Eternal Emerald Dragon

Chapter 460 - 459 - Purge

Chapter 460 - 459 - Purge

While Lind was gathering information at the meeting, Fey organized forces to head in 3 directions.

"You cannot tell from the outside what they are.  They will still retain the Qi they were born with but if forced to attack, they only have Fiend Qi."  Fey was talking to a collection of core disciples and elders.

Many beasts wanted to fight but Fey warned them that they were the ideal food for any corrupted beast.  She still took tier 7 and above but left more than enough to guard the sect.  Annabelle would be in charge of the sect while the rest of them moved out.

Lysanna was her aid while Cyntilla, Shoti, and Qing were going as well.

Lind did not stop them but harshly warned them to come back alive.  Kora was on her way to him as she was much faster in flight than he was.  Tal would also stay at the sect but she would be ready to move out if needed.

High grade 5 jade stones were sent out to the leaders of the 3 groups.  Most of the tier 7 and 8 forces were going to the water moccasin's former territory as he had only been tier 9 Sky Realm but Ethry would be there as well in case it got nasty.

"One final thing, if pushed into a corner, they may exhibit changes rapidly.  Do not let that finish at all costs!  You all have the information the Sect Master gave us for the hidden cache of their resources.  Find them and mark them but do nothing else!"  Her amber eyes were cold as her aura flared.

She was mid-tier 7 and easily fought peak tier 9 Sky Realms.  Few beasts dared to offend her anymore.

They all took off and the first true battle of Wild Heart Isle began.

The cardinal beasts home was a heavily forested area.  There were mostly deer, raccoons and other mild beasts that lived there.  It was considered rather peaceful compared to other territories but suddenly the scent of blood filled the air.

A spider danced through the limbs of the leafy green oaks and hickory trees as if on the ground.  Her prey were fearsome peak tier 9 Sky Realm beasts that did not smell right to the others at all.

"How dare you fodder rise up against us!"  The voice was wrong coming from a gopher.  His small body had distorted as sickening Qi flew on the air at Lady Gua.  She easily dodged but felt artifacts given by Lind to her reacted even though they missed.

A shiver went down her spine at the meaning behind it.

The attack had been a distraction for the lethal strike.  It was not the first since she arrived but rather than hide, the corrupted beasts had struck her on sight!  It seemed that being clever and hiding never occurred to them.

Even corrupted, they were still beasts.

"You gave in to their false promises and used the very soul of your prey as food.  You are vile monsters!"  Shouts suddenly filled the air as humans, demons, and aether children descended.  They were all peak tier 9.

"You took your time, my little lovelies."  More than a few smiled at Lady Gua's words but it was not the time for banter.  They got to work setting up formations and artifacts as weapons glowed in their hands.

Lady Gua narrowed her eyes to see them.

Lind had great trouble Forging weapons for some reason at Heaven grade 5.  The few successes he had were slow to pile up but now all of the current force had them!

The weapons alone would allow even a mediocre cultivator to fight 1 tier above their strength, let alone the high quality disciples in front of her.

"That man is terrifying."  Lady Gua felt her decision to indulge her curiosity all those decades ago was the most wonderful thing she had ever done.  "Don't die today, children.  Your surrogate father would be deeply unhappy at such an outcome."

Lady Gua began to weave her webs to make it impossible for their prey to escape as other beasts were killed in the confusion or thought they were helping their comrades who instead slit open their bellies to eat them!

The hyena's territory was a mix of open savanna and near desert lands.  A lot of insects resided there but more than a few predators called it home.  Fey looked out over the land and felt the oppressive heat was odd.  A lush forest was only a day's travel to the south but here it was a stifling desert.

There had to be a natural treasure as the cause but there was no time to think about it.

The silence did not feel right to her.  Her forces included a few Star Tier beasts that had met them on the way.  They would be the equivalent of reclusive masters in the cultivation world.  They had gone into isolation to comprehend the elements and only occasionally snapping up the stray beast that crossed their path.

A black striped white tiger had surprised her but apparently he only looked like one of the divine bloodlines since birth.  The Silver Tigers were distant descendants but their potential was quite strong.

