Eternal Emerald Dragon

Chapter 512 - 511 - Unexpected Meetings

Chapter 512 - 511 - Unexpected Meetings

Lady Char was displeased to be called away from far more important business in Hellfire Sect but the reactions of the security restrictions of the meeting tower meant she had to go.  Only one of the 3 supreme powers should activate if there was a battle or enemies, so at least she had that to look forward to.

Her practical metal armor was heavily reinforced with arrays and some support artifacts but its dented and scratched state was odd as most cultivators like their appearance to be pristine.  She had no time for such frivolity.

The large scar on her right cheek and across her hairline spoke of the harsh battles she had survived in her 1000 year lifespan.

She was a mid Star Tier but had all the indications of reaching the peak before 500 years had passed.  Still, the annoying requirements of keeping Hellfire Sect in line was far more than expected.

She saw some shifting shadows off to her left but knew it was some of the mangy beasts.  A few were in their natural state but some were in human form.

The more human they appeared, the stronger they would be.  Her gauntleted hand itched to grab her claymore off her back but she resisted as the tower was the priority.

As her group approached, her bright amethyst eyes narrowed to see several Maidens trussed up but alive.  What was strange was they were not marked as part of Lady Chyou's retinue as they should be.

"Check the formations."  One of the demons saluted smartly before running off only to come running back looking grim.  His lavender skin was fairly dark but in the noonday sun it was clear he was angry.

"Someone disabled the ciphers so anyone could use them!"  Char narrowed her eyes before pulling her sword out.  It was massive compared to most but she could cleave enemies as if they were grass around her with it.

It was why she was nicknamed the Cold Reaper.

With no need for words, the ten demons all drew their various weapons and proceeded carefully up the tower.

There were a few more Maidens confined but again, no permanent damage was done to them.  The bindings were made of a material she did not recognize but she ignored them.  She disdained the currently Heavenly Maiden Sect.

If even half the rumors were true, it was going to collapse in the near future.

She suspected traitors from within but the artifacts and techniques to discover Fiend agents made it much harder for them to act, but perhaps the seeds planted were still flourishing even without their masters to water them.

They finally entered the meeting chamber to find the beasts laughing!

They were chatting with a human male sitting on the Maiden throne as if he owned it!  Had the coup come from an external source?!

Char was about to shout when the dark green eyes of the human turned to her.  In that moment all the hairs on her body stood on end!  She had the impression she was looking at a massive beast and not a simple human.

She took in his dirty blonde hair and the 3 badges on his crimson robes before she realized who was sitting there.

"Welcome to the Hellfire Sect.  I had a fruitful meeting with the Heavenly Maiden Sect but the result of it will take some time to come to pass.  Since you were already coming, I decided to wait."  There was no arrogance but there was also no doubt the man was speaking as if they were equal.

If any other tier 8 Sky Realm had dared to act that way, she would slice them in half without a thought, but Lind Frey was different.

"We have no desire to be mired in that mess, Master Frey, but we are happy to see you restored and beyond!  We welcome you to our sect anytime!"  Lind smiled but his eyes were far from warm.

Before anyone could react, a pillar appeared next to Lind and they all felt Qi wash over them.  The 4 spikes then generated a display that showed a diagram of the meeting room.  Lind then nodded before dismissing the pillar.

A few were confused by what just happened but Char's blood boiled over as her sword grip creaked from her raw strength alone.

"How dare you?!"  She was moving before she realized but Lind never moved.  She assumed it was because she was too fast but then a scaled hand caught her blade easily!  All were shocked at that.

A Star Tier was far above a mere Sky Realm.  Crossing major realms was not possible the higher a cultivator went but Lind sat there as if Char's attack was simply a toy!  She could see he was taking it seriously but his face did not look strained.

"I have been gone for 3 centuries and both Hellfire and Maidens have been through tumultuous changes.  Further, anyone can carry a Fiend artifact without being infected themselves."  His words were reasonable but Char did not care.

He acted like he was above them and she would not stand for it.

Suddenly, a booming laugh filled the room.  It was coming from one of the Wilds who had skin as dark as tree bark but his smile was like creamy jade.  His golden mane of hair revealed he was likely a lion or other cat beast as his teeth were fairly long.

