavenly Maiden Sect made out like thieves as nearly all of the new Maidens advanced! They were already a supreme power so few made a comment but the newly born Sanctuary Empire was insane!
Of the 1 million thus far that succeeded were nearly all Lind Frey's! There were more coming too!
The rest were recruited by various powers or otherwise set up their own if they wanted. Immortals were the peak of the Heaven Realm lands afterall!
Lind was not ignorant of that issue but there was little that could be done. The Celestial Fields were dangerous for some reason.
Any Immortal that tried to ascend or use the ascension pools, died. He had no idea why that was but suspicions had begun to sprout as he learned more about the other side of the Cataclysm that defined the birth of the Law Binding.
Apparently, over 5 million years ago, there had been no Fiends at all in the Heaven Realm. Suddenly, they began to invade and the Void of Heaven was their initial method to avoid automatic punishment.
A lot of records were lost but every surviving power from that time agreed on that much. Then a million years ago, something unknown happened but all powers that had previously had connections to the Celestial Fields lost all contact like the snap of a finger.
Lind knew the 2 events were related but he did not know how. Zerod likely had known more since he tapped into some force but he did not seem certain about it.
Lanbao might have known something but she was gone.
In any case, Lind actually began rebuilding Seeds as quickly as he could but with massive modifications. He had been planning his return for a very long time and his experiments in the Law Binding had proven some theories he had.
The Seeds could be nurtured to help up to Sliver Tier but it took an insane amount of time. At least 500 thousand years to even really see sustainable returns for the projected level of Immortals.
The plus side of the storm of Immortals was an almost breath of relief all of the Alliance could take.
The current Fiends were no threat at all even if the current Immortals were all they got. Lind, however, planned for darker days.
Zerod was dead, but there had been 2 female Fiends the reports spoke of on similar levels of leadership that survived. Worse, they were horrifying war records.
Widow was like a succubus in her methods but none knew how powerful she was to be the right hand of Zerod for such a long time. Lind suspected she hid her true methods behind the more salacious ones.
Mycea, on the other hand, was a new level of terror to him. She had restructured her body from her victims and followers! In other words, the body she currently inhabited was not her original one!
No one knew what happened to it but an Immortal corpse would transform into a resource in time. She could have created a Fiend treasure over and over again!
"Master?" Lua's voice caught Lind off guard as she had been training but she was now looking nervous in his doorway. He was in his office so she was more than welcome. He smiled as best he could but he was still not like he was before.
He had been through too much to be the same but he was no longer as gloomy as when Lanbao first died. He had spent many sessions with Qing to avoid the more dangerous aspects too.
"What is wrong?" Lua blushed deeply which was odd. She was normally a bubbly girl with him when they were not in public or outside training. She was now fidgeting.
"Um, ah, Mistress Shoti said to tell you to keep your promise or things will get difficult." Lind fell out of his chair.
Upon his return, things had obviously not been the happy reunion they dreamed of for many reasons but they had discussed his promise. Obviously, he was not in a good headspace at first so it was easily postponed but of all things, sending LUA to remind him?!
"Um, Master, did you really promise to do that?" There were times he forgot how maturity was slowed down in the Heaven Realm compared to what he was used to in the mortal realms.
A mortal could easily live up to 200 years in the Heaven Realm lands. The quality and density of Qi had such benefits but Lua was only 40!
She was still very much a child!
Even so, it was clear Shoti was handling her education. He would need to correct that!
"We put off making a family for a long time and originally we wanted to start when I ascended." Lind started but saw Lua get as red as a tomato! He sighed and simply softened his next words. "I was lost in grief when I returned. I think she is reminding me the future will be better."
Lua got sad at his words but then nodded.
As he was about to continue, his head snapped to the hall behind her. An Immortal aura was coming but it was unstable. He tried to recognize it but it was lost on him until a very familiar face came through.
"Master, I broke through." Shi was smiling ear to ear as she came in. Lua lit up like a star in joy and Lind smiled wide as well.
"Fantastic! Consolidate your foundation, you are still unstable." Linghu had to be informed as he would be thrilled to know his sister would no longer be left behind.
Shi bowed but then smiled even wider.
"Kin and Gravis also broke through. Benny was irritated but she will be coming soon." The transfer of resources and people was not 1 to 1. Not everyone wanted to leave and he did not force them.
Still, the various powers had mostly uprooted themselves to leave one way or the other. The only condition imposed on them was to leave enough Sky Realms behind to administer the lower powers under their protection for the moment.
The aether beasts had basically begged to leave so they could advance. The need to move forward and not be trapped overcame their instincts for their territory.
Lind knew some would have issues crossing until they got to the Heaven Realm, but he had neglected to mention those numbers to Valkyrie. The beasts might have less success though so it may not become an issue.
The most amusing thing was when the bandits thought their time had come. Haim had led the demons to wipe them out when they appeared before he announced they would stay to defend the lands!
Lind still had a large number of demons leave to join him.
The loss of life had been essentially overcome by the emigration of all cultivators from his empire but he did not force anyone to leave. Still, unsurprisingly, most came or planned to come as soon as they could.
The number of Immortals had been conservative but the reality was likely closer to 4 million Immortals when all was said and done. His empire alone would have the lion's share in theory yet he was not a fool.
Such a lopsided power scale would invite issues.
He would have to hold a serious meeting with many factions inside his old empire. Some would be happy to strike out on their own but remain close, while others would possibly throw a tantrum being asked to leave.
Lind sighed and then saw Lua blushing again. He bowed to them both and left to go find his meddling wife!
