Eternal Emerald Dragon

Chapter 495 - 494 - Terror of Fiends

Chapter 495 - 494 - Terror of Fiends

"L-lord Frey!  Please don't go!"  Carla, the demoness he first successfully awoke, was pleading with him to not fight.  All of the men and women were terrified despite how safe the mountain was.

Even with the limited attack, the Fiends were not making much headway.  They had to keep sending more people while the wyverns could fall back to be healed.  Lind had elixirs, Arts, and a few other things he could use but time was not on their side.

It remained a fact the Fiends had somehow killed 3 Immortal dragons.  They did not know that but it was clear the Fiends had overcome the original powers of the mortal realm.

Lind knew part of it was the greed of cultivators betraying their fellows but he still feared the potential weapons the Fiends could field given time.

He had to drive them back with a massive strike and the Nautilus might be able to do it.

The 3 cocoons had to be protected and time given to them all.

"Master Frey, I have checked several times but there is no reaction from the Heavens despite the essence pillars clearly showing Fiends connected to the people invading."  Lind nodded at Kiran's words.  Mika was with her but he now was much broader in his shoulders while being grim.

They were both peak Diamond Tier and could break through any day to the Sky Realm.  Kiran had slowed down due to her harmony but oddly she seemed to age slower than Mika.

"You 2 will protect all of them up here.  The Sky Realm wyverns will also guard the 3 cocoons with you."  Both frowned at him but he corrected their assumption.  "I do not believe they will stop at simple invasion.  If they get by me, you are my only hope."

It cleared their faces but Lind was not kidding.  Everytime he thought he learned the true depth of Fiend power, they kept surprising him.  He knew many falsely believed the Heavens would keep a mortal realm safe but he was now standing in proof that was not so.

Further, he suspected the Fiends were always pushing the limits to make their invasions easier.  The methodical and careful layout of the caches in his own realm showed they had a plan to take over the Floating Isles despite the risks.

"Good luck, Master."  Mika bowed and Lind smiled as he swung the hatch closed on the Nautilus.  The now shining hull shimmered before vanishing to all eyes and senses.  Inside, Lind carefully manipulated the crystal controls.

He had finally made a truly independent ship that could be operated by anyone.  A mortal could fly the Nautilus if he so chose to let them.

It had risks due to that but he would work on that in the future if he could.  For the moment, he had an enemy to face.

It had only been a quarter of a day, but the mass of bodies had jumped as the wyverns were fighting.  Blood was now visible despite many tumbling to the ocean below.

The sheer loss of life angered Lind but he saw the various black Raptors floating just outside the lip of the base of the mountain.  He had observed their experiments and made some conclusions.

It was time to run his own experiments.

Before anyone could react the screens showed he was diving down.  The weavings could hide a lot but the air pressure created a screaming sound that drove most wyverns away from him.  Others likely felt the shift in the air and moved aside.

Lind directly ignored the forces on the mountain and went to the source.

"Good morning everyone.  Welcome to Hell."  Lind was grim but still spoke a few words that came from his life on Earth.  He hoped his next actions could be forgiven as many innocents would die.

He quickly pressed a few buttons and felt the Qi flow where he needed as the Nautilus went to war.

Lian smiled as more and more wyverns were injured.  A few began to fall despite the atrocious loss of life on their side.  There were always more thralls but she knew it would take time to replace all they had lost already.

She was watching the battle closely, so she noticed the odd actions of the wyverns before a whistling sound became evident.  She had her scouts focus on the air above but nothing was noted.

Still, she trusted her instincts and had her Raptor move back.

Not a moment later, violet light filled her vision but did not touch her artifact.

Dozens of Raptors fell out of the air as if their strings were cut.  She looked in horror as they crashed into each other and shattered like glass!  The formations that reinforced the Raptors was very strong, yet now they were nothing but dead weight!

She turned up her face to see the silvery thing in the sky over them.  It was taperted to a point on one side while fairly fat at the back but it was sleek and reflected the sunlight off its hull.  It was a powerful artifact!

"I want that destroyed!"  Her orders were relayed but all were shocked at how quickly the artifact moved out of any attack as if it could sense them before they came close despite clear blindspots.

"Push him harder, make him use up his Qi!"  Lian knew who it had to be.  She had not been able to see it that day but clearly that artifact was how Lind Frey escaped her.  Metal rods filled the sky as more Raptors fired but none could touch it.

