Chapter 351 - 350 - Chimeric Accords Unravel

Chapter 351 - 350 - Chimeric Accords Unravel

The Cygnus Clan had been pursued for a good reason from the Demon Empire.  They had one of the key techniques of cultivation that would maybe allow for the more troublesome bloodlines or physiques to be improved or controlled.

The Akashic Bloodline Physique was rare but its inability to be tamed was an issue no one had been able to solve until Lind figured out a method.  It worked but hinged on too much coincidence and groundwork for the Demon Empire to endorse it.

It was part of why the Cygnus clan left as the pressure to cross lines even they did not want to, left them in a dangerous spot politically and literally.  The then Emperor would happily start killing clan members to get his way.

It was also why they hid it away on their way to Darkmoor Kingdom.  It was simply inviting destruction to have their Clan hide in Darkmoor with the Accords in their possession at the same time until Darkmoor valued them.

That part worked fine as Darkmoor did find the Cygnus Clan a valued member of their elites even without the Accords, but the clan heads always wanted to reclaim their legacy to rise once more.

Skip to when Lind was hunting for it and the Moebius Sect did find the ancient trail and leads to where the Cygnus Clan had possibly hidden the Chimeric Accords but the technique remained lost even after 30 years of hunting.

So many ruins and signs that the Accords were left somewhere but empty caches were all that were found.  Where had it gone?

Cymera screamed as her skin bubbled with arrays appearing on her very skin.  Arrays well known to Tessa even if not how to apply them entirely, the Cygnus Clan had to be able to identify the Chimeric Accords once found again.

"They betrayed us!"  Lind slowly nodded as he looked on at the demoness seemingly unable to do anything but bleed and scream in front of them.  She referred to those that were supposed to hide the Accords.

The reason they were lost is that they never returned save as bodies.  They had been killed by the Demon Empire pursuers but the majority of the Clan was safe in Darkmoor by then.  It was clear the Empire had given up not only due to that fact but due to the fact they had recovered the Accords and hidden it.

It was a shrewd play that allowed the Demon Empire to quietly experiment with none the wiser.

"MOMMY!  MOMMY WHY?!"  Words finally came out of the screaming woman that made Lind nearly cut himself as he made fists.  Tal was confused but Tessa had the blood drain from her face.

"BASTARDS!  They actually did it!"  Lind finally could not ignore it anymore.

There was only 1 way a Voidwalker and an Akashic Bloodline Physique could be in the same being.  It was put there by consuming a demon with one or the other into a more powerful demon.

The stronger demon was the main body the Accords were used on as the other demon was used as an ingredient with who only knew what catalysts to stabilize the process.  Given what he had seen, Cymera was naturally a Voidwalker, the use of rending space was far too advanced to not be the main body's bloodline.

The Akashic Bloodline Physique had to come from the other demon.  It was also worse because the only way to make sure the bodies were compatible is that they were from the same family.

"50 years, that is how old she was.  They must have made sure she was stable and then fused them together.  There had to be more but with that elixir, she will be lucky to survive."  Tessa looked over to him but Tal seemed to understand.

"Papa used the Stabilizer Elixir?"  Lind patted her head as they felt pressure rise and fall chaotically in the crater they stood over.  Tessa seemed to calm down but they stayed on guard.

"While I traveled, I met beings with several bloodlines and at times they tried to benefit from them all which is dangerous.  Your technique, from what you had taught me was a similar idea and I stumbled across an elixir that helped them.  Low Heaven grade 5 is the minimum requirement, however, so I was glad we did not find the Accords."  Lind knew if a World Realm had those elixirs, they would explode.

A low Heaven grade 4 was the maximum safe potency down to Stone Tier.  Any lower and they would just cripple themselves.  Mortal grade had a far wider applicable range but Heaven grade was just too powerful.

Lind had to examine anyone he gave those elixirs to as a low quality dantian development would be a lethal danger with those elixirs.  The strain for Forged items was similar as Heaven grade added a massive level of complexity for the cultivator to put forth.

In that regard, what Lind had done to Cymera was likely murder.  It was war, but he did not feel good as he suspected several innocent people were sacrificed to make her existence possible.

"Why is it not helping her then?"  Tessa was confused.  Cymera had been stable physically, if not mentally, but for being a stabilizer, the elixir seemed to be breaking the demoness.

"It is a Stabilizer for the proper use of the Chimeric Accords.  Incorporating a new bloodline or trying to harmonize a disparate one with a cultivator would be aided by that elixir.  What they did was mash things together to get the result they wanted, her mental state is a clear result of that."  Lind felt his heart turn cold as he wondered if there were more of this woman.

The elixir was doing what it was supposed to do but there was more than one soul in that body.  It was the only way to have the result of 2 rare demon existences be in a single body without ripping it apart.

He also suspected controls were imposed somehow but they would be constraints the elixir would not allow.  In other words, Lind had shattered the chains holding the woman together so now a war was being waged inside her.

"SILENCE!  I killed that ungrateful child!  It was an honor to become part of me!"  The likely owner of the body spoke and the tone was cold.  Lind realized there was a third person in there, maybe simply used as a bridge.

