Chapter 349 - 348 - Merciless to All
Chapter 349 - 348 - Merciless to All
Lind was pulling in Qi as quickly as he could. He had emptied ¾ of his dantian to close that tear into the void. He had never seen anything like it in real life but his time in the Divine Inheritance included studying rifts into the void.
The space between realms was not simply a border to be crossed. It was a void, even less than outer space, of just nothing. It had no Qi to recover and no land masses nor treasures to entice, but it was a very effective place to dispose of troublesome things.
He looked at the Sky Realm coming to fight him with trepidation. She had the Akashic Bloodline Physique the same as Kalen but unlike him, she seemed to be happy to use the aura of command to incite her forces to suicide attacks.
The Heavenly Maidens stations at the forts emerged and he was glad to see them calm, or at least ready to fight. He downed an elixir to support his recovery as both he and the demon went to the ground.
"I am Lind Frey of the Moebius Sect." He bowed which seemed to surprise the demon but she happily bowed back.
"Cymera Bloodsworn. You are the first to thwart my attack as a Voidwalker." Lind narrowed his eyes at that word. It was impossible, but she stood in front of him. A Voidwalker and an Akashic Bloodline Physique? It should not coexist.
His denial must have been clear as the demoness laughed but the violence in her eyes only increased.
"Do you recall the Chimeric Accords the Cygnus Clan was so keen to get their hands on?" Lind slowly nodded as he had found some leads but the Accords had evaded them all that time.
"A few of their bloodline remained loyal to the Empire and happily retrieved the Accords centuries ago. I am the result." Lind's Eyes tried to pierce the secrets but something was wrong.
He had cultivated his Soul Eyes to Heaven Eyes, but clearly he had been stopped by something due to the nature of the woman in front of him. He could see Qi clearly flowing into her but her dantian and meridians were shielded from him.
"It is not polite to peek, Lind Frey!" She vanished from his sight but he leapt much farther than a human should be able to. He then stayed in the air as the location he was at was devastated.
Trees were uprooted while stones seemed to be obliterated. Lind found the level of damage suspicious.
"You can incorporate the void attacks into a simple physical attack?" A giggle came from above him which made Lind whip around to find her floating as if nothing had happened. Her wings flapped a bit but they made no noise and without a flow of Qi, he had missed her move entirely.
"You are good, but I see the rumors of your ability to fly are not exaggerated. How are you doing that at the World Realm?" It was a strange thing to Lind's senses. She was clearly happy to destroy, but she was calmly talking to him as if what she had done was nothing in her eyes.
"You are holding back, why?" Surprise flashed on her face at his astute insight to her. She giggled some more before floating down to the ground once more. Lind joined her as she seemed to calm down.
"It is hard to explain. Normally I would be ripping you apart limb from limb, but my instincts warn me direct attacks would be unwise. I have never felt it before. Everything is so fragile in this world. You are not." Lind arched an eyebrow as he glanced at the damage. He estimated he would have been shredded as much as the trees and stones.
"I am afraid I cannot grasp your meaning. I am a major realm below you and feel certain that I cannot deflect those skills of yours. Voidwalkers are rare and are feared for good reason." Pleasure flowed on her face in a way that made Lind flinch. She was pleased to be feared?!
To the best of Lind's knowledge, Voidwalkers were powerful demon cultivators that could create tears in the void. Teleportation was available to them at the World Realm without the need for arrays or formations.
Also, similar to the Akashic Bloodline, it had severe mental effects, yet the woman seemed fairly stable in front of him. She had made it to the Sky Realm, so it was clear someone had a breakthrough.
"You can't feel it, can you? I can feel it. It flows off of you in waves but there is something solid about you unlike anything else in the world. My family, the buildings, and even the world itself are so fragile, but not you." Hairs rose on Lind's body. He was wrong, so very wrong.
Her mind was broken, it was so broken she had come out the other side of insanity to a dangerous place.
"I am afraid I do not know about that. I have faced powerful forces, but they could still kill me easily. Perhaps we could discuss your Dao?" Lind seemed to intrigue her but his offer made her eyes narrow. The vibe around her changed instantly.
"Talk? You want to pick me apart is that it? You want the same thing as all those damned healers I sent screaming into oblivion?!" Understanding flooded Lind. He had misread her. She was difficult to pin down mentally but he did not flinch from her accusations.
"I want all knowledge. I am a 6 elemental and struggled to reach the Diamond Tier safely. Nothing is invalid for inspiration but what I asked about was your Dao. What Dao have you chosen to follow?" Confusion spread on her face as the near violent aura faded. She seemed to not have expected his honest words.
"Dao? What is a Dao? I simply command and the void obeys." The tone of her voice suddenly seemed to become childlike. Her facial expression also became strangely innocent and Lind felt terror be born in his heart.
Surely not, right? Even the Demon Empire would surely not do that!
"Cymera, how old are you?" An embarrassed flush came across her beautiful face. The sunny day made it clear to him but she did not seem to dislike his question.
"I am going to be 50 years old this year." A swift calculation and some further retrieval of the ability of the Chimeric Accords according to Tessa and Kalen brought Lind to a very dark conclusion.
