Chapter 673 - 672 - Deep Wounds
Chapter 673 - 672 - Deep Wounds
The Fiends had suffered more losses than expected in their forward advance. The harmonic Qi was devastating the same as the Law Binding if less powerful. It secured the threat of 6 elementals in their minds as it was not the only harmony that caused them issues.
However, the rank and file were unaware of the true danger of the emerald version that only Zerod was learning of at that moment.
Mycea, one of the most powerful Immortals next to him and the Widow, was sweating while trying to purge the emerald Qi in her body! She was only hanging on because she was at the peak of the Sliver Tier, yet her voluptuous body was withering before his eyes!
It dealt with the fact she had created her body over time compared to simply extending her life. He had seen a few Immortals think they were safe behind the barriers they created, but the flow of Fiend Qi was like a snack to the damned harmony Qi!
A few had cut it off in time, but Mycea had not. She had been in charge of that front while Zerod had tried to take out the Moebius Sect. Valkyrie had been there as if she expected them. He had hoped to at least walk away with her death, but it seemed Moebius Sect had grade 7 healers!
Those were always high priority targets but the resources needed to get at it had twice been consumed with no success.
Zerod tried his pills but nothing worked! Mycea was wasting away despite her power!
"How is that possible?" Widow had come up behind him but there was no snide tone nor arrogance in her voice. There were 3 other Immortals that had died simply due to exposure to the harmonic Qi.
"It is like our Qi is fuel to it. She might yet make it but she will be basically crippled until she can consume another Immortal Realm. Do we have any prisoners?" Widow nodded and sent a message to bring some over.
"The others are dead but their bodies are now pristine. If his weaker Qi can do this, what can he do now?" Both felt a chill down their spine. They were running out of time. Rumors and spies had revealed Lind Frey had spoken of returning via some kind of communication jade stone.
If that was in any way true, they had to stop it. Isolated in the Law Binding was much preferred to such a dangerous man being loose!
"There have to be countermeasures we can take but it will take many sacrifices." The both looked on as Mycea struggled before finally the wriggling body stopped. She still breathed!
"Bring in the resources!" Zerod's shout was followed by 3 Immortals brought in that were trying to struggle against black leg irons and handcuffs. They saw the wounded Fiend and understood they had to fight even more.
"ENOUGH!" Zerod lay Mycea down in the center of a Fiend weaving that then glowed as the 3 Immortals were placed at different points. It was very slow to start but the fear in the 3 showed as they realized what was happening to them.
"It affected her ability to absorb too." Widow spoke as the process that normally could end in moments was moving very slowly. It only made it worse for the cultivators but eventually their bodies withered to nothing as gentle blue energy mixed with elemental Qi was pulled towards Mycea.
Her flesh recovered to a point but it was far below her peak condition. Still, it was better and they carefully observed her until it was clear she was stable.
"That is far more than it should take for her to fully recover, is there something lingering?" Widow's question was critical but Zerod shook his head as he could find no traces of the harmonic Qi.
What he did find was over half her body was purified back to natural Qi. It was only as it converted back to Fiend Qi that the flesh recovered.
"She has to convert her own flesh while she heals. This is troublesome." He began to make notes and planned experiments in the future.
Of all the Immortals exposed, Mycea was the only survivor and her condition left her out of future fights indefinitely.
"We cannot allow that any to return. His items were enough to do this much damage, what will the man himself be capable of?" Widow spoke but for the first time there was real fear in her voice.
Their victory had been a certainty for so long. It had simply been a matter of time and patience but now the 6 elementals had proven far more dangerous to them than any other cultivator.
Those results made many powers delve into the nearby mortal realms and spread the teachings of Lind Frey to raise up a generation of powerful cultivators.
In a mere millennium their forces had faced one stumbling block after another before they had to retreat! Even now, their near overwhelming might had been brought to its knees by a far weaker set of artifacts!
Such humiliation must be crushed!
Zerod suddenly lit up and hugged Widow. Such a reaction caught not only her but all nearby off guard. Zerod was not known for such an expressive action.
"The Law Binding! We can test techniques against the very defense he hides behind!" Widow's face cleared but then frowned. It meant sacrifices, a lot of sacrifices. Fiends were not like other cultivators.
They had numbers now, but if too many died, it would take a very long time to recover.
Even Soul Realms were precious.
"We need victory or this will keep happening. A few deaths now or more defeats, which do you all prefer?" Zerod's harsh words left no doubt in anyone's minds. They could not suffer yet another defeat due to Lind Frey.
The wounds he had left in their minds were far worse than any deaths. If they did not find a way to overcome them, the war would shift against them and they would lose their precious resources!

"How many are dead?" A woman in bandages sat at her desk in defiance of all her healer's advice. Her once valiant form was now missing an arm and part of a leg. Given time, an Immortal can restore their bodies but it took vast resources to do so.
"It would have been far more if not for the efforts of the Moebius Sect and the demons. Still, we lost at least 10 Immortals, some of which could not be recovered. Heaven Realms were in the thousands." Romana was wrapped up as well but her body was intact.
Her unique skill set helped her survive but it was not easy.
"Indeed, it seems the boy continues to earn favors even when he is trapped." Valkyrie could still feel the residue of elixir in her body as her own Qi and Laws helped her recover. She was still years away from her peak but if she got another elixir, it could speed it up massively.
No one knew how Lind Frey got the elixirs out but all knew it meant his old promise of getting out of wherever he was could happen anytime.
"The Fiends also took massive injuries but no one seems to understand why. They have always been weaker to harmonic attacks but for some reason, Lind Frey's harmony is far more devastating." Valkyrie's eyes narrowed but she had no questions to even raise at the report.
"How much damage?" She was expecting to hear that Heaven Realms had been hit but shock flooded her with the next words from Romana.
"At least 3 Immortal Fiends were witnessed to collapse and die. There was no sign of their souls escaping either." A grade 6 artifact KILLED Immortal Fiends?!
Wrecking a body is still relatively easy if someone can catch an Immortal off guard, but literally killing them was much more difficult.
Immortals, as part of their comprehending the Laws, also could survive without their bodies.
What Romana was describing was nearly impossible to pull off by an Immortal let alone a Heaven Realm!
Just what was Lind Frey's harmony?
As time passed, many understood the colors were not exactly random. Shades of red could be battle focused harmonies to emotional readers in that same spectrum. Some of them seemed to have the ability to read people like open books in that sense.
Shades of blue would be powerful healers with Qi skills or Arts to a horrifying level of control over conjuring attacks.
The variety was all over but the rarer colors were terrifying. There was a demoness who had a black harmony that was terrifying in battle against anyone in the same Tier.
Lind Frey was the only emerald colored harmony she knew of but its effects on Fiends was much more powerful than the rest. Why?
Why did a man who was more like a scholar seem able to devastate his enemies so easily?
Valkyrie did not know the full truth but she knew they had to find out and hopefully transform it into weapons or armor they can use to finally strike blows to the Fiends.
"Let me know when the boy returns. I am going to give in to the healers before they come to kidnap me." She floated up and left Romana looking shocked. Did the Sect Master of the Heavenly Maiden Sect finally forgive Lind Frey?
She could only hope for the future and that they would recover before the Fiends. The new defensive line was being shored up and soldiers were being treated as fast as possible. She sent a prayer to the spirits that Lind Frey could return soon as well and went off to relay her next set of orders.
