Chapter 493 - 492 - Progenitor Heaven
Chapter 493 - 492 - Progenitor Heaven
"Dragons? We are not dragons like the ancestors." Lind narrowed his eyes as Burn quickly denied his analysis. Lind had not been certain but all 3 confirmed they were indeed born after the dragons were all gone.
They vaguely recalled a warm feeling right before they broke out of their eggs. Since then they had grown up and gotten stronger over the last 60,000 years or so. Lind confirmed with the spirit on the timeline but she was unsure aside from Delor leaving around the same time.
The Fiends had clearly taken 10,000 years to consolidate their power in the realm.
"You are correct. You are not like your ancestors but you were sent with them. I suspected you were chosen to replace them when the time came. Unfortunately, things were disrupted by the Fiends." Tide and Spark looked quite excited by his revelations but Burn seemed reluctant to believe him.
"Can you even prove it?" Burn's eyes were narrowed as he towered over Lind. The small human man looked up at them but he did not hide his limits.
"I can only prove your eggs were not wyvern eggs. I have compared them to the ones on the rest of the mountain and the wyverns here all have pale white eggs with a touch of water or air coloring at times. No scales on any of them." Even Burn had to bow at that piece of information.
He remembered when Mother proudly kept all their egg shells for herself to show off at times. Even now, he saw his crimson and tan shell happily twirling in her tiny hands.
It was somewhat embarrassing but her happy smile was hard to argue against.
"Then why are we wyverns? I have 2 hind legs and wings as my foreclaws. We are smooth skinned and have poison tipped tails. No dragon starts as wyverns?" Burn brought up a very good point but Lind smiled at that moment.
"I once had the good fortune to experience a Divine Inheritance. The cultivator was called Skinwalker. He studied the various forms of life at all levels of realms. He learned that atavism is sometimes simply a repressed bloodline higher realm beasts impose on their young." Lind had been surprised to say the least but it had a kind of sense for some.
The more profound beasts often put their young through trials to to stand on their own. He knew dragons were the most likely to do so but the current instance could be simpler. Immortal dragons had been sent to a lower realm by Heaven and their young could not hatch as Immortal dragons until they were ready.
Lind explained it all for the better part of 3 weeks. All 3 beasts sometimes seemed to look like they stumbled on enlightenment but did not go off to cultivate.
"So the Fiends cut off our ability to advance past the Sky Realm?" Lind only guessed it was their issue as their foundation, elements, and comprehension were top notch. Tide's question was valid but there was only one way to be sure.
"I have seen rocs do something like that but dragons are a bit different. This will be a very painful and long process. I have no idea what will happen or how long it will take either." The 3 wyverns seemed to fall into themselves for a time before Spark looked confused.
"Are you saying you can help us break through?" Lind frowned before he sat down on one of the stones nearby.
"That is complicated. I am not an Immortal Realm, obviously, but I have an advantage due to my unique status." They knew he was a dragon soul human but he had not told them all of it.
Burn's eyes narrowed but then all of them felt a change in the air. Lind's eyes became vertical slits as they turned emerald and his body bulked up as he became his humanoid dragon form.
"This is what happens when I use my full power. If I only focus on elements, I keep my natural state, but if I touch my harmony, I become this." The wyverns felt awe and fear flow through them but they could still shake it off. Suddenly, a ghostly emerald light began to grow out of him as a massive sinuous dragon coiled around the cavern opening.
Its giant snout looked down at them as if they were ants. Burn no longer doubted a single thing Lind had said. The glowing sigils flared once more.
"This happens when I push to my limit my soul strength. It does not happen when I weave but it is due to application I think. This is the maximum power my soul can achieve." While it was definitely superior to them, their blood was only excited. Nothing else occurred.
The other wyverns were all bowing towards the peak but the little spirit was happily smiling ear to ear as she looked at Lind. He then slowly dispersed both his transformations and became human once more.
He looked a little tired but that was easily remedied.
"It is not, however, the only thing I can do." Lind's dark green eyes opened and all 3 wyverns shivered. Something in those eyes was very different from normal.
"Are you saying you can exceed the power of Immortals?" Burn was not being disrespectful but Lind had outlined his limits clearly. Lind smirked and then called out to Kiran and Mika.
The 2 came running before feeling the oddity of the space around them.
"I need you 2 to guard the others and don't allow them to interfere. Whatever you feel or see, do not come out of the depths of the cave." They looked confused but bowed and went to fulfill his orders. "I am not just a dragon soul, I am a Divine Progenior Bloodline."
The moment he spoke, all 3 wyverns felt a piercing headache. It was not only them, the other wyverns of the mountain roared in pain as all of their race memory surged. The pain passed and new reverence was in all their reptilian eyes!
