Chapter 642 - 641 - Alliance is Alerted
Chapter 642 - 641 - Alliance is Alerted
"What is the point of having a meeting right now? Didn't we just meet about the Void Cliff defense?" A well built man with a bald head walked down a simple but profound stone corridor with a slim woman next to him.
His tan and reddish robes had a set of beads hanging from them. Any that saw him would think the word 'monk,' but the dangerous aura left no illusion he was a man of peace.
Buddhists were not uncommon in the Heaven Realm but they did not stand aside in the war against the Fiends. There were still a range of positions each sect held but the most powerful was Infinite Combinations Sect.
They held the premise that the universe gave birth to all and all life has the right to exist. As that conflicted with the Fiends, the sect fought them tooth and nail. They were well respected for the most part but those organizations that wanted aether children and demons expunged or enslaved often butted heads with them.
The slim woman was in pale blue silk robes yet like the monk, had the aura of a seasoned warrior.
Her dark skin was appealing to all as her narrow face looked well with her dark eyes and thick black hair tied back into a ponytail. She had several items hanging from her waist like daggers and some artifacts.
The monk was a clear physical fighter while she was a conjurer.
"Elias, you never know how things could shift with new information. Something may have happened at the Void Cliff or perhaps there was an unexpected force found in the south by the Fire Pools." Elias nodded as it was possible but he was still irritated.
"Why did we have to physically come in then? A simple message by jade or messenger would be fine." The woman nodded but then frowned.
"Perhaps it is sensitive information. Who called the meeting this time?" Elias thought for a moment but then shrugged.
"It does not matter, Lady Carla. I doubt it was Hellfire Sect since they do not care about anything save the war. They would just head out and expect us all to follow." She nodded as that was likely but very few in the Alliance could call the kind of meeting they were going to.
"You 2 remain amazingly ignorant. You need to keep an ear to the ground or you will end up dead someday." A new voice came from a side hall they were coming up on as a demon appeared.
Elias smiled and bowed but Carla frowned. She even moved to the other side of Elias who sighed before continuing to move forward.
The demon looked amused at Carla but bowed back respectfully to Elias. The action seemed to annoy Carla.
"Jorn, why did Heartpiercer Sect send you?" Elias was honestly curious as the demonic sect was just shy of berserkers in their style of cultivation. They happily dove into battle but on the flip side they also celebrated just short of animals afterwards.
Sex and alcohol were the least of the ingredients for their gatherings. It was said that they had killed a Sliver Tier Fiend at one battle and the entire sect had become hedonists for a week!
Elias never knew the truth and few would ask about such a thing, but it was unusual for them to send a member to a meeting.
Jorn had on excellent battle shorts made of leather and chainmail but had his chest exposed with a massive mace strapped to his back.
The getup allowed complete freedom of movement while clearly showing the demon was a body cultivator. His primary element was nearly 100% metal with possibly shadow mixed in. The other elements were there but no one saw them use anything else.
Just like earth in regular cultivators, primary metal demons had bodies harder than any steel if developed properly but it was a long and painful process to do it. The Heartpiercer Sect had a technique that was effective but brutal by anyone's standards.
"Ha! They sent me because we are interested in the meeting. Why else?" His answer confused the pair but the trio entered the main hall where other cultivators were mingling as they waited to enter the meeting hall.
Elias saw a few fellow monks and bowed before making his way over. Monks never missed a chance to catch up. Carla knew Elias saw it as a way to compete and motivate himself to continue on his path as he was at the peak of the Sun Tier.
The step to Immortal Realm was very difficult but she was about to move off when a firm crip had her arm.
She was about to glare at Jorn but saw a serious look on his face for the first time in the 3000 years she had known him.
"I know you have an issue with how things went with your brother, but I am not kidding when I say this. He died well and his last words were to wish you a good life." Anger surged in Carla but then she saw Jorn look behind her with such a serious look she could only turn before shock flooded her.
There was a group the Alliance had been trying to rope in for the last millennium but they had stood firmly outside yet still sending highly desired support items. Elixirs were at an all time high and quality was stunning.
Forging had begun to boom and weaving, a hit or miss profession, had become consistent and powerful like in the legends of old.
All 3 professions were currently heavily sourced by the Moebius Sect. Many groups had at first felt threatened they would corner the trade of all 3 but instead the sect went out of its way to work with existing supply chains and markets.
The merchants had been thrilled and the profits flowed back to the sect to obvious results. They had improved their facilities but as time passed a few policies rubbed people the wrong way.
