Chapter 521 - 520 - Moebius Competition
Chapter 521 - 520 - Moebius Competition
The Moebius Sect felt smaller with all the Star Tiers gone. There were still a handful in the sect but the number of peak Sky Realms was immense.
Lind was back in his office as he had a different idea how to get through not only his bottleneck but help a vast array of other production masters. He had the largest part of his consignment sent by Lady Estelle and was looking at maps.
"You seem to be more energized." Kexin suddenly spoke up as she entered the room. He smiled up at her as a few more elders followed behind her.
"I think it's time we give back to the Floating Isles." The various elders looked confused as there was a regular trade between Moebius Sect and Starfire House already to supply elixirs, Forged items and normal cultivation resources.
"What do you mean, Sect Master?" Some of the Elders were new to the sect in that they came while Lind was gone, but now that he returned, some wondered if he could truly run the sect as prosperously as before.
"Simple, we are going to host a tournament of the best production masters. All fields. Talisman masters, formation masters, and all the rest. We will also put on lectures for part of the competition from our derivative masters and let our own disciples show off as well." Some faces brightened but a few frowned.
"While that is not a bad idea, where would we even hold such an event?" Wild Heart Isle was an untamed wilderness over 99% of it. Hosting such a competition required not only an arena to actually have the event but facilities to house their respective guardians and to rest between entries.
They also needed to have rewards, resources to be used in events, and food with drinks to enjoy while watching or resting as well.
It was a massive endeavor but Lind merely smiled and waved his hands. Jade slips stopped in front of each elder.
"The Halls will have 3 levels of disciples to choose slots for. Promising newcomers to show their potential so long as they can reach grade 3. The best mortal grade and finally the best Heaven Grade." Lind kept talking as the elders examined the slips but even Kexin's eyes went wide at the information inside.
It was not simply a vague outline but specific tasks, resource allocation, and deadlines. Some of the concerned elders were now on board but a few still held out and were grumbling at the work that had to be done.
One of them was the Elder of the Treasure Hall.
He was a human that came from the Floating Isles and rose up in the sect as he was a 5 elemental. He had made massive progress to become a tier 9 Sky Realm after struggling for centuries to progress before being recruited.
He had dark gold hair and piercing sea green eyes. He was known to be very strict to how the Treasure Hall was run. He had made it efficient but it was like pulling teeth to get generous rewards approved.
Elders or mission rewards were vetted harshly and he often spoke back to try and lower the loss to the sect.
His name was Varys.
Varys was clearly close to a few elders but even they saw no issues as not a single resource was registered to the treasure hall so they had no argument but Varys wanted to know where such resources outside his control were coming from.
"Sect Master, these are extreme amounts of resources. I know some of these are in our vaults but to the best of knowledge, we do not have over 50% of this." Many elders that knew how Lind worked frowned but Lind just smiled as he then tossed a scroll at Varys.
The nonchalance of his action seemed to rub Varys the wrong way.
"Elder Varys, your slip should have the same notation as ours, the Sect Master is providing everything from his personal storage." Kexin's voice was ice cold but Varys openly sneered at her.
He had a much higher cultivation than her at the moment, only being a 6 elemental demon allowed her to be an Elder in his opinion.
"My point exactly. The Sect Master is making it his personal competition without looking to the future. What if we hold more competitions? How would we fund those?" It was a real concern that was not addressed but Kexin knew Lind very well.
The man was many things, but unprepared was never one of them.
Rather than speak up, however, Lind had a communication jade stone light up on his desk.
"Ah good, they are here." Before the Elders could ask who, they felt a powerful pressure wash over the room. Then 2 voices were heard.
"Found you, Pup!" A Star Tier aether child of light and darkness suddenly swept into the room and hugged Lind hard. He smiled and hugged her back while another Star Tier aether child of fire and earth looked on in exasperation.
"Almost a Moon Tier and you still act like a child!" Huo cursed at Azylea as both wore the silver and azure robes of Elders of Babylon Guild. Varys felt his heart freeze as he suddenly understood what kind of meeting he was attending.
It was not an approval meeting, nor was it one where he could garner benefits. They were being told what was going to happen and it was their job to regulate the disciples and their tasks!
He felt rage flash before both seniors swiveled their eyes at him. Varys felt pressure nearly crush him into his chair before an emerald flame covered his body releasing him.
"He is the elder in charge of the Treasure Hall, thus our expenses. If you had both been on time, the meeting could have proceeded differently." All the elders around the long table were in shock as the 2 Star Tier blushed and looked apologetic to a tier 8 Sky Realm!
Kexin suddenly recalled one of the stories she had heard.
"These are the 2 that certified Moebius Sect?" Realization dawned on all of them as the Elders stood quickly to bow low while the women now smiled wide. Lind noted Varys was still staring daggers at him but his question was valid.
"Did the Guild Leader find my proposal acceptable?" The elders noted Lind's words and some were confused while others perked up. The 2 Star Tiers now became serious as they pulled out a scroll sealed with an aura they all felt.
A soul imprint!
A unique gift unlocked by reaching the Sun Tier!
Lind cut his finger and let his blood touch the seal before the scroll unraveled and he read the contents. A frown crossed his face but then a smile quickly followed.
"I see, well I can accept that." The 2 women were relieved by his words as the elders all wondered what was going on but Varys suddenly found the scroll in his hands!
[Master Frey. Your proposal has great merit. I have relayed your request and it has been met with great interest. Envoys from the respective guilds voted and we will certify your Sect in the Heaven Realm under a condition.]
Varys felt his limbs go numb. The legend of how Lind had the Babylon Guild certify Moebius Sect in the Floating Isles was practically told to children like a bedtime story! Even demons knew of and respected such a bold move from a human!
Now he had gotten the Heaven Realm powers to already set up their new branch?!
He looked up at his Sect Master who nodded for him to continue. The scroll was much longer but he saw what made Lind frown.
[Your request to be independent is not accepted but your power can be made into a support sect. The major difference being your expertise will be under your control. Since elixir masters and Forging is more common here, you will need to negotiate any overlap with existing guilds.]
[However, the design you submitted is unique. I do not think it can be replicated as easily as you suggest so that alone will qualify your sect to stand aside from the usual requirements.]
[A consignment will be expected once your supply lines are set up. For the present, however, your contest suggestion is accepted as a solution to stability issues in your realm. The Babylon Guild will finance the first 100 competitions over the next thousand years.]
Varys nearly collapsed on the spot!
There were more addendums and business stipulations but even he could see they were entirely fair and authenticated by guild seals.
If the Babylon Guild helped to finance the competition, the Moebius Sect would hardly see a dent in day to day operations. Based on the wording, the competition would be held every 100 years!
While such a time was relatively short, it was more than enough to gather resources and let other powers contribute to it as well!
"Do you have any further objects, Elder Varys?" Lind's question was clearly made with the expectation of nothing else and Varys felt his rage slip away as he suddenly had the impression of not a man but a massive beast staring down at him.
"Nothing else, Sect Master." Varys was pale but Kexin suppressed the desire to giggle while the rest of the elders reviewed the contract.
Lind looked on but his eyes went cold as he looked at Varys. While he knew Ethry was a good sect leader for integrating beasts and cultivators, she cared little for the administration. Lysanna also liked efficiency so she put up with the downsides of Varys but Lind looked at the bigger picture.
Cold efficiency could be far more dangerous than well intentioned mistakes. The former could hide a darkness that festered while the latter could be dangerous but at least it could be seen in the open.
He made a point to keep an eye on Varys and the others. Before he could ever leave the Floating Isles, he had to ensure what kind of legacy he left behind.