A single family had both the Voidwalker and Akashic Bloodline Physique.  The odds were against both but with the Chimeric Accords and the centuries spent honing it, the Demon Empire had finally unified them.

The price, however, was all too clear.

Cymera was unstable and clearly insane.  She had no care for the effects of her power on the world and just did it.  She had no value for the demons she sent forth like berserkers to die by their enemies or her own attacks.

"Is there nothing we can do for her?"  Tal felt sad, even after 20 years of hard training, she still had a kind heart.  She understood what had been done and while the demoness was an enemy, she was pitiable.

"YOU DARE?!"  Lind felt danger spike as he shoved Tal away and Tessa was slammed with his harmony aside.  The air shattered into the void but Lind clamped down into the ground with his fingers as he felt his shoulder dislocate from the shift of his weight so suddenly.

He still did not let go as the gaping chasm into oblivion was at his feet!

"PAPA!"

"MASTER FREY!"

Tessa and Tal shouted but they could not get close.  Cymera was bleeding with her hair splayed out by it around her face as she looked totally incensed at Lind.  The war continued but it seemed Cymera forcibly used her Arts.

"I am the God of Death!  None can defy me!  You will be consumed by the void at my will!"  Lind saw the broken soul in those gray eyes.  He could not summon his scales but there was something he could do.

"You never answered me, who was she?"  His voice barely carried but Cymera seemed lost the moment she heard his question again.  She tried to shake her head but something clearly had been touched off.

The tears did not diminish as he hoped, yet something changed as her arm dropped.

"My daughter gave birth to a genius.  She reached the Demon Soul Realm at 12!  Twelve!  I was so proud but my awakening came as I could barely control the tearing of the world."  It mirrored her earlier comments.  An idea came to Lind.

"You volunteered so you could be with them?"  A slow nod but then a rictus of a smile came back.

"I was so strong!  Once the procedure started, the world was so clear to me!  We are just in glass with glass beings all around.  A quick shove will shatter us all!"  The instability of her mind might have been original rather than induced, but Lind pushed on.

"What changed?  Why was she brought to you?"  He felt sick asking but the pull on the void was lessening as the Art was no longer supported.  He could see the blood drain faster as rage came over her face.

"That ungrateful daughter tried to hide her from me!  It was an honor to serve our Emperor!  We obey!  I sent her screaming into the void then!"  Lind closed his eyes but only offered a quick prayer.

"So then she was finally brought to you, what was her name?"  He kept pushing and it worked.  Cymera shook her head once more yet a change finally occurred.  The rips into the void slowly closed as the world healed.

"Gaita!  I am Gaita!"  A happy tone came out as if someone was excited to reveal an answer they knew but Lind could only mourn.  Cymera's face twisted in pain as the skin began to shift once more as if rats were trying to escape.

"NO!  I am CYMERA!  You are just a piece of me!  I am the supreme weapon of the Empire!"  Lind finally looked up at the sky in resignation as he had to say it.  He could not let this demoness run anymore.

"You watched as your granddaughter was reduced to a soup.  She wailed and begged for you or her mother to stop it but you could only watch as if it was all far away from you.  Then the true nightmare began, as tubes fed the soup into your body as arrays inserted her soul into yours."  Lind knew something similar happened during possession attempts he had read about.

It was also similar to what the Immortal Artificer wanted to do to him.

It was the ultimate violation.

Cymera blanched at his words as she tried to summon her Arts but it would not work.  Her mind was a mess and the other soul was fighting her.  The soul of the Akashic Bloodline Physique that could not be disobeyed, not even a Voidwalker.

"The Emperor screwed up and realized it, didn't he?  Gaita is alive in you, your granddaughter with the bloodline your Empire wanted so badly.  It is why you wanted Kalen back then isn't it?  They wanted to add him to you!"  Qi began to fly once more as Cymera slowly fell.

They wanted to increase the strength of the Akashic Bloodline Physique in their perfect weapon.  Or maybe they simply wanted to try again with another?  It no longer mattered.

"STOP!  STOP TALKING!"  Cymera screamed but Lind slowly advanced.  He limped and his arms did not look right but he did not care.  He knelt down and simply smiled at her.

"You are free now. I am sorry."  There was no time for anyone to understand before a blazing saber appeared and sliced off Cymera's head.  He could not get close before, but Gaita took control long enough for him to be seen as a friend.

"Please rest in peace."  Tears fell from Lind's eyes as the body still twitched before he felt something terrifying blaze from it.

"PAPA!"  Tal yanked him back as a tear opened around the body as it fell away into oblivion.  Lind nearly tried to break free but his arms had to be set back before they would work.  Sudden lashes of Qi flew into the tear as the Maidens pulled the body back.

They knew there was no chance of rebirth if the body was taken into that place and they had seen enough tragedy that day.  Lind collapsed in pain and relief both.  He could not find it in him to smile but he sent up a prayer to let those souls have a better life in their next one.

Tal held him as he passed out and Tessa came running with elixirs to heal him.