"Little Char, you should know this meeting was not planned by any of us.  What better time to sneak in than now?  Further, of all people, should he not be the most prepared?"  None of the beasts were offended.

All was fair to them so long as it was an attack and revealing an enemy to open attack was also perfectly fine.

Char hated the feeling of being belittled but then she heard something shocking.

Her blade cracked!  It was a peak grade 5 weapon and that claw could hurt it!

"Ah, I did not intend that."  Lind actually looked sorrowful at her sword which only angered her more.  She wanted to put more strength into it but she knew she was the only Star Tier while the Wilds had at least 5 from what she could tell.

She was about to pull away when she lost grip on her sword!  It had only been a moment but Lind had grasped when she pulled back to take her weapon.  That kind of awareness spoke of brutal fights and near death experiences.

Only when one was about to die could one grasp a chance at life.  Her amethyst eyes changed but then widened as several artifacts and ores appeared around them.

"This will only take a moment."  All looked on as the ore was melted in a crucible before being applied to the sword.

Awe filled Char's eyes as she saw the delicate work being applied before worry took her heart.  The sword had been with her for the last 700 years and few could repair it but now she felt like more was being done.

The inscriptions were vanishing yet she was not too worried as instead of weakening, her connection only got stronger.

A sudden feeling shifted in the air before the glow of Qi enveloped the entire blade.

"BREAK!"  The shell shattered and she saw a darkly beautiful claymore.  It was still familiar to her but now had veins of demonic Qi flowing through it.  It was all 6 demonic elements!

"As you are a Star Tier, I made a few changes.  Tell me if it feels right."  Lind's voice brought her back to the present as she took up the sword.  Instantly, a feeling of pressure entered her mind but it was not alien.

It was familiar and happy.  She could feel it.

"You already nurtured a nascent spirit but it could not survive in the sword as it was.  Thankfully, I was able to change its body to be accepting of it.  The spirit is your weapon spirit alone and none of my creation."  Lind revealed something quite rare in the cultivation world.

Weapon and armor spirits were generally only possible in Heaven grade 6 items and above but recently the Moebius Sect had proven that wrong.  While limited, the spirits in Heaven grade 5 were easy to sense.

Such creations were in high demand but compatibility became an issue.

What he revealed was that Char had cared for her sword and Dao so much that a spirit was naturally born.  If it was a grade 6 item then it was possible for it to thrive with some refining but otherwise it would disperse after a certain point.

Her original feelings of anger were replaced with tender ones as she carefully moved through her Arts and the strain was gone!  Her sword was now able to move forward with her!  She carefully sheathed the sword and looked down at Lind Frey.

"What do you want from us?"  Stunned silence followed even from the beasts.  Char was many things, but humble and subdued was not on any list!

"Want?  I want nothing but to inform the supreme powers of my decision in advance.  I will be continuing to create the Moebius Sect in the Heaven Realm.  I will be fighting the Fiends and I will root out anywhere they hide."  The last sentence suddenly made them all think of his actions.

"Heh.  Making a power is easy, boy, but do you think you can truly keep going on like that?  You will be inviting battle at every turn!"  A silver fox spoke up and sounded derogatory about it.  Few could argue the truth of its words.

"I know, but I will proceed anyway.  I know the truth of how the war is going."  Sudden solemnity came over the room.

It was not a secret in the higher ups that a war was waging in the realm above them but only the supreme powers knew how badly it had been going until recently.

It was bad.

They were falling back and in a few thousand years the current mortal realm would be cut off by the Fiends.

The pressure was harsh on them all.

"What can you do to change that?"  Char asked the question but Lind smirked before a sinuous emerald dragon replaced his form.  While some had suspected, now they had confirmation as the giant dragon looked down on them all.

"I have several ideas and will be working on them but I decide when they are ready, not before.  I will not allow a single Fiend to get a whiff of what I am doing either.  Consider this my announcement of war on the Fiends from my sect."  The dragon then unraveled and went out the only open door to the outside.

They all looked at each other as they realized the world was changing.  Only Char looked to the horizon before a smile spread across her face.  All who saw it shivered as the smile was not happiness but blood thirsty.

"Spirits help us all."  A bear spoke aloud what they were all thinking before they dispersed back to their sects.  The Maidens were gone so who knew what was going to happen over there but they had their own decisions to make.

War was coming whether they wanted it or not.
