Chapter 691 - 690 - Murder of Immortals

Chapter 691 - 690 - Murder of Immortals

Lind's warning was not taken seriously by all but the Immortals of the Alliance did.  They reinforced the defenses on the Line as best they could but the reality shocked all.

It was like all previous attacks had simply been tempering exercises for all sides.  The Fiends rolled over the walls that had withstood so many attacks before as if they were paper!

The soldiers and mercenaries were slaughtered like they were simply children and the true terror of a Shard Tier Fiend became apparent as reports flooded all powers of how the Immortal Fiends were wiping out all their forces in mere days!

What had been a slow defeat had once more become a flood of death and blood!

The only difference was rather than a single point of attack, the entire defense line shattered.  Moebius Sect tried to supply elixirs and artifacts but it was too soon after the last attack.

Lind had no time to relay anything in a quantity that would be useful.

Other Immortals rushed to slow them down but the Sliver Tiers were not much better than Heaven Realms in front of Zerod.

He was a God of Death as he spearheaded a force of nearly a million strong Fiends but there were others also entering other points of attack.

There were no prisoners anymore, they simply killed all before them like wheat being harvested from the fields!

"This is insanity.  Won't they suffer due to their own actions?"  Carla stared at the reports as she favored her left side.  Her injuries were recent but she was sitting in a meeting with others as many plans were being made to try and slow the Fiends down.

"They do not seem to care anymore.  Frankly, it is refreshing as it makes things a lot simpler."  Jorn was missing an arm but he already had a demonic elixir to resolve the issue flowing in his meridians.

Neither was sure if he would have time to grow it back before the next battle.  They had barely lived from the last fight, but then that was extremely lucky for the current days.

"Why are they moving towards the Moebius Sect so single mindedly when there are other targets they could hit on the way?"  Jorn's question made Carla slowly nod, yet she suspected the truth.

The Fiends were coming for the Moebius Sect due to something Lind Frey had done.  Too many attempts made it clear they viewed him as a threat but none knew why.  The location he was at was too far from any spy or other scout to confirm but many rumors had begun to spread.

He was supposedly close to arriving and it seemed the Fiends were intent on stopping it.  But why?  Why were they afraid of a single person to such an extent?

Even Valkyrie, the current number one in the Alliance among Immortals, did not get such treatment.

Both were contemplating what was the point when a man came sprinting in.  The current healer was at a bed farther down but her aura flared until she saw the star terror on the man's face.

"Th–th—the Citadel of Light and Asura Sect have fallen!"  Carla and Jorn felt their hearts go cold.  If there was any powerful group that had the most Immortal Realm cultivators aligned to battle, it was those 2 powers.

They were basically non-existent in the political scenes, much like Jorn's sect, but on the battlefield they were legendary.

If not for the more eye-drawing members like the Maidens or Divine Sword Sect, they would likely be supreme powers long ago by reputation alone.

"Sigh, it is bad but we will take in the survivors.  I will begin–"  The man then grabbed the healer by her pale green robes which was shocking to all.  He was only a Sky Realm while she was a peak Moon Tier.

It was a massive amount of disrespect to her station and cultivation realm.

"THERE ARE NO SURVIVORS!  A FIEND GOD KILLED THEM ALL WITH BALE LIGHTNING!!!"  The hysterical man began to have Qi deviation right in front of them!  His Sky Core was unraveling right in front of them.

A figure blurred passed all the beds before a delicate hand chopped him at the neck.  The man collapsed into the peerless beauty of Lady Qing!

"Quite enough is going on that we don't need that.  Take him."  There were 2 Heaven Realm aether beasts in human form with her that easily took the man away.  They still had some of the scales and fur to show what they were as they were only at the Star Tier.

The room was dead silent but Qing quickly took over as the healer was nearly collapsed at the news.

"By the spirits, how many Immortals did they have between them?"  Jorn mumbled but Carla answered easily.

"The Citadel of light had nearly 40 Sliver Tiers and were rumored to have a barely alive Shard Tier as a last resort.  The Asura Sect I think had the most Immortals of any power save the Heavenly Maiden Sect at 70.  Any Shard Tier would have long since come to the battlefield as they know nothing of waiting to strike."  Her face was pale and nearly blank but then she saw something stunning once more.

