Chapter 397 - 396 - Seeing the Waves
Chapter 397 - 396 - Seeing the Waves
Word spread like lightning. Lind Frey had been found! It had been 5 years since he vanished from the lower world but no one had seen him at all! More than that, he had returned in dominance!
He had a conflict with the Sword Breakers Sect but resolved it with a Heavenly Oath in front of the Hellfire Sect and Divine Sword Sect as well as other powers. He also had a battle that shook the Isle of Flowers, but no one knew who he fought, only that they were peak tier 9!
Lind had recovered but he was still in his compartment of the Babylon Guild wagon. He refused any quarters but he was not alone. A now white streaked Fey was passed out on his tiny bed.
The aftermath of her heart demon was bad. Her meridians were cracked, her dantian was barely held together and her body was ravaged. She had not aged but some after effects were clear.
Her once youthful and warm face was not narrow and cold. That could recover but her hair would forever have lost its color in the streaks in it.
Lind was not even sure he could repair a Sky Core at the mid Tier 4. She had fallen far and he would guess she had indeed been in tier 5 before, but she had not awoken for 2 weeks. Still, under his careful ministrations, she slowly recovered.
He demanded a healer from the Heavenly Maiden Sect but none had come. His anger was rising as it was one of their own. He had confirmed Fey had presented a pass that she was the representative for the meeting, so where were they?!
He was also concerned that none of his wives had reached out ot him, especially Ethry. Very little could curtail her, yet 2 weeks was plenty of time to get him a message at least, but there was nothing.
He pushed back his concerns and looked to his door as he felt a presence. An unwelcome one.
"Senior Yanmi, I am not available at this time." His tone was cold but instead of leaving he heard a gentle voice.
"I think you should know something, Master Frey." There was deep respect in her voice and Lind undid the seals built into the wagon. Despite being led by tier 3 Sky Realms, the wagons were designed with peak grade 5 defenses. Only a Heaven Realm would breach them quickly.
The eye patch caught his eye again but he refrained from delving into it. It was an artifact but it definitely did not give her sight. He saw she had left her sword outside as the twins stared at her back.
The meeting was long called off and Baihu had lost his mind. It was said he had laid waste to the sect master tower when he learned his grandson's killer was the very Lind Frey all powers were after.
Even without the witnessed oath, if the Sword Breakers killed him, they would have to answer to a very long list of aggravated powers!
Further, the ascension of 6 elementals had only sped up! In the five years since Lind taught them, over 10,000 had come up. They were horrifyingly powerful!
Access to all 6 elements and training to be flexible made them unbeatable even a full tier above them. All of them! Some had reached tier 2 without issue and showed no sign of becoming less powerful.
The new wave of cultivators were highly sought after but most seemed to prefer the itinerant lifestyle. A third of those were elixir masters, Forgers, and other production masters. Again, with natural access to all 6 elements, they were extremely in demand!
All of it was because of Lind Frey! Capturing him for your own power was akin to suicide but there were some that could entice him! If he agreed, few could argue and simply hope his open style continued.
The White Tiger of the Sword Breakers would not let it go, but he would no doubt become an issue once he calmed down.
Yanmi looked respectfully at Lind and at Fey. She bowed before she glanced at the open door. Lind arched an eyebrow but waved his hand. The Qi arrays glowed as the door sealed shut and the isolation wards went up.
"The Maidens will not send a mind healer for her." The compartment became oppressive for a moment before Lind tamed his aura. Yanmi felt a cold sweat break out but she still did not understand why.
The man was a tier 2 yet he made her tier 8 seem like nothing! She had yet to meet these 6 elementals but she had heard good things and now she wanted to meet them more!
Still, she knew he needed to know.
"I also suspect your wives are being kept in the dark or hidden as that sly cat Baihu could get his revenge that way. That should be friends trying to keep you all safe but the Maidens…while they are a righteous power, they are cold up here." Lind tilted his head. He knew cultivation tempered the spirit but it would not explain abandoning Little Fey.
His confusion was clear so she continued.
"We are in good relations and I have greatly respected the Fierce Fairy, but there were some clear signs she was shunned by her generation." Jealousy? Envy perhaps, but shunning he did not understand. A sigh came from Yanmi.
