Chapter 618 - 617 - It is not paranoia when they are really after you!
Chapter 618 - 617 - It is not paranoia when they are really after you!
Lind confirmed Kin was all right with no sign of Qi deviation nor pre-mature heart demon but Qing was far better at such a diagnosis.
Still, she seemed fairly resilient compared to when he was her age.
He turned and found a small group had gathered but before anyone could speak, Lind flexed his dragonic aura. He could not transform as he had to recover, but his aura was intact.
"We have no time. The Fiend knows Aiden helped us escape and likely about this cavern. We have to leave, now." A few looked disgruntled but his power was far above them. The strongest Lind felt was a Sky Realm tier 7.
"I am not taking over, I am simply telling you, we cannot stay. The Fiend is a peak Sun Tier as you must know and he commands a brainwashed army. They will not fear or stop until he can find us and kill us. I assume you share our fate?" The few humans around nodded but still frowned at him.
"Lind, if they are anything like Requera, they will monitor rebels until they are ready to strike. They will then hit all the bases at once." A shock flooded through them that made Lind's eyes narrow.
"Some people have been captured or missing over the centuries?" That time more nodded and looked pale. "Then we have to go, now."
"You sound like a scared little boy to me!" A voice broke through and the crowd seemed to shift against him suddenly. A well muscled man came from the back with a scar along the length of his left arm. It still worked but Lind noticed it was stiff.
Lind snarled internally but looked at the new arrival.
"I take it you are in charge?" Lind saw the way the other humans aligned around the new arrival. They clearly saw him as such.
"I am one of them, yes. If Aiden died getting you here, that was his choice, but you have no say here." The large man had fine leather armor that was inscribed with grade 6 quality from what Lind could see. "I am Yun."
Lind could see the man had no respect for his opinion but Lind did not care. Time was slipping away and he did not want to get cornered by a massive number of Moon and Sun Tiers.
"If you think paranoia is an over reaction, you have clearly not dealt with Fiends much." Lind felt a spike in Qi from Yun but before they could get too far, screams came from the tunnels leading to the cavern.
Bleeding people came running in but at most it was only 20 or 25.
"What is going on? Has a beast tide come?" Yun was calm but then more screams and wails came from the caverns.
That time the people were heavily injured and missing limbs as they were carried by other bloody people.
"The window is closing. The noose is tightening." Lind spoke and many in the group now seemed to consider his words but Yun clearly sneered.
"If you want to be a coward, then flee, but we will fight for our freedom!" Yun flared fire, darkness, and earth Qi. It was a powerful and effective combination but clearly he was an idiot.
"I will not let you get these people killed for your stubborn pride! You are a Sky Realm, I am a Moon Tier. How many Heaven Realm are in your camp right now?" For the first time, Yun looked cautious but then dismissed Lind as he turned to find out what was going on.
Lind already knew.
[They are monsters! They feel no pain and just keep coming!]
[M-my family was taken away!]
[Spirits please show us some mercy! I don't want to die!]
Various phrases came from them but Lind could only pick that much out while Lili looked pale at the chaos.
"Lind, we should go. They won't listen to us." Lind knew she was right but one glance at the sleeping Kin and what Aiden sacrificed chose his path.
A simple black cylinder appeared in his hands.
"They are coming, but it is the puppets. They have made an error." Lili looked at him oddly but then saw him assume a lotus position and begin to cultivate!
"Those people could not have gotten far in those states! The enemy is not far!" Lili screamed at Lind but he ignored her as he down an swirling elixir of all 6 elemental colors. She was long used to it but Yun finally froze in shock.
"Lifemancer!" The title traveled quickly but Lili was long used to Lind. She suddenly recalled, however, how legendary such a being was. Yet, Yun seemed not to look at Lind that way.
"Coward! Get over here and help the injured! That is your only purpose!" Lili looked at the hulking man as if he was the dumbest thing alive. He was only a Sky Realm and spoke to a Moon Tier that could crush him with a finger like that?!