"Little Carla should not overexert yourself even mentally in your state.  You will hamper your recovery."  Qing came to them as she finished attending to the others.  Jorn bowed low but she frowned at his missing arm.  "I believe I told you more than once to stop being reckless."

Her cold tone made the demon break out into a sweat but Carla simply felt numb to such a shocking scene.

"Lady Qing, is there any hope left?  Is this the end?"  The loss of so many Immortals was not normal at all.  It was not unheard of for 10 or even 20 to die, but 110?!  Immortals did not grow on trees!

Such experienced battlemasters were also hard to come by in such numbers.  Without those 2 groups, the remaining powers would be hard pressed to even slow down the Fiend Immortals.

"There is always hope.  I have seen more than once someone turn around an impossible situation when all was lost.  I have even seen someone walk between life and death where no one dared to bet on life, but came back.  After all I have seen, I will believe until the end there is a way to live."  Qing looked down at them both and her bright blonde hair seemed to light up like an aura around her beautiful face.

"Ha!  So long as there is breath, there is a chance!  I like it!"  Jorn went to stand up but was then unceremoniously flung onto a bed.  No one had seen the sequence but Qing was now smiling coldly down at him.

"Indeed, there is, but only if you follow your healer's orders.  Now, be good and stay in bed!"  All the patients silently swore to never make that woman mad for any reason!

Qing then bowed and left the ward but her words made Carla actually regain color.  She knew death could still come but giving in before even trying to fight was a sure death.  She laid back also as she did not want to get scolded either.

No one paid attention to Jorn as he was somehow strapped to his bed against his will.  It was best not to ask how that happened.

Qing dropped her confidence once she was alone.  It was easier to put on a brave face to patients.  She had watched far too many die in her long life to heart demons and fatal injuries to not grasp the fine art of bedside manner.

Sometimes, a healer had to grin and bare the horrific reality of life and death.

A set of arms gently embraced her from behind.  Qing smiled as she put her own hands to the pair clasped around her waist.

"I was never so glad you were checking the Gate of Heaven as when that damned attack started Shoti."  The battledress was stained with blood but none of it was the owner's.  Shoti looked exhausted but she smiled for Qing.

"Ethry is ok too.  She got those villagers out of the way just in time.  We are trying so hard but those damned monsters are suddenly invincible.  It is like they fear nothing all of a sudden."  Her words were true.

Qing had never seen so many crippled and maimed cultivators since they ascended.  Even the vicious battles to advance the Line from the Fiends never had such results.  It was different this time.

"What do you think he did to make them so mad?"  Shoti's question made Qing smile for real.

"Oh, I am sure he gave them a few lectures on the relationship between elements and how if you just listen to him go on about it for a few days, it will all make sense."  Both giggled at the early memories of Lind immersed in research and being excited to explain what he grasped.

They loved him deeply but it tested patience when he went into too much detail more than once!

Still, both would have traded any power at that moment to hear such a lecture in the safety of the Heavenly Maiden Sect on the Sarth Continent.

It was nearly 2000 years ago but it seemed like yesterday too.

"Kora and Tal got up to some antics but that was nothing compared to Little Fey."  Despite Fey jumping ahead, she insisted to remain 'Little' to them.

Qing frowned as she was afraid.  All Immortals seemed to be targets but Fey was from the Moebius Sect and an Immortal.  It was like she was begging for the Fiends to go after her!

"I want this damned war to be over, or at least to run away.  How can they live like this?"  Qing was tired but before Shoti could answer, blood spurted from her mouth.

Qing was shocked but before she could pull an elixir, she instinctively ducked.  A pair of black short swords swung over her head to slice a Fiend in two that was behind Shoti!

When did it get there?!

"HEAL HER!"  Cyntilla's voice snapped Qing out of it as she administered a glowing elixir.  It was low grade 7!  She took no chances with Shoti's life!  The elixir almost seemed to suck the blood back into her body before she snapped awake.

"DAMNED SNEAK ATTACK!"  Her first words made Qing weep as she hugged her tight.

"We have no time, the Fiends are here!"  Qing nodded as she put her grim visage back on but she heard the roar of a dragon and the cry of a roc!  She was far from alone!
