Chapter 396 - 395 - Soul Battle
Chapter 396 - 395 - Soul Battle
Lind recalled how a heart demon had several effects on him, chiefly an explosive increase in power, but it came at a severe price. He had barely skirted Qi deviation and the crippling of his body.
What had happened to Fey that she had such a heart demon?
Had no one noticed?! Qing was not the sole expert and she had often spoken of her seniors being very competent. Lind pushed his anger aside as Fey pulled out her sword.
He realized her heart demon had allowed her to reach the peak of Sky Realm but until confronted with it, he had not even realized the problem. Her potential had been enormous, enhanced by his elixirs and teachings, but the most she should have reached safely was tier 5.
A sudden memory came back to him.
After he had 'died,' Fey had thrown herself into training and had explosive growth but isolated herself from other Maidens. When Qing, Shoti, and Annabelle left the sect, Fey could have gone with them but the leaders were unlikely to let a 4th gifted junior slip away.
Having him as a master was not a breaking point for the sect as Lind was acknowledged as a wonderful teacher to many disciples of the Moebius Sect. It would be foolish to follow Valkyrie's orders to the extent of denying his abilities.
Lind had no idea how long since Fey had been near another Maiden but he could take a good guess it had been awhile. She may have actively avoided them, in fact.
"F-" Lind could not even get her name out before a blazing sword of fire and darkness tried to slice him in half. Her battle skills were normally much higher than his, but his time in the Divine Inheritance had freed Lind up to improve as well.
He could not hold back at all! Despite the artificial rising of her power, it was still very real! She was truly at the peak of Sky Realm, regardless of what she should be. His Eyes could easily perceive the flow of Qi but it was now so wrong!
The meridians were straining to contain it and the Sky Core was barely holding out as Fey attacked. The room was strong, but few structures could stand up to tier 9 of the Sky Realm. Thankfully, the open balcony beckoned.
Lind dove into the sunlight and sky as Fey followed. Her cape fell and her battle dress was severely worn and disheveled. That was why she wore the cloak. Some part of her knew!
Lind had been the same, he had known something was wrong but the question was how much of Fey remained!
The 2 drew eyes but all quickly had to run as shockwaves smashed into towers and defenses. The formations broke and people were tossed like a storm had picked them up.
"I WILL HANDLE THIS, HUO & AYZLEA PROTECT THE REST!" Lind's voice roared across the Lily Sect. He shot up like a cannonball while Fey closed in. She was far faster than him!
At least if he only used hit tier 2 cultivation.
Emerald scales replaced his skin as his eyes became vertical slits. His robes were stashed as his body grew. A clap of thunder sounded instantly as Lind broke the sound barrier. Fey missed him entirely but she was hardly put off.
The mad desire to kill him was taking over which made Lind worried. There was a narrow window with a heart demon before a person was lost forever. Fey was not as bad as he was but his presence was accelerating the problem greatly.
"FEY! IT IS ME, LIND! BIG BROTHER!" He used his grade 1 weaving to mimic his voice as speaking was near impossible in his draconic form. He could only make deep growls and maybe a few simple words. Dragons spoke with intent which Lind was far from.
The moment he thought of that, however, he instantly reached out to Ethry. They were in the Floating Isles, he should be able to reach her!
His hopes were dashed as sword Qi came flying at him. He had no ability to distract himself for even a moment in front of the Fierce Fairy. She was an unforgiving opponent and had no mercy for her enemies.
Lind frowned as he had to focus his all or death would find him. Fey would be truly lost then.
He used his harmony to enhance his body as he had no weapon that could withstand hers. His best items would be destroyed by the sword in her hands. He also saw people were disobeying him.
Another few forms were rising into the air. Lind could not let them get close. A heart demon could be tipped over the edge if put under too much pressure. A perfect example was when the Demon Empire pushed him too far.
The percolating heart demon had exploded out of Lind rather than slowly continue building in the background.
Lind used his full power to roar which actually made Fey stumble a bit. Hope bloomed as the pale amber eyes became confused rather than hateful. Lind looked at his emerald harmony flaring around him and had an idea.
He was not Qing, nor did he have access to something like the mirror, so he could only go with his instincts. His harmony was able to affect other cultivators, a positive influence from all testing results he did.
It was not fully understood but his dragon soul was the same as his harmony so his roar had traces of it in there.
Lind let it all out.
Emerald light became a second sun in the sky. Not just in the Lily Sect but across the Isle of Flowers, all cultivators, plants, and aether beasts felt their cultivation rise inexplicably. Those that were struggling suddenly seemed able to move forward.
