Eternal Emerald Dragon

Chapter 1730 - 1729 - Fiend Tide

Chapter 1730 - 1729 - Fiend Tide

The flattened mountain had become a tense place for the Fiends. They waited for years to see if another round of death would come for them from their leader.

The Great One was the unchallenged lord of them all but recent events had put more fear into them rather than reverence. After living for so long, the fact it was all coming to an end was clear to the Fiends.

Still, they never considered turning against him. They literally could not.

Just as with beasts, the Great One was above them all as a fact of existence.

Something had happened that caused the Great One to consume massive amounts of life to the point that they all wondered if the end was coming any day.

Now, they knew something had gone wrong and the Great One had been recovering.

The fear never faded but suddenly, a pillar of pure Fiend Qi shot skyward and the massive figure of the Great One flew up to fill the vision of all.

[No more delays. Kill them all.] Simple words and the Fiends did not dare to hold back. All the Fiends heard it but even as the Eastern Continent forces moved, the Great One frowned.

The Southern and Western areas were far lower than they should be. What was going on? He tried to look back through the memories of any Fiend and frowned even deeper.

They were just gone. No trace nor any issue was felt. It was like they had evaporated.

He wanted to know what had happened as he was in seclusion but then the Fiend Tide took his focus.

The battle line was swallowed by his race as millions died. He was initially happy, yet it quickly ran into a wall of harmonic Qi.

The thrice damned dragons had somehow made a composite array or Art that thwarted their advance!

He did not know how, but they seemed to be overly prepared for his letting go of all restraint!

He sneered as he swiped his arm and the wall shattered like glass. He was not holding back anymore!

The Fiends surged and the people that had been so confidently hiding behind the wall screamed as they had their souls ripped from their bodies.

He grinned but it was short lived as emerald beams suddenly shot out from several fortifications and wiped thousands of Fiends and thralls as if they were so much chaff.

His arms moved in intricate patterns and the destruction stopped.

The vast armies suffered death, consumption, and general failure. He was still far superior to anything that damned dragon attempted.

He descended behind the wave of Fiends as he continued to try and reach out to the other forces. Yet, he found nothing. They were not simply cut off, they were gone!

What had happened? He had not felt a thing but then he recalled the network was shattered. His mental connection was not enough! He had to actively reach out via that mental connection.

He observed the wave wipe over the once fairly stable battlefront but it was too easy. The initial resistance had been expected but as he observed the enemies being consumed, there was a distinct lack of forces present.

There were no dragons and none of the Frey family were present. It was mostly Immortals and lower forces. They even seemed like they were shocked the wall failed for some reason as they died.

"Where did they go? What is happen–" The Great One felt it then from behind him!

He whipped around and saw a massive flight of dragons burning his cities! The lower realm Fiends were dying instantly!

He was about to strike when the aura of 4 Master Tiers closed on him. He saw a being with long limbs but far thinner than any human. The golden skin was familiar as 2 demons and a human joined them.

"So, he anticipated my revenge. Fool." The Great One did not even flinch as his aura skyrocketed. He had long since passed worrying about other Master Tiers.

Vile Qi flowed out like a cloud and the 4 Master Tiers were shocked at its potency.

[Break!] The alien figure transmitted his thoughts and emerald Qi flared like a sun from the gauntlets on his arms.

The nearly invincible Fiend Qi was quickly dispersed but the armor cracked and shattered as it just barely negated it.

The Great One stared at the granules as they blew away in the wind.

"Where did you get those?" Those items had to be Mystery Grade to resist his power. Had the damned dragon truly gotten that far?

It was far too early yet he suspected his usual assumptions were useless. His shadowy figure grew in size as he decided to be more direct.

The 4 Master Tiers assumed equal positions and a pyramid of power rose up. The Great One snorted as he recognized it.

"Pinnacle Containment Art? Just how little do you think of me?" He was about to shatter it when half the Fiends suddenly screamed in his mind.

He whirled and saw a massive wall of emerald flames coming from forts and cultivators alike. They fused together and became a massive sinuous dragon!

[YOU BAST–] The Great One was cut off as the Art activated and slammed him into the ground. The surface shattered like glass.

He was irritated as he had let the attack distract him. He saw the flaming dragon avatar strike down and part the wave of Fiends.

[ENOUGH!] His aura slashed outward. The Art broke like so much chaff and the fearsome flame dragon was weakened greatly. It still endured but its power was fading quickly.

The Great One slowly stood up as his foes floated above him.

[You cannot win. The Divine Lord Lind Frey has prepared us!] The Great One flinched. Divine Lord?! Lind Frey had never become a Divine Lord before!

That was bad. The Great One frowned but did not spare a moment as dark blades appeared in his hands. He gutted 2 of the four, the humans, as if they were so many puppets. Their souls were ripped from them entirely into his dantian.

The alien and demon froze but the Great One did not waste the opening. He sliced the demon from stem to stern in an eyeblink. The man was ripped apart by the Great One's limits.

The 4 had been so coordinated but now 3 were dead. The Great One slowly turned to the alien without any further concern.

"Did you enjoy your little show? Your resistance is useless. All your hopes and dreams hinge on that little lizard's skill. Without him, you have nothing!" The Great One was not just stroking his own ego.

Before Lind Frey and his work raising 6 elementals came along, Fiends were simply outnumbered. One on one, they were able to pick and choose their targets directly or send out their thralls to do the hard work.

There had been a long endless nightmare before the current era. The Great One had known Lind Frey was coming but the current era was so different.

Normally, it was Lind Frey alone that worked on making weapons, armor, and anything to arm the the people of the Divine Lands. It was all pointless due to the fact that while Lind Frey had a bottomless well of harmonic Qi, his creations did not.

They were burned up quickly to kill as many Fiends as possible but there could never be enough.

He was so used to it that it took him a moment to frown as the alien figure smiled at him.

He quickly turned back to the wave of Fiends and saw a shocking scene. The flaming figure was almost gone but the emerald Qi was only growing stronger as it passed from one Fiend to the other!

What was going on?!

He had known about the propagation but it only worked on Immortal Fiends. When did it get upgraded to work against Divine Fiends?! It had never worked yet now it suddenly did!

"Our weapons may not be able to last forever, but they no longer need to. The Harmonic Dragons are in every area we can get them to. The 6 elemental cultivators are not as efficient but just as deadly to your kind. Your time is almost–" The alien figure began to scream as the Great One's fist exploded out his back.

The pure white eyes looked down at him as the alien's golden skin began to corrode and wither away.

The horror on his face made the Great One pacified. He then wove his free hand across the horizon. The spreading flames stopped and the Divine Fiends repaired at a visible rate.

The flailing army finally resumed its surge but it had lost a lot of members. The damned dragon had improved to a dangerous level.

It not only meant he had to be more involved in his forces, he had to find him! He had to find that dragon and kill him to finally end the endless cycle of death and restarting they had lived with for so long!
