Eternal Emerald Dragon

Chapter 675 - 674 - Sacrifices

Chapter 675 - 674 - Sacrifices

The border of the Law Binding was a strange place but Lind had been slammed into it long ago so he found it almost nostalgic to be near the distorted air.  Others were less comfortable which he noted but Linghu was in contact with them to guide them to their current spot.

Lanbao had carried Lind as during the journey he had suffered several near blackouts.  Even as they neared it, it only got worse until it suddenly stopped.

Strangely, Lind felt like he was understanding his harmony a bit better as they got closer to the border.  He slowly understood the Law Binding was retaliating using his Law as the center of the response.

Now, he stood in front of the distortion.

"You can see how powerful a Law Binding is up close.  Even I have issues being this near to it."  Lanbao was indeed churning more Qi than normal but Lind felt no need.  As he recalled, he also felt nothing when he hit the ceiling of the Law Binding all those centuries ago.

He saw the Emerald Souls could not advance which made him curious.

Why was he able to slam into it so long ago without any discomfort but even an Immortal Realm like Lanbao was disturbed?

He then reached out and touched the Law Binding.  He saw her flinch but then her azure eyes went wide in shock.  The firm surface was as he recalled but now there was a dance of emerald light at his fingers.

His sun resonated with it but Lind felt a firm wall between his mind and really touching on the Law that was part of him.  It was clear that while the Law Binding could extract his Law to use, he still could not truly see it.

Still, shock filled him as he realized his senses now expanded past the Law Binding!  He could finally see the Heaven Realm beyond it!

He was stunned by what he saw.

Bodies, hundreds of bodies as far as his senses could go.

They were all Fiends but his eyes narrowed as he felt their corpses.  They were not just dead but purified.  Unlike the demons he had done a similar thing to back in the Floating Isles, the Fiends' bodies were ravaged.

It made sense but what shocked him was while some were clearly ravaged down to a cellular level, others were only partially damaged.  He also found the source of his problem.

A few of the bodies seemed to be holding artifacts that gave him an ill feeling as they retained Fiend Qi inside them.  They were still breaking down but something had protected them.

He then felt movement on the horizon and his senses recoiled at the strength he felt.  An Immortal Fiend!

"Still failures.  Some of the artifacts endured but ultimately were shattered as well."  Lind heard the Fiend speak but did not dare try to get closer.

He pulled back even faster but just as he was about to completely retract, he saw a female Fiend stare right at him.

"Zerod!  Something is wrong with the Law Binding!  Look!"  Lind could no longer retract his senses as the far more powerful Immortal aura locked him in place.

The vague figures became clearer.  One was a darkly beautiful Fiend even by their standards, she had to be far above many.  She was also an Immortal but felt weaker than the man next to her.

Lind also felt something familiar in that Fiend.  An alchemist?!

He had been around enough to recognize them on sight but to his knowledge no such profession existed for Fiends.  Where would the materials come from for pills?!

"That is not the Law Binding, at least it is not something part of it.  It almost feels like…"  Zerod suddenly smiled maliciously.  "So, you are in there, aren't you?  You can see outside the Law Binding too, eh?"

Lind felt fear flow through his heart.  The Fiend knew him!  He knew who he was.

"Senior?"  The woman was confused but Zerod held up his hands.

"You hurt us but it seems something we did got your attention.  Why else would you be here?  If the Law Binding was unaffected, you would not even know what we do.  This is good."  Lind tried to break free but he was as effective as an ant trying to stop a landslide.

"You are sacrificing all these just to get back at me?"  Lind spoke but was stunned when Zerod actually sneered at him.  He could hear his voice?!

"You are too soft.  You cultivators simply believe the world will bow down to you and let you simply become Gods unchallenged?  You are just glorified Qi stones for us!  We are the chosen of existence!"  Lind suddenly lost all his fear.

Zerod believed what he said but Lind saw the woman next to him.  She was afraid of something and he expanded his senses as he saw the once clear distortion was now turning emerald more and more.