"Getting into the supreme sects is a battle of blood, tears, and not a little luck. Ascenders are usually not exactly seen on the same level but rarely shunned like this. I suspect it is because of how much the elders doted on her at the time due to you." Lind felt his heart freeze.
"They should have known better! Elder Yi accepted her but only after Fey passed the tests! She had to do it the same as all the rest!" His voice shook the carriage but Yanmi held up her hands helplessly.
"I don't think you understand your importance up here, Master Frey. It is unheard of for a lower world mortal to become a Heaven grade master, let alone a Heaven grade 5! Our own sect has treated junior Solon with some favor but he is mature enough to only accept what he has earned and keep humble." Lind felt frustrated and knew he had to be careful himself.
The effect of his reputation was not limited to just his family but all who he called friends or even good acquaintances. The adoption of Mythra was a prime example if he thought about it. Lady Estelle did not mind aether children at all but she hardly would adopt one so readily.
The founding of Demon Hall had also changed the prestige of Darkmoor Kingdom demons as they now had an ally to point to for those powers against them on principle. Moebius Sect, a well loved rising power worked with demons, so not all demons were bad!
Lind was only just then appreciating the waves he had created.
"So her fellow sisters were against her but because of the benefits, they swallowed their enmity. Once I was persona non grata, they turned on her!" Fey was not naive but she was no longer in the sect she joined exactly.
The Floating Isles were full of power houses that looked down on the lower world and here was one held above them. All they saw was her connection to him and dismissed her worth outright!
"Why did none of the elders act?! Surely they are not blind?!" Yanmi looked sadly at him.
"As we have a similar system, the ones you call elders are now disciples, unless truly gifted. Until Tier 5, they would all be treated as disciples. Even at tier 5, they could only become Elders if they had built connections and were expected to serve that way." Lind instantly knew Fey would prefer making pills or fighting.
She had no interest in teaching others nor attending to disciples like an elder. She would help a Sister without question but an Elder? No.
He gently patted her head and she responded with a smile. It was the first response since the battle. It showed she would wake up soon.
"So those that could help her were in a similar boat or likely elites that are in the core area while Fey was not." Yanmi nodded as Lind showed he understood.
All her friends and true Sisters were long proven experts pulled to the inner and core area but Fey had to go the long way. Outer disciple to core disciple.
Her alchemy was not her specialty, but she had been close to mid grade 5 the last he had heard. It was not a small thing but mortal grade 5 was quite common in the Floating Isles. They nurtured them constantly so their numbers were not small.
Still, he was disappointed. A bright light like Little Fey had been twisted and nearly destroyed by petty acts. And now, they abandoned her!
Suddenly, a strip in a circle with no beginning or end appeared in his head. He closed his eyes and felt tired already. He had caused so much change but would he do it again?
No, not again, he would do it for those like Little Fey. Those that were ignored and left outside the world the Floating Isles had built.
It would be the work of centuries but he had time.
"Thank you for telling me. Here." Lind tossed a vial to Yanmi. She caught it but then froze as she saw what it was. It glittered with vibrant cerulean colors and a dash of gold.
"Y-you can make this?!" Lind was surprised she knew what it was. He had only learned of it in the Skinwalker Inheritance but he had been able to make his own version.
"It would be better to say I gleaned how to get close. It works up to Heaven Realm peak Star Tier so if you wish, you could have your eye back." She had acted to defend him at his weakest and stood behind him without asking for favor or price.
She had pestered him about having a meeting but never once brought up her actions. Now, she had brought him clarity, again without price. Lind was not one to let such an action pass.
A tear fell down her cheek before she carefully stored the elixir away. It was not an easy thing to change yourself. The Elixir of Rebirth was aptly named as it cleansed the impurities but it also restored lost limbs.
Someone that had come to terms with a limited existence could suddenly have it all back. It was not possible with pills, many had tried, but herbs had too many impurities. The only level of pill would be an Immortal Pill but by then, the limbs would be regrown becoming an Immortal.
She bowed and left the wagon. Lind looked at the sleeping Fey and knew he was on his own. A new battle was about to begin.