The main one being open to all races. Very few sects or powers had such a policy. They could be allies against the Fiends but being all under a single authority was not something many liked.
Again, the Moebius Sect ignored them but did not poach any geniuses that had expressed interest. To go to the Moebius Sect had one requirement that put most off, they had to leave the Alliance.
Now, 3 women stood not far from Carla and Jorn with the twisted strip on the right breast of their robes. They had 1 gold and 2 black for the symbols. Carla was not sure, but Jorn spoke up.
"Gold is Vice-Sect Master while black denotes an elder. If I am not mistaken, that is Lady Qing with that blonde hair and likely elders from her Healing Hall." It was also something the Heavenly Maiden Sect was irked about.
They had lost 4 promising members to the Moebius Sect but it was their actions that made it happen. Further, while some reconciliation had happened, none of them had returned.
"Why are they here?" In the centuries since its founding in the Heaven Realm, they had never shown up at any meeting no matter how critical. They in fact refused to and simply kept up their supply of crafted items.
"That is why I am here. Supposedly, they have heard from Lind Frey." Carla slowly turned to Jorn and looked at him in confusion but he said nothing else. If the Heartpiercer Sect wanted to reach out to Moebius Sect they could but to her knowledge they never had.
She wanted to ask more but the massive double doors opened as a chime began to sound. It was an answer to one of the questions people had about the meeting. If it was a critical war meeting, the chime would be a horn.
It was a simple system to let everyone know the meeting was about important but non-war issues. If the Moebius Sect had found Lind Frey, that was something the entire Alliance wanted to know about.
Carla moved to her seat about midway from the top. Her power was only in the middling level of the Alliance but some powers sat there as a matter of pride while she could only look down to the greater powers.
The highest row was full of Star Tiers and some peak Sky Realms but as one descended it quickly reached the Moon Tier and finally Sun Tiers until the last row.
That row was Sliver Tier Immortal Realms without exception. They were all from the peak powers but some chairs were empty. It was not a matter of disrespect but simply that those powers existed and had no one to spare.
Carla felt some pride to know that the last row had once been half empty all the time but now it was ⅔ full. It showed that their position in the war was improving at long last.
A woman in pristine white robes appeared on the dias at the center of all the seats which made silence descend. A demoness in black and crimson robes then joined her which had some murmuring as it indicated both the Maidens and Hellfire called the meeting.
"Thank you all for coming. We will not waste time. Would the representatives of the Moebius Sect please come forth?" The last few words made the crowd actually stir but the 3 women flew down and landed on the dias. The blonde in the lead bowed to both members of the supreme sects.
"I have come at the request of an old friend. Lady Romana was most insistent you wanted to speak with us." The previously settling audience now became pindrop silent. Lady Qing had just made it clear she was only there because a friend asked.
In other words, the Moebius Sect had not moved because of the official request.
Carla felt her breath catch in her throat but then the reactions of the Maiden and Hellfire were very different. The Maiden frowned deeply while the demoness smiled wide.
"You were–" The Maiden tried to speak but then a jade stone was placed on the ground. All were curious as to what was happening when it flared with Moon Tier quality Qi.
A few motes of regular elements gathered until all 6 kinds flowed in to make a projection of a fit and handsome man appeared. He had full color as well!
He had dark hair with emerald streaks and crimson robes. His vibrantly emerald eyes drew Carla in but she felt he looked tired.
"If, as I suspect, the Alliance gets a bit tetchy about my successful contact with my wives, I have left this message for them to deliver however they see fit." He then seemed to smile in a way that sent chills up Carla's spine.
"Kindly leave my family alone. I will return no matter what. Before that day comes, I have nothing to discuss with any of you. Everyone have a good day that is listening. Oh, and before I forget, I am at the peak of the Moon Tier with an Immortal flood dragon helping me figure things out. So, who knows how strong I will be when I return." The dismissive attitude made Carla shiver at his audacity but a familiar voice suddenly broke out in laughter.
"Excellent! Truly excellent! Lady Qing, the Heartpiercer Sect will keep the busy bodies out! We all have better things to do, after all!" Jorn stood up and his affiliation surprised many but the Maiden was now clearly angry while Qing and the Hellfire demoness were surprised.
"We welcome your assistance. Please send a message if you have any issues that need attention." Qing smiled wide which made her beauty catch them all off guard once more. The 3 left then before anyone could blink.
Carla felt a cold sweat break out but the Hellfire demoness seemed to restrain her counterpart from any foolish action. The message was clear.
Moebius Sect would not alter the deal nor did they want to be bothered any further.