The Lily Sect, however, had an awe inspiring sight.
A sinuous dragon appeared out of the emerald light. It was massive! It felt like a god! Even the tier 8 cultivators felt like kneeling in front of it, but many sharp eyed people noticed it was not flesh and blood but Qi.
Its eyes were alive, however.
It looked down at the tiny woman in front of it who was now shivering in fear.
"NO! Not real! I will not be tricked again!" Fey was panicking but then a voice reverberated across the distance and broke her shattered heart's defenses.
"Little Fey, I will never leave you. I am here, always." The dragon then dove down and swallowed her. Many began to fear but no blood fell. At first, it seemed settled but then pain flared across the dragon's snout.
Before long, a viscous black substance appeared that made all feel instinctual fear.
It seemed to be trying to infect the dragon but its emerald light would not wane. It became angry.
"GIVE HER UP! SHE IS NOT FOR YOU!" The voice made all flinch before the black material seemed to scream as flames began to roast it. The dragon opened its mouth and massive flames appeared.
Unlike the body, those flames were very real! The power in them seemed to reach the core of every cultivator and inside was a woman screaming. Black smoke seemed to rise from her body as the flames purified her.
Finally, the black substance vanished and the flames stopped. The dragon looked exhausted as it evaporated. The figures in the air suddenly realized they were back on the ground! When did they land?!
Only 2 figures remained in the air but both were falling without any hope of survival. Even a tier 9 could cripple their body if they fell too far.
Some went to catch them but there were 2 that were faster.
It was the Babylon Guild. The light and dark caught the woman as the fire and earth caught the man. None knew who the woman was, but the supreme powers stared at the man. Only 1 man had the ability to summon an emerald dragon. Only 1 man could make cultivators suddenly progress with his harmony.
Only one 6 elemental was hunted by them.
Lind Frey.
He had been there the whole time! He was right under their nose!
Yanmi narrowed her remaining eye as a thought came to her. It could not be a coincidence that Lind Frey was in the same rough area an incident occurred with the Sword Breakers. He had not come by the ascension pools and the Elysium Plains was one of the western most points of the Floating Isles.
The method was immaterial but the timing lined up!
She glanced at Hilden and was relieved he was a fool. He was sent to simply be an obstruction while the rest of the sect hunted for the killer of their young master. His fellows, however, would be a problem.
"Formation 7!" Her words were like thunder and her men responded. Swords were drawn as the entire entourage of the Sword Breakers was captured and caged! Hilden did not even get a chance to move before Yanmi had closed off his Qi.
"What is the meaning of this?!" Normally, she would be happy to fight with them, but matters had changed. Strangely, Bishyin simply nodded at her before he looked back up at the sky. The leader of the Lily Sect, however, looked enraged.
"I cannot allow this in my sect!" She did not want to bully a lower power but she would for this instance. She was about to act when a chill went up her spine.
"Let them go, now." It was a weak voice but it came from an exhausted man with dirty blonde hair and dark green eyes. His robes had been replaced with crimson. Any that had not figured it out, now did.
"You can't be–" The look in the dark green eyes froze her soul. She had faced low Star Tier aether beasts that killed millions without a thought, but the look in those eyes told her doom only awaited her if she disobeyed.
She signaled to her men and then moved behind Lind. Her men followed but all bowed with respect as they passed him. Shock flowed as Bishyin also bowed.
Lind looked coldly at Hilden.
"This foolishness stops. I am the one that killed your young master. He was torturing a village in the Elysium Plains because he saw a child with an empty vial from me." His voice was steady and he never looked away as Hilden clearly wanted to attack but was not suicidal.
There were 2 supreme powers staring him down and their side was clear.
"You should kill yourself or there will be war!" Hilden sneered but then 2 badges appeared. One was pale jade and was known, but the other was darker jade! It was elixirs! Hilden felt all the power go out from him.
Mid-Heaven grade 5 elixir master! What sane person would dare harm such a prestigious master?! The other powers jumped but the elixir masters of Lily Sect suddenly fainted. They had been taught by a mid Heaven grade 5 master for free!
"I will not deny my fault in giving out elixirs to those that could not protect themselves, but I gave all your men the chance to leave. They refused. So I killed them." Lind then looked up. "I swear by Heaven and Earth all I have said is the objective truth."
The feeling of pressure descended and Hilden realized the last vestige of attack was gone! So many powerful witnesses and there was no way to deny it! They had lost before the war even began!