Burn, Tide, and Spark felt their hearts still.
"Y-you are a Progenitor?!" Tide saw it in his mind. Dragon progenitors were terrifying enough when a new derivative race was born, but a Divine Progenitor was essentially a god of their race!
The conditions for one to exist was near impossible to achieve!
"I am. I have something I can do, but are you willing to try? You understand what I think happened when the 3 dragons died back then?" The 3 wyverns calmed themselves as that was a real danger. No one truly understood how the Fiends could kill Immortals, yet it had happened.
"We are. We want to avenge the ancestors and ascend!" Burn roared but the other 2 seemed to consider things for a moment.
"I want to guard Mother. I want to continue to fly around this peak." Spark had much more humble desires but the mountain spirit suddenly looked teary eyed at him. Lind nodded and looked at Tide.
"I want to take back the water that calls to me. I want to ride the storms and see the world!" They had 3 different goals but cultivation was not limited to a single path. The Dao was in all things and led to the Great Dao as was often said.
It meant all will come back as one but the journey was unique to each cultivator.
Lind slowly nodded before turning to the spirit.
"I am unsure what will happen as I only have 3 references. Guard yourself, please." The spirit nodded innocently but then Lind looked up at the sky before a shift occurred.
Lind felt his harmony stir in his Sky Core. He had only done his next action during his tribulations in Rakathis Wastes and later in his Ascension Tribulation. The dragon soul told him it was not something to be done lightly but required at those times.
Lind's tribulations were not like other beings. There was a separate tribulation he had to overcome because he was a progenitor.
Now, he was pulling on his harmony alone. Unlike when he used his elements, the feeling he gave off was drastically different.
Before, he felt far above the wyverns due to bloodline suppression and later soul suppression, but the current feeling was like they were looking at the unconquerable God of Dragons.
Lind was not to be defied and it was not limited to the wyverns. The mountain spirit felt the desire to fulfill his every wish and the skies began to rumble as black clouds gathered. It was at that moment that he opened up his dark green eyes.
Unlike before, those eyes were not human! It was the Dao! It was the source of all dragons looking at them!
Lind was no longer the gentle scholar and teacher he had been in the last 200 years, but a deity that had descended. The rumble of thunder shook the mountain as he slowly rose into the sky.
"BREAK!" The black clouds were ripped open but instead of blue sky, it was as if a new world was exposed! It was a foggy land of endless peaks and towering castles among them. The pressure compared to before was far beyond anything they could normally withstand but Lind looked with disdain.
His hand stretched forth and emerald lightning gathered from the opening into his palm as he looked down at the 3 peak Sky Realms. They felt terror as they looked at him but hope bloomed as well.
Their blood was singing in their bodies! They felt like their bodies were too small and had to change! Distant roars began to echo from the tear and all recognized them as Lind could make the same sound.
Dragons! He had opened a tear to a place with dragons!
Lind's body looked so small but the lightning took on the shape of a sinuous dragon. It was not mortal lightning, it was Immortal lightning! It was infused with his will! The mountain began to shake and crack in several places as the pressure skyrocketed with the arrival of the lightning dragon.
"Your chances are up to you. The tribulation has come at my command!" Lind's voice was booming but it had changed. It was not simply the human but a Divine Dragon commanding the Heavens!
The 3 wyverns readied themselves before roaring in defiance as the lighting slammed into each of them. Star Tiers normally did not face tribulations but then the situation was not normal.
As 9 bolts struck from the tear in the sky, Lind became paler and paler as his body became covered in sweat. Finally, the dragon of lightning roared as the tear closed and the sky returned to normal.
Dead silence filled the world as he fell from the sky. Before he could crash into the mountain, the spirit caught him and carried him back. She looked at him very differently from before.
She understood Lind could never be tied down. He was a progenitor and they could not be bound to a single place. She gently laid him down as she looked over at the place the 3 wyverns had been at.
In their place were 3 cocoons. The colors were obvious but it was clear the transformation for them had begun. If they would live or die was up to them now. The spirit gently caressed Lind's face as she looked grateful at him. In that moment, she was far from the innocent little girl she usually was.
"Progenitor Heaven, the power of a progenitor to summon the Heavens to fulfill his wish. A rare power even for your kind. Your path is thorny but I think you can make it. The tests ahead will be harsh but you will not walk away. Maybe you can save them in the future. Save us all." The spirit did not sound like a little girl at all but the mature voice quickly vanished as the innocent girl returned.
No one heard her words but Heaven rumbled in warning so she only nodded before standing guard for all 4 as she glanced to the north. She felt a vile sensation closing in but it was not too close yet. The evil ones were coming but they were doomed.
She felt certain of it.