"Yun, he is a Lifemancer! We can win easily now!" Lili was confused by what one of the old men suddenly said. She did not understand what one had to do with the other. Lind acted as if he was alone and continued to cultivate.
She could sense his Qi was stabilizing from the backlash but why was he bothering. Most of the puppets they had seen were far weaker than both of them.
"Eh? Stop ignoring me, coward and give us all the elixirs you have!" Yun summoned a glaive but before he could even assume a position, the black cylinder floated up and emerald spikes appeared.
It spun at a high speed and diced up the glaive into kindling! Lili felt a cold sweat break out on her back as she knew what she was seeing.
A spirit weapon! A peak grade 6 one at that!
Not only that, a strange man of dark skin also appeared.
"You should heed my master if you truly want these people to live. He is far too kind to force the issue but you spurn his good will. He is recovering and we will not let you interfere." Lili felt her knees weaken.
Lind had 2 spirit treasures on him! Just what kind of being had her empires angered?!
In the whole of the 6 empires there was only 1 spirit treasure she knew of and it had been dormant since Suzen vanished!
She realized she had no idea of the depth of Lind's resources just as an individual let alone as an Emperor.
Still, she saw stupidity had no bottom in the next moment.
"Kill that man and get a slave collar for the Lifemancer! We need to get the wounded treated and prepare to initiate the rebellion. Aiden gave his life to open the way!" Lili stared in shock at the man.
What was going through his head?
"S-start the rebellion? Yun, we are not ready and those people are the only survivors of the nearby camps. If they found those, the others have likely fallen. We can't beat–" Yun slapped the old man to the ground in a rage.
"Do not defy me! I am in charge now!" Lili finally grasped the issue. Yun had been below Aiden. He was likely good at gathering people but did not really understand the true situation they were in.
Aiden had been a restraint on Yun or maybe had simply used Yun as a good leader of the camp with the tear in it as they needed someone combat ready at a moment's notice.
She calmed at last as she grasped her sword and her Sun Tier aura flared.
"ENOUGH! You will desist or you will die." Her eyes were cold as Yun sneered at her. He knew no fear. It was not a bad thing to overcome fear but he clearly wanted to be the hero and did not care how many died to make it happen.
He was the worst person to lead a group.
"Kill he–" Yun was grabbing a spear from one of the young men nearby when he was cleaved in 2. He looked shocked on each side of his face as blood flew into the air. The others could not even react to Lili's simple attack.
"I am one person at the Sun Tier and could flatten this entire camp without even half a day to spare. Does anyone else want to die?" Her ice cold tone and bloody sword terrified them all.
She had not a drop of blood on herself which made her more fearsome.
"My master would rather you have not done that, Soulmancer." The dark man spoke the exact wrong word at that moment.
The instant that word was spoken, dark looks passed over the crowd and she turned to him but he simply shrugged.
"They will have bigger concerns shortly. Besides, you are my master's prisoner for the last 15 years and still are." Once more his words were a bomb that made all swivel to the cultivating Lind.
He had not moved the entire time yet now Lili felt shocked once more. The weapon spirit's reaction to defend Lind was within her expectation but its level of thoughts would be simple.
The spirit in the shape of a man was far more intelligent! That was well above grade 6 to her knowledge!
"Ah, it seems my time is up. The Qi here is far too thin! Master needs to hurry up and become an Immortal!" That shocking statement left all floored as the man vanished into the very air.
"Far too impatient for a ring but I agree. I am too weak." Lind finally opened his eyes as all of them felt a presence in their tunnels. "We are out of time. Get the injured to the center. I will do what I can to buy time. Lili, watch over Kin."
No one argued as the shift in his aura came with emerald scales and increase in size.
"I will be right back." The sinuous dragon flew up and moved across the large cavern towards the sounds of battle. Lili realized that the war in Dar suddenly had something missing. She had heard of some of Lind fighting but he seemed different now.
What was about to happen in Orwellia Empire?