It did not matter, no one could keep up such high consumption maneuvers for long.  Her smile was wide as she imagined the metal seed shaped object like a pin cushion very soon.  The violet beams were a danger, but only if the thing could hold still to attack them.

Her smile began to wane as there was no slowing of the artifact.  If anything, her crews were getting exhausted while the artifact was as energetic as it started.

"He is somehow recuperating or getting his Qi regulated to keep going.  I want 3 Raptors to go full speed to ram him."  Her calm words were met with simple salutes as orders were relayed.

Without pause, 3 Raptors launched forward but she then saw black clouds gather and noticed the artifact was inside the mountain's area!  Her eyes narrowed but smirked as the Raptors shot up as lightning slammed into them.

Instead of simply dying, they made sure the Raptors would crash into their target!

Emerald bolts flew from the artifact that deflected 2 of the falling Raptors but the other grazed the hull!  Some of the metal spears finally glanced off it as well!

"Keep it up!  Do not give him a moment to breathe and send 3 more!"  Lian was feral as 3 more Raptors began to rise while the artifact rolled to the right to try and escape but escape was not allowed!

"Commander Lian!  The Overseer has sent reinforcements and will arrive shortly!"  A very welcome report came.  She had no doubt the Overseer was coming as well.

"You heard it!  Keep up the pressure and do not let that artifact leave!"  The crews obeyed as they pushed themselves well past their limits.  Their thralls paid the price by dying to give fresh resources to their owners.

"You will fall here!  You will die here!"  Lian looked fevered as she saw the seed shaped object bounce much more erratically than before and it simply made her laugh.  That laugh, however, made even other Fiends shiver.

Insane!

It was the only word for the tactics the Fiends employed.

He had only started his attack to some success when an all out assault had been launched.  He expected that much and was pushing the Nautilus to the maximum of its agility to dodge all the metal rods coming at him.

As time passed, he hoped they would tire out but 3 Raptors suddenly zoomed out at him.  He had made sure to stay inside the border of the mountain for that moment.  He hoped to lure them inside and borrow Heaven's power to smite a few as well.

He was focusing on the other attacks so he did not notice the change in trajectory until it was too late.  They had pushed to rise above him so they would come crashing down after the died.

They knew they were dead and were trying to take him with them!

If it was just the 3 Raptors, it would have been easy to dodge, but the barrage of other attacks kept coming so he could not avoid it all.  One of the artifacts scratched his hull as loud thuds made the beams shake.

The bolts had glanced off but the weaving sigils strained to keep the beams from cracking.  The power behind those attacks were far above Sky Realm!

As if many Fiends had not just died, more Raptors came at him!

What was wrong with them?!  Worse, he noted some of the land forces suddenly dying despite no attack landing on them.  The attacks from the Raptors never stopped and he understood how far they were going to pin him down.

Still, only a little over a dozen remained.  He could wait it out.

One of the channels suddenly cracked and Lind had to act quickly while the Nautilus slowed down!  His Forging flared through the ship and patched it but the damage was done as more bolts slammed into him.

The hull held but he knew the channels were a weakness that could still be affected now.  He glanced at one of the displays and frowned.

More of them were coming.  His hope to drive them back had backfired.  Instead, he had become their target and they seemed perfectly find dying to get him!

"I made a mistake."  Lind had come to defend the mountain but forgot an important point.  The target of the hunt was not the mountain and its beasts, but him alone.  They were coming for him and were clearly willing to sacrifice it all to kill him.

Retreat was not possible under the current attack as he could lose a guidance flow of Qi and simply crash into the mountain.  He did not want the Fiends getting their hands on the Nautilus as they could easily understand how it worked.

He did not know if Fiends had Forging but he knew they had weaving so it followed they could have that as well.  The terror of what the Fiends could become with just such a piece of technology made Lind's blood run cold.

"Spirits help me, I need to fall back."  Lind did not like retreating but he had no choice as he slammed his hand on a last resort.  The next moment he was slammed into the deck by gravity that would kill anyone else.

A few more thumps were heard but Lind could not be bothered as the interior light flickered before he passed out.  It was a small thing but Lind noted that even Sky Realms could be affected by extreme G-forces to the point of passing out.

His frustration was the last thing on his mind and he hoped to have a better plan the next time he attacked.  He had to fend them off, he just had to.

Lind passed out as the Nautilus broke through the sound barrier as it ascended to the skies above.
