Chapter 499 - 498 - Immortal Guardians
Chapter 499 - 498 - Immortal Guardians
The first to truly notice the change in the Heavens was Carla. They all knew Lind was dead as no Sky Realm could survive both the explosion and massive lightning strike. It was already well explained by him how tribulations or punishment lightning did not spare the innocent if they were too close.
Despite the gnawing chasm of grief in her heart, her cobalt eyes lit up as the Heavenly pressure was full of joy. It was only when her periphery vision saw movement that she stared in shock at the 3 cocoons.
They were hatching!
"Look!" Her voice pulled all out of their deep grief for a moment and then the feeling of the Heavens washed over them. It was as if a loving parent was comforting them, telling them that everything would be alright.
The little mountain spirit looked up through her tears and could only smile sadly. Just a little longer and they would have been born to help Lind.
She then felt it. The oddity in the air no one else could. She looked up and realized streams of Immortal Qi had been funneling into the cocoons since Lind had left. What had he done?
Knowing he was going to die, did he ask a favor? She felt her lips tremble as she realized how far that man from a far off world had done for them all. She could feel the world shifting back to her.
She was no longer isolated as the first scaled snout broke free and roared to the skies. Lightning danced but did not damage anyone as it seemed to celebrate the return of dragons to the world.
Tide was the first to shatter the cocoon but the pressure was far above a Heaven Realm. It felt so nostalgic to have another Immortal with her again!
As if to scare them all, Tide bolted into the skies, her tail now an elegant limb that ended in spikes as her massive wings were still fresh from her transformation. Burn and Spark quickly followed.
She noted that their colors had shifted slightly.
Burn had crimson scales but his horns and spikes were dark tan that went well with the scales. Tide was mostly white but had vibrant blue scales on the underbelly. Spark had golden wings and crimson gold scales.
They were all breathtaking but shot into the skies where lightning began to strike them all. The others worried but the mountain spirit knew what was happening. They had only become Sliver Tier Immortals.
Heaven needed more from them.
As if that was not enough, an emerald dragon suddenly returned in the form of lightning! All glanced down but there was no reaction from below and it did not even look at them. Instead it roared as it blasted all 3 new Immortals.
The little spirit was shocked at the profound nature she felt in that moment. It was far above the tier 7 Sky Realm Lind had been. She suddenly understood he had planned for that day when he initially helped the 3 wyverns enter their cocoons.
The roars of the 3 dragons were pained but determined. As they all looked on, the sky split open once more but far less than last time as Immortal Qi flooded the dragons. Unlike cultivators, aether beasts faced few bottle necks if their bloodline awakened.
All they needed was meat and Qi to advance. Still, even Immortal beasts could not advance so quickly normally.
The special conditions and demands setup by Heaven for the mortal realm allowed it. The Progenitor Heaven faded slowly before the tear closed and all could see the dragons had grown massive.
For the humans, demons, and aether children, they were terrifying beasts but the spirit now cried happy tears of recognition.
Spark suddenly reached out to her! She welcomed the bond and she was whole again!
However, the moment they connected she felt the grim feeling from Spark. The 3 dragons then looked at each other and dove to the ocean below.
They were going to retrieve his body or whatever they could find. She could feel it. They owed it to him at least to bury him properly.
She felt a mixture of grief and happiness so she was not sure what to feel. She simply hugged Mika and Kiran as she looked at the diving dragons.

Major Yun was alive, but barely. Because of where she was from, her armor had the ability to hide her from the sight of Heaven. It had severe limits but one of the limits was to withstand a single punishment lightning strike.
It had not, however, been designed to resist the damned explosion that happened above her head!
Tears and blood covered her as her bones were broken in several places. She glanced over and saw Celeste was ripped in half. It was better than she deserved. Lian was nowhere to be seen but half the control center was just gone.
She saw the charred remains of the 2 Sun Tiers. They had taken a direct blast of that infernal emerald light. The only thing that saved her was being in the chair and not near any direct array connection.
All the other Fiends were fried directly by the blast or the lightning.
She summoned a pill and barely swallowed it before the healing began. She wished that the blasted human was still alive so she could slowly refine the bastard in her own dantian.
The crack of bones and the piercing pain were welcome as she slowly picked herself up only to see water rushing in. The salty water was cold but she hardly felt it as she realized what she was feeling.
The pressure of Heaven!
Why?!
She had to escape back to the teleportation array! If the rules of the realm had shifted back, any Fiend in the open would die!
"So, one of you is still alive." A booming voice thundered as the sunlight was suddenly blocked off by a massive shadow. Pressure slammed into her and rebroke her limbs instantly as they had no time to consolidate the healing energy from the pill!
The power was very familiar to her. Immortals but how?! They were all dead but the spirits cursed mountain!
Her vision cleared up to see one of the most fearsome species in any realm. Dragons, real dragons!
Three of them floated above her before they changed into human forms.
There was 1 man and 2 women. They were gorgeous humans but looked at her coldly. She also felt the pressure of Heaven from them! Her armor was starting smoke due to their pressure.
"A Star Tier, but her armor is at least high grade 6. You are not from this realm. You only live for one reason. Where is his body?" One of the women that has lithe and had the brightest blue hair with pale white skin. She looked like a goddess to others.
"T-that fool blew himself up to crack open our defenses! There was no body and even if he somehow left something behind, lightning struck him right in front of me!" It was the last memory she had before the world went dark.
Lind Frey as a dragon human form roared as his Qi ran out of control out of his body like a storm of emerald light but lightning struck him before it fully embraced her.
The male with crimson eyes and dark brown hair picked her up by her throat in rage.
"You lie! A Divine Progenitor would not be killed by Heaven!" Yun felt actual fear at that moment. Not from the dragon but his words. A Divine Progenitor?! That boy was a Divine Progenitor?!
If the high command knew about that, they would personally sacrifice any force to kill him to stop him from getting stronger. Such a being was a direct threat regardless of cultivation realm.
The dragons were right too. Heaven would not kill such a being, not unless they did something completely against Heaven and Earth.
"Burn, she is not lying. Smell the Qi. He is not here nor is there any blood. He may simply have invoked Heavenly Wrath on himself to hurt the Fiends." The other woman that was far more well endowed had golden hair and eyes with crimson hued skin.
"Then we have no further use for this one." A feeling of extreme heat flared but the other 2 dragons stopped him.
"We know nothing of what is on the continent anymore and need to move the mountain back. We will cripple and question her. Bind her, Spark." Before Yun could try and self destruct, lightning flew along her body and she felt her cultivation get restricted back to the mortal realm!
"You take her, I will make sure the rest are dead." The one called Burn returned to his dragon form before hellfire was unleashed. More screams were heard and even bolts of lightning fell from Heaven as Fiends were revealed.
Yun could only watch as she was yanked into the sky as they left the sinking artifact behind. She saw all their forces destroyed but she consoled herself that the mortal realm was doomed.
The 2 Sun Tiers' deaths would catch attention. The high command would quickly organize a new attack force and prepare for Immortals as well.
"You only sealed their fate, Lind Frey. Pray you never return to see the smoking ruin you created." Yun knew she was dead but she took perverse pleasure at the doom coming for them all.