"What do you sense, senior Ba?"  It was the only part of his name that he gave but the massive tiger sniffed on the wind before tilting his large head in confusion.

"Strange, there should be an acidic scent mixed with the scent of blood.  This territory is known for its poisonous insects and constant battles, yet there is nothing.  It is as if there are no beasts at all."  Fey found that highly unlikely.

She summoned an artifact in the shape of an egg with a square on one end.  It had a black metal pin charged with Qi.  She pulled it and the artifact began to suck in Qi at an alarming rate.

Without the pin, a reaction had started and Fey tossed the artifact with her full strength into the distance.  All the beasts and disciples looked on in confusion.

Most artifacts could be deployed but Fey had tossed it like a stone with none of her own Qi used.  Why?

Before anyone could ask, a bright flash of light was followed by a change in the scenery.

The once empty savanna became covered in blood and bits of beasts.  Insects had been ripped apart as a stench filled the air.  Fey was stunned as clearly all of the dead beasts were not killed too long ago.

The blood was still liquid and the poison still potent from the few poison sacs that were ripped open.

"What did this?"  The silver tiger Star Tier could not completely block out the powerful scents assaulting him but Fey was focused more on what the artifact had done.  Lind could not generate Celestial Qi for others but he could store it in artifacts for simple uses.

The one time use artifact basically blew all 6 versions of Celestial Qi in all directions at high speed until it dispersed.  It would rip apart any formations but what she saw was complete failure but felt nothing.

Fiend Qi.

It had ripped apart Fiend Qi formations!  She quickly flew forward and found twisted plates that felt repulsive just to look at.  The ground around them was entirely dead.

The effect was obvious.  They were buying time and leaving no witnesses.  Clearly the hyena had left orders if he was ever discovered.

Fey summoned a familiar artifact like Lind had used at the gathering of the alphas.  Hers, however, had a limited charge of Qi since it needed all 6 elements to work.  The space between the 4 orbs lit up and she saw a grouping of red dots fleeing to the north.

"This way!  They are running north!"  The Fierce Fairy brandished her broadsword and the group swiftly caught up to their targets as the battle began.

Prismatic fires burned the swamp lands.  Ethry could not take any chances as the bogs and swamps were interconnected underground.  There were simply too many areas to escape so she razed the borders to the core.

It was not a large territory but it had beasts that were experts in sneak attacks.  Her companions were mostly the beasts from the sect as they had better senses than the humans or demons.

Some aether children had come that were nearly as sensitive as well.

The strangely mesmerizing flames drew many natives out of their holes in the earth or stunted trees.  Unlike anyone else, however, Ethry had a disperser with her to use the artifacts Lind had created.

Several conical shaped dark metal artifacts were simply dispersing Qi across the swamps and bogs.  For anyone else, such a method would be useless but Ethry was of all elements and quickly detected what she wanted to find.

A little under a third of the beasts were her targets.

"Follow me.  Kill anyone that stops you.  We can show no mercy here!"  All solemnly nodded or roared in response as the attack began.

Compared to the other 2 territories, Ethry had it the easiest because she was a dragon.  Even corrupted, the beasts had a strong drive to revere her.  Blood flew on the air and the stench of putrid black blood quickly spread.

The other beasts then joined Ethry in fighting her chosen targets.  Who was guilty and who was innocent would be decided later.

At the same time in all 3 locations were intense battles that made most wars tame in comparison.  Humans and demons would fight Fiends but their own agendas still cropped up to cause issues.  There was no such problem on Wild Heart Isle.

That day almost 3 million beasts were slaughtered quickly and efficiently.  While on the outside all seemed normal, within was a very different story.  Foul Fiend Qi flowed in their meridians and body, corrupting the blood as it went.

Some of the Moebius Sect died but the number was stunningly low.  The major reason was a set of artifacts created solely for defense against Fiends.  They had severely limited uses but if the target was killed within those uses, survival was practically certain.

All the while, Lind was gathering more information and seeing a pattern unfold in the last 20 years.  The more he learned, the more certain he was that the Fiends had plans for Wild Heart Isle.

Could it have been the loss of all the demons back then?  Or was it simply one more tactic they had chosen to employ?  He needed more leads and now he knew where to begin.

The caravans!