The feeling in the forest changed and Cymera felt it. It made her blood rush in excitement as she knew a fight was coming. Her childlike innocence vanished as her face became cold once more.
"How dare they!!!!!!!" Emerald flames lit up around Lind but he quickly brought his rage under control. He noticed the change in Cymera and knew it was now not insanity. It was far worse.
"How old are you Cymera?" There was no blush that time and a wide smile that had clear homicidal violence in it.
"Age does not matter. I have seen centuries and time only matters when it ends." She vanished once more but that time Lind stayed put as he had emerald scales cover his body. He felt a tremor in the Qi and put out his hand.
Pain lanced up his arm, but that was all as Cymera appeared with a shocked but happy look on her face. Her fist glowed with dark light and shadow Qi that tore open the void around it, yet it could not do more than crack the scales on Lind's hand.
"What was her name?" Lind's voice lost all gentleness. He had been honestly trying to understand the enemy in front of him if he could but he now understood too much. Instead of confusion, Cymera seemed to consider his words.
She then vanished once more and Lind was forced to duck as the spot he had stood was ripped open. He quickly used demonic Qi to close it up. The tears were not stable the bigger they got.
The reason that giant one had not grown was because it was an Art, but she had simply been ripping open the spaces around him for a while now.
Her laughter filled the sunlit air around him but the attacks paused.
His eyes bulged as he realized what she was doing. He propelled himself with both air and earth Qi like a cannonball right at the nearest fort.
The Maidens were holding on but the berserker demons suddenly all knelt down as Cymera appeared in front of them.
"You are all too noisy!" The very air cracked around the fort as Lind felt the blood drain from his face. He would not make it!
Senior dragon soul seemed to gather power but he suppressed it. Even she could not stop what was coming without demonic Qi. She was no longer alive and had no access to her full powers.
An Immortal Dragon could certainly quell what was coming, but not a simple soul. She had taught him that much.
A sudden shadow flickered above but only Lind noticed. He squinted before shock filled his veins.
"NO!" He shouted but it was too late!
A sudden shadow spread across the skies that surprised all of the ones fighting in the forts. Even Cymera stopped what she was doing and looked up.
It was a meteor. It was not an exaggeration either, a giant rock burning through the sky fell but Cymera only smirked as she went to rent open the sky, but then she frowned as it failed. Lind also was shocked
What was going on?
"GET OUT OF THE FORT NOW!" He yelled and the Maidens obeyed, but the berserker demons only obeyed Cymera. She merely flew away and all saw the impact that shook the shore once more.
The previous damage from the void attack had already started an erosion, but the impact caused cracks to spread as a massive chunk of the shore was now just gone. The fort was obliterated.
The Maidens had to hide from the mushroom cloud and debris that had been sent outward but a wall of emerald flame suddenly shrouded them to incinerate the stone and earth flung outwards.
"W-what was that?" A slim woman with dark hair was bleeding from a few wounds but she seemed alright. A massive woman next to her had a cracked sword barely holding on that seemed familiar to him.
"That, was a stone dral's innate Art but instead of creating earth on the ground, she dropped from the sky." Lind looked in concern but a woman emerged from the wreckage. She had tanned in appearance but it was actually stone armor.
Her usually cheerful face was stern as she looked up into the sky.
"You missed me!" Cymera seemed to be happier than when she met Lind. Tal looked over to Lind before she nodded that he was ok, yet looked back at the demoness.
"No one harms my Papa or his friends!" Even after 25 years, she still called him papa but the words only made Cymera smile more as she vanished from her place in the sky.
"TAL, RUN!" Tal only glanced at him before she had her arms glow with earth Qi before Cymera suddenly stumbled out of midair in shock.
"Where I stand, the world will not bend to you!" Lind was floored as he had never seen Tal have such a skill. He suddenly recalled that wiry aether beast back in the Inheritance. It had attacked physically but never once had Lind sensed a Qi attack of any kind.
Even that nightmare did not attack the stone drals with Qi.
Fists covered in stone flew faster than most eyes could follow and caught the Sky Realm in her jaw. A solid crack was heard as the demoness was sent flying out of control into the water!
Lind's jaw dropped wide as he had seen Tal fight many times but the brutality of this was clearly well practiced. When did she learn to fight like that?
"You are a hard man to catch up to, Master Frey." Tessa suddenly floated down and Lind realized the other 2 forts had been saved. He wondered how Tal had been in the sky as she had zero ability to control artifacts.
His stunned look made the demoness of Moebius Sect laugh freely as she looked over to Tal.
"You never saw her get serious as for you she likes showing off but with restraint. Without you there, Tal has no mercy for any foe." Tessa actually shivered and Lind wondered why. He looked back to see his adopted daughter manipulate the earth and Cymera rose out of the water with blood dripping down her face.
The twisted smile on her face was disturbing but Tal seemed unbothered. A mid-Diamond Tier was overpowering a Sky Realm but Lind truly wondered which was the more monstrous between the 2.
Both women charged as the battle continued.