Lind realized he made them that afraid!  He could not move his aura but his harmony had no restriction at all!

His skin changed to an emerald sheen but that was all as he channeled his harmony into the Law Binding.

On both sides, the reactions were vastly different.

On the inside, Lanbao and the others felt their Qi flow much easier and any bottlenecks seemed to vanish!  They all assumed lotus positions and started to cultivate but the other side was vastly different.

A massive emerald dragon of flesh and blood appeared.  It was not a Sun Tier manifestation, but an Immortal Realm one!  It was no longer ephemeral but a true dragon!

The sky rumbled and Zerod had all the blood drain from his face.  How?!

[You were saying you were the chosen.  Chosen by who?  Heaven rejects you as I have seen so who chose you?  There are no Fiend resources anywhere in the Heaven or mortal realms so explain to me, how you are chosen.]

Lind's voice broke the control on his aura at last.  It felt damned odd that his harmony was able to manifest via the Law Binding at the Immortal Realm.  It looked and felt impressive but he could not keep it going for long!

His Qi was nearly gone after such a short conversation!

Still, he had to do one thing before he pulled back.

The dragon opened its mouth and the glow of fire sent the woman running while Zerod stood there frozen.  Lind gave him credit for not running but he was not Lind's concern.

The emerald flames began to glow with a golden aura but it was not karmic Qi that time.  It was a trace of Celestial Qi.  The instant it touched the corpses, they began to vanish from the world!

Zerod stumbled back in true fear then.  He could not understand what was happening because the emerald Qi destroyed his ability to sense that far!  The strange Qi turned all the artifacts and corpses into dust!

They became useless!  All those sacrifices were useless to his research!

The massive dragon began to disperse but he could not grasp it as his Qi burned to touch it!  He did not dare keep the connection after what happened in the last battle.

How?!  How was an ant able to do these things?!

Zerod did not understand how a single cultivator could defy them at every turn so effectively!

"Great One!  Have you abandoned us?!"  Lind's eyes narrowed at those words and committed them to memory.

He doubted that was a random invocation like the calling to spirits seemed to be.  Heaven and Earth were too big to be taken as a single being but that Fiend just implored such a creature for an explanation.

Lind understood he had a new lead about the Fiends and would scour to find more.  Still, he broke his connection and lost his access to the outside world.  He was about to turn around when the feeling of danger suddenly increased right in front of him!

Vile black Qi stained the distortion and he recognized that power!

It was Zerod!

[YOU WILL DIE!]  The Fiend knew he was weak at that moment!  An Immortal attack at the Shard Tier might be enough to pierce it when he was so close!

A massive azure claw slammed into the attack.

A scream of pain unlike any he had ever heard deafened him but he kept his bleeding eyes open as he saw Lanbao's arm wither and die!

"NO!"  Lind refused to let her die and the Law Binding responded. Emerald lightning sliced her arm off at the shoulder but vile traces were still there!

Zerod was too powerful!

Her face was twisted in pain as sweat quickly covered her.  Still, the Fiend clearly lost his chance to kill Lind as the Law Binding was now reverberating with some kind of counter attack.

Lanbao began to lose her vitality as the Fiend Qi ate away at her.  Lind knew a Shard Tier was powerful but seeing the once invincible Lanbao brought low so easily made it real how terrifying the Fiends could be.

"You are not allowed to die.  I will not allow it!"  Rage flowed in Lind's body as he did something he swore he would not do without permission but the moment left him know choice.

He cut his arm and let his blood gather as he purified it.  He had to remove all traces of humanity and his sun churned as his soul responded.

The blood became as emerald as his scales and he let it drop into her now wrinkled visage.  Her life was fading as the blood flowed into her mouth.

At that moment the world shifted as the Heavens swiftly descended.  Lind had no idea what was going on but the world then went black as all the Qi was taken from him in an instant!  He collapsed but barely felt arms catch him as voices began to shout to get Linghu or Shi quickly.
